Most sites are small and close together. We arrived in the middle of a weekday and found the place full, except for 2 sites that we could not fit in, so we moved on. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Very secluded area. The spots are first-come, first-serve. No reservations. Payment is made on the honor-system. A park ranger visits and makes sure your spot number matches your payment. This place is miles away from everything. The closest convenience store is about 10 miles away in the tiny town of Meadville: there are no fast food places in the area at all. So I would suggest bringing along your food, drink, fuel. The spots are level and very nice. No sewer on the sites but there is a dump station at the front of the park. The roads are very narrow and the steep inclines would make it very difficult for any large motorhome. The tall trees and hills block any type of breeze, which makes it very hot in the summer months. We will most likely come back, but it will be in the late fall or winter months. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
Great National Forest campground. Beautiful shaded sites, some with decks overlooking the hills and the lake. Bike trails through the forest with plenty of hiking available also. Feels as if you are in the mountains rather than deep down in Dixie. We will stay there every chance we get. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
This campground is ran by the US Forest Service and what a hidden jewel they have in southwest Mississippi. It is located about halfway between Natchez and Brookhaven about five miles south of US Hwy 84. Only one brown Forest Service sign indicates the turn off so you have to keep your eyes peeled. It is a beautiful campground with spacious, well-tended sites. Numerous hiking trails and a clear spring-fed lake make it a wonderful place to bring the kids. The lake has a sandy beach for swimming. Fishing is also allowed as is primitive camping. Would gladly pay an extra few dollars a night if they would upgrade the bathhouses above the apparent "low-bid" government design. Will definitely be camping here again. We camped here in a Tent Trailer.
