It is a nice clean safe place to stay while visiting Vicksburg. Everybody from the campground to the casino workers were super friendly and helpful, at check in you're given two vouchers for the breakfast buffet at the casino restaurant ($14 value). We will stay here next time we are in the area. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Nice park although no shade. Roads and sites are paved, it was raining when we were there and the sites drained well. There was a free shuttle to the casino and a coupon for a free breakfast buffet. We camped here in a Motorhome.
With easy access from I-20 and to Vicksburg NMP, this was an ideal location. It was also a great value with the free buffet breakfast coupons received at check-in. The staff was friendly and helpful. We did notice some train noise from the railroad adjacent the park. It seems as if big-rigs with a tow-vehicles had difficulty due to limited length in the sites. We camped here in a Motorhome.
This park is well maintained and the spots are cement, level, landscaped with grass and trees, with good TV and internet. The park is located across the street from the casino on the Mississippi River. There is a free shuttle which is nice. There is lots to go see and do in Vicksburg. We enjoyed our stay and would stay here again. We camped here in a Motorhome.
We reserved two days ahead of our arrival. We asked for a level site and were assured that was not a problem. When we arrived about 3pm we got a site that sloped drastically to the rear and also to the drivers side. There was no way we could get anywhere near level, and we tried with boards under the wheels and jacks. Having a site that is nearly level is the one thing all campgrounds should have. There were no other sites available that would have been any better. We did get free tickets to the breakfast buffet - the food was fine, the service nonexistent. We were so ready to leave the place and will never return as our problems far outweighed any good points about the place. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Excellent value for the money. Free breakfast buffet coupons at check-in. Staff friendly, helpful. Shuttle to casino. Would camp here again. We camped here in a Motorhome.
An excellent place for an overnight stay. Its near the Ameristar Casino and there is a shuttle that circulates between casino, hotel and RV park. All amenities were great, even the laundry. They even gave us a coupon good for free breakfast. We would definitely stay here again. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
Good park for a couple of days to check out the local area. We received the free breakfast buffet coupons and used them, a great buffet at the casino. The clerk at check-in was excellent, gave you any information you needed. Would stay here again. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
After spending weeks in the woods, this was a welcome oasis. The personnel were friendly and very nice. As an added bonus, we were given coupons for a free breakfast at the Ameristar Casino. Delicious! Quiet, clean, and roomy describe this park. Wi-FI was quick and dependable. Cable TV was an extra added attraction and did not cost extra. We will definitely stay here again. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
Excellent campground convenient to the highway. They have a free shuttle to the resort/casino and restaurants are nearby. Easy access to sites and plenty of room. We camped here in a Motorhome.
We stayed overnight at Ameristar on our way home to Texas. I had made reservations. The RV park is about 2 blocks from the Ameristar Hotel and across the street from the Casino. It has very easy access from I-20. The rate reflects a 10% discount. The bath/showers were small but very clean as was the laundry facility. All were located in the Reception/Check-In building. All sites are paved and close together. There is a very small patio. The park was very clean and the staff was efficient. One nice benefit was 2 free tickets to the Casino breakfast buffet which was delicious. There is a shuttle that will take you between the Casino, hotel and RV Park. There was room for us to pull though our 39' 5th wheel and leave the dually attached. I rated it down for no shade and tight spaces. Otherwise it was a great place for an overnight. We would stay there again. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
We were pleased with this campground. It is very well kept, safe-feeling and secure. The campground has a small pool, and small laundry facility and all very neat. Also has concrete pads, very level sites, regular trash pickup and great internet. This campground is close to all the attractions and very near a Super Wal-Mart. We would stay here again. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Very nice, all pull-through spots with cement. Quiet with free cable and Wi-Fi that worked well. A shuttle to casino plus they gave me a coupon for a free buffet breakfast at the casino for both mornings I was here. This used to be an Isle of Capri Casino and RV park so my GPS didn't know it by name. I would definitely stay here again. We camped here in a Motorhome.
This our 4th time to stay at this campground, and it is great. Staff friendly and always ready to help, if you need help. We will always stay here when in Vicksburg. We camped here in a Truck Camper.
