We read about this park on these reviews and decided to spend a long weekend here. We are so glad we did! We arrived on a late Friday morning and drove through the 4 camping areas. The largest, and the one we liked the best, was area 4 at the far end of the park. Just about every site was empty so we got a great impression of the park. Every site we saw looked level. Some were a bit close and some had a bit more space but all of the RV sites seemed workable. We selected a site we liked, #84, right down by the lake, big area around the fire pit, and very easy access. When we went to check-in at the caretakers home, we found that almost every site had been previously reserved over their web but #84 had just been cancelled! We spent 3 very nice days here. Bathrooms were clean. Hiking in the park was fun. We walked around the "island" and found it a very nice trail. Our dog was with us and enjoyed the park too. One problem, many people here did not follow the dog-on-6-foot-lease rule so we were a little nervous twice and nearly needed to intervene in one situation. View of the lake was wonderful. Very breezy while here so there were no bugs at all! Good Verizon 4G coverage throughout the park. Very nice family type of atmosphere though the majority of campers seemed to be friendly older empty-nesters. Good playgrounds for those kids that were here. Areas 3 and 4 have modern flush toilet bath houses. Areas 1 and 2 seemed to rely on porta-potties. We camped here in a Motorhome.

Length of stay was seven days. The website does not reflect the beauty of the park. You can make a reservation through the website, but I did not like using it. It said there were pull-through sites, but I didn't see any when we got to the park. I suggest calling. The park was hard to find using GPS, as it was not accurate on truck GPS or my phone app. Nice park entrance and office. Friendly staff. New managers. Sites are difficult to get into with a big rig. Lots of trees and no pull-through sites. Electric not so good: only 30amp. Some sites without water. Bathrooms dated, but clean. Scenery gorgeous! Beautiful lake, but no boats to rent. During the week, we had it practically all to ourselves; weekends bring a respectful, family crowd. Verizon phone access great; no T-mobile access. No internet. Went to the library in downtown Mapleton for access which was pretty decent (although the staff was not aware they had wireless). Small town with just a couple of restaurants. Charming little tea house there! Great area for biking as the roads are paved, marked for biking, and little to no traffic due to it being farmers country. (They don't have to drive to work!) Rates typical for a county park. $18 p/night, but they do have a senior discount. We will stay again as it's located by family, but if another park popped up with easier access for a big rig, we would probably, sadly switch. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

This is an exceptional county park with beautiful views of Lura Lake. It's tucked away far from any highways or trains. There was no noise from other campers until the campground got busy on the week-end. Unfortunately it looked like the bathrooms hadn't been for months. Piles of worms were in the corners of the bathroom. We camped there several days and that became a problem for us. When the week-end came, suddenly thorough bathroom cleaning occurred. We would probably camp here again with hopes that their bathroom cleaning becomes more consistent. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
