Semi-modern sites, has water, toilet & shower facilities; dump station. Picnic area, volleyball, play ground, swimming areas. South end of Mille Lacs Lake. Amenties also include hiking trails, cross-country trails & near the Soo Line biking/hiking trails. Also 2 boat ramps & 2 fishing piers. Very nice, scenic park & we would return. Reservations for weekends are recommended. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
Two campgrounds: Maple Grove is more woodsy, non-electric, good for tenters, and very available. The Lakeview Campground is more open. Sites 1 to 7 (non-electric) are close to the lake. You'll have a nice view, hear the waves lapping the shore, and get the lake breeze. Very nice! Other sites 14 to 62 are electric(with some exceptions) and are in a more grassy open area. Park has some of the best hiking trails I've seen (well maintained) though not especially long. Nice beach for splashing or swimming. Lakeview also has showers/flush toilets that were clean and pleasant. Good cell phone and Blackberry coverage down by the water. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Nice state park. It has two separate campgrounds. The Lakeview campground has 41 electrical sites. It has many trees so there is good shade, but there is no understory. So there is little to no privacy. You are close to your neighbors. It is very family oriented. Many kids. Sites 1-7 are along the lake. They have good views of Lake Mille Lacs. They would work good for tents and pop up campers. If you want more secluded and spread out sites the Maple Grove campground offers that (if you don't need an electrical site). Most of the roads are paved in the park (except for the Maple Grove campground). So it is good if you have small children who like to ride bike. There is a nice paved trail along the lake with nice views. There are two separate boat ramps - so good access to the lake. Although it was a slightly chilly while we were there it has one of the nicer looking beaches I have seen at a state park. We'll return to this state park in the future, but will try a camp site in the Maple Grove campground next time. We camped here in a Motorhome.
If you have kids, they will love it here. Train rides, warm pool and nice owners. This is a campground that recycles everything, which is great. Will go back for sure. We camped here in a Motorhome.
This is a nice family park with alot of things to do. The owners and workers were very friendly and helpful. We arrived on a Sunday and the park was full but there was a lot of room midweek. The grounds and many walking trails were nicely groomed. Some of the amenities as listed on the web site follow & I can verify that all were available while we were there. Amenities: 74 acres with walking trails. Picnic table and fire ring at each site. Store with groceries, firewood, treats, ice, pizza, RV supplies. TV lounge area, Game room. Heated Swimming pool - 24' x 40' - open Memorial Day through Labor Day. Clean bathrooms with 'FREE' hot showers. Enclosed Picnic shelter. Children's Fishing Pond, paddle boat. Snowball Express Train rides. Wagon rides. Airstrip for Radio Controlled airplanes, pond for R/C boats. Large Playground. Softball field, Shuffle Board, Basketball, Bocce ball, Horseshoe pits, Tether ball. Volleyball and Badminton courts. Dump station and Honey wagon service. Nature Trails. 9 hole Frisbee golf course. There is also a paved bike trail nearby. We were with our RV Club, had a good time and would return. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