Clean, well-kept park that is starting to show its age. Paved roads, with cement pads and patio. Sites are pull-through, but not real long if you're around 38 feet. Hook-ups at rear of site, so you must unhitch your toad. Good for satellite. Wireless works well. Across the street from the casino; shuttle service available. Good location to tour Vicksburg and the Battlefield Site. Stayed three nights. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Honors AARP 10% discount; we paid $25.23 plus $1.77 tax per night and stayed 1 week. Shuttle to casino. Quiet and clean. Convenient for sightseeing in area. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Nice level sites, 50 amp service, no trees, HOT in the Summer, great free shuttle to the casino/buffet, nice smaller pool, all pull thru sites. They also give you two free breakfast buffet coupons for the buffet at the casino across the street. Overall, not bad for $27! We camped here in a Motorhome.
The park was nice. The Manager told us they had only a few sites available and only 30amp. However, the park never filled up and there were lots of 50amp sites available. Also, lots of gnats flying about day and night. We camped here in a Motorhome.
This is the same park as is listed next (Diamond Jack's). It went from Isle of Capri to Diamond Jack's to Ameristar in the past 2 years. Since my opinion during this visit is the same as last October's, I will refer the reader to the 10/08 review currently listed under Diamond Jack's. It is still a good, but flawed park. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Easy access to I-20, very quiet to be so close to the highway. We used it as a stopover, just one night each way. An excellent value with free breakfast at the casino. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

Very convenient to Vicksburg and inexpensive. A great value and nicely maintained. Cement sites and good roads. All pull throughs. We would return. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
This is the not the campground you want to go to if you are looking for a back to nature experience. However, if you a going through Vicksburg or staying here for the battlefield or casinos you can't beat the place. Nice pull through sites that are paved. Full hook-ups including cable. A small pool and clean laundry. Free shuttle to the casino and you can catch public bus at the casino to all the other casinos or downtown. Nice place although there is no shade and the sites are close together, but hardly a parking lot We camped here in a Motorhome.
Quiet (except for trains); nice woods and grass all around property; very pet friendly; cement sites with small patio extension -- some sites need attention to break down of cement; convenient on/off and to all you will want to do; behind a ridge on the east bank of Mississippi and across from the Ameristar Casino barge; propane at reasonable rate; no "junk" or long term RV's; few 50 amp sites and some flooding in middle of park when it rained; shuttle service but you can walk or drive yourself easily to casino (5 casinos in a row on the east bank with this one in the middle); nice casino with great food at buffet; free breakfast a nice touch; they say there is a 3-day limit, but can stay longer if not busy; great civil war national park 4 miles away and beautiful antebellum mansions to visit with quaint downtown shopping; Walmart, Kroger, Walgreen, and more very close by; rate is Good Sam discounted; have been told this is best park in the area and we would return. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
This was our second stay. The park is very convenient to the casino with an on demand shuttle. All sites are pull throughs. Many sites are pitched badly lengthwise and from side to side making leveling very difficult if not impossible. We couldn't level and we watched 3 or 4 people give up and move off the site they had been assigned. It has a nice little pool. The laundry is small but nice. We camped here in a Motorhome.
This campground worked fine, meaning wifi, cable, etc. Convienient to what we wanted to see in town and surrounding areas. Would stay here again. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Beautiful, well maintained location near the Mississippi River. Easy access from I-20. Casino shuttle service. Civil War history and beautifully maintained older homes in the area. Sites are all pull-throughs and large. Great space for walking pets. Only two washers and dryers in the laundry. Internet worked in the office area but not at our site which was near the back of the park. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
Big rig access is a little iffy depending on the location and how full the park is. We had to pull through one site to get to our assigned one. The sites are paved, but turning radius is not fully paved for big rigs. We were hard pressed to park truck at either end of 5th wheel. The price is great and we were given two free breakfast buffets for the casino. The buffet was the largest and best quality food we've seen. Shower facilities were clean, but limited in number. WIFI worked well. We would definitely stay again. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Campground facilities were very convenient. The staff was very helpful. The grounds were very clean and maintained. A shuttle bus runs frequently to the Ameristar casino, but the campground is very close to both the casino and hotel, the downtown area, and the national battlefield. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. We camped here in a Motorhome.
We have stayed at this park several times before. We got reservations in advance. There were no 50 amp sites available. The office staff were very friendly and helpful. The park is convenient to the Vicksburg Military Park, the casinos and their buffets. In fact, you will receive free breakfast vouchers for 2 at the Ameristar Heritage Buffet. These were very nice. Our trip was marred because of an accident while we were there. One of the employees of the contracted lawn service ran into the side of our Motorhome with one of the large commercial mowers and we sustained considerable damage. We are in the process of getting estimates. So far over $3000 plus other expenses. As we live fulltime in our Motorhome this poses some very difficult logistal problems for us. Quite an inconvenience. Could have all be avoided with the exercise of due care by the lawn care crew!!! We camped here in a Motorhome.
This RV park is really nice for a casino campground. Lots of grass and great area to walk dogs in - very clean - most people pickup. The free wifi is excellent as is the cable TV with lots of channels including HBO. Friendly staff - only 2 W&Ds but they only cost $1 per load. You get 2 free breakfast buffets that were better than most. We will definitely come here again, and recommend this campground. We camped here in a Motorhome.
725 Lucy Bryson Street. A good Sam park. Nicely separated sites that are extremely well maintained. There are frequent patrols by a marked security vehicle. There was little road noise, some railroad rumblings but no train horns. Complimentary buffet breakfast passes are given at registration. Friendly, capable, and competent staff. There is propane on the property. No recycling set up. We will stay here again. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
This is a nice, well maintained park that is convenient for those traveling on I-20. There is a helpful host and and lots to do in the area. We gambled some in the casino, and our camp site fees were comped, and we paid nothing for a 3 day stay. We will be back again. We camped here in a Motorhome.
A very neat and clean park. We enjoyed visiting the historical area, and played a slot machine or two. There are concrete pads and picnic tables. We will definitely go back. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Sorry folks, I still can't see this park being more than an "8". I've been stopping here 2-4 times times a year for over 10 years. Because it has 60 channel cable, a pool, and now on site WI-FI, it meets my needs. I'm in the camp of those who think many of the sites are not level and have crumbling cement pads. Also, some of the utility hook-ups are poorly located (at far rear of the site), old, and in need of repair or replacement. I'd prefer to see money spent repairing or improving the sites rather than flowers or bushes. Many would consider the laundry (2 of each machine) and bathrooms (2 showers each) too small for this size park. At least they cut back on their initial price hike to $30 when they took over last year. A nice, adequate, but flawed park. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Nice clean park. Leveling was not an issue. Got free breakfast buffets for stying at the park. These are $6.99 each if not staying at park or hotel. Easy in and out and close to the Interstate. Will definitely stay here again. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
Our fourth stay at this campground. Love it! Friendly staff and most of the sites are level. Elise (staff) is terrific. Will always stay at this campground when in the area. We camped here in a Truck Camper.
3rd stay and Ameristar is putting a lot of money into the park. The staff is helpful, humorous and very pleasant. Has shuttle over to the casino, with great food in several locations. Sites are level, hookups convenient and the entire park is spotless. Will definitely stay here again. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
Visited in 36' rig and had no "leveling" issues. Were there 4 nights and enjoyed the stay. Staff was friendly and helpful. Enjoyed pool and casino.. We camped here in a Motorhome.
THE WORST site for level pads. Every pad is concrete but I tried everything I could to get level and could not (#62). They gave me 4 other lots to try. #49 wasn't level and the sewer pipe was crushed in. #48 better at level but again the sewer pipe was crushed. #47 good sewer pipe but not level. Each of these pad were at least a 4% grade off level. Small RVs or 5th wheels don't have my wheelbase so they could find a level patch. This is not a big rig friendly park. Other RVers parked their cars in vacant spots to you would have to go find the owner to get on that lot. Good Luck at that. We had a "Rent an RV" come in and they had a pitbull and another dog that they immediately tied to a tree and left them outside. The grass between pads was at least 6 inches high. Some picnic tables were destroyed. The train comes through on a regular basis and every so often it lets you know by blow its whistle. The park must be close to a high school because in the early morning you hear the drum band practicing. The staff doesn't answer the phone most of the time. There was a hugh mud hole at the front left corner of the pad. You can not leave your tow attached if you are a big rig. This is the last time I will ever stay here. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Very clean park (basically a large parking lot-trees not mature) close to historical areas. Staff super friendly--great, huge breakfast for free at casino is included. We were not visiting casino but enjoyed the park on our way to national park battleground and other sites. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
Site was a little difficult to level. Office personnel were easy to deal with. Although we didn't use the casino offerings, the campsite was close to the historic areas of the city. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
We stayed here for an overnight stop. The kids liked the pool. The place was clean, and well maintained. Someone mentioned the train that runs by the place slow, it went by around 7:30am and we were already awake so it did not bother us. It is close the I20 and easy to get to. They gave us free breakfast at the casino (but we did not use it) Cable TV was good. WIFI is only in the office, but she said they are working on adding it to the rest of the site. We would stop here again if we needed to. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Very nice - large and long concrete pads - friendly staff one of the better rv parks if you need commercial services, fuel, restaurants etc. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
Very clean park with level sites and easy pull-thurs. Friendly staff, shuttle to the casino and close to driving tours and battlefield. They also gave us a free breakfast. We camped here in a Motorhome.
This was a very nice place to stop. We were greeted kindly by the staff. Sites were neat and the campground was very quiet. It appeared that the new managment was trying to improve things. We noticed several sites that were being repaired with new pads. Again, the site that we had was not level, so we had to shim one set of wheels. We were here after a big rainstorm, but only a small amount of water was on our site and offered no problem. Shuttle service to the casino was on demand and only a phone call away-nice. We would stop here again. I noticed as we left that the sites were nearly full here for the weekend. Wifi was available and free. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
This is a very nice park that is located across the street from the casino, and just off I-20. All the sites are paved, just not very level. Every one is a pull through. The $21 we paid was with a Good Sams discount. We got two free coupons for the breakfast buffet at the casino. A shuttle bus will pick you up and drop you off at the front door of the casino and when you are ready, it will bring you back to your site. There are lots of good restaurants close buy. Historical sites are just up the road and are a must see and visit. This was our first time there and we will stay there again. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
This is a nice clean park with a nice small pool. The concrete pads are too narrow to park rv on and still step out onto. There is a concrete pad for patio but it is too small for a fifth wheel. The lots are all pull through but are too short to park and leave another vehicle attached. Nice shuttle to the casino and the food is good. If you gamble enough, you can get your lot rent paid. We will stay here again. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
We stayed here 5 nights. Liked the grassy sites and picnic tables. Staff was friendly and helpful. Laundry room was clean. Enjoyed the coupon for the free breakfast at the casino. Would definitely stay here again. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
This is the old Diamond Jack's campground which was bought out by Ameristar. Very convenient to I-20 exit 1A and to most attractions. We spent 5 days here, and plan to go back when we visit again. The staff were easy to work with. A lot of overnighters and weekend folks. 3-day limit on stay is dependent on how busy the park is. Train nearby was bothersome at first, but then got used to it - even the 3 am daily freight. We had our windows open throughout the stay because of the very pleasant weather. Did not really hear road noise from highway. Sites are paved and narrow, although ample room for sitting outside and barbecuing. We camped here in a Motorhome.
I agree with all that the last person said. We stayed 3 nights and enjoyed the staff, convenience, and cleanliness. There is a car rental at the entrance which is in walking distance. There are a few sites with shade, not many. There is a shuttle to the casino regularly so try not to get on the sites in the most northern road. There is quaint shopping down town and wonderful murals on the flood wall downtown as well. We would stay here again! We camped here in a Motorhome.
I really liked this park for it's efficiency, location, amenities, upkeep and the staff. Judging by the daily turnover and quality of rigs that stay here, I think many others agree. We stayed 5 nights so we could tour the battleground (3 miles away), visit the vet (Vicksburg Vet Hospital- very nice folks), see some mansions, etc. The kids liked riding their bikes and scooters around. The park is on a gentle slope so front to rear leveling was required but no big deal. I liked that you could choose between 30 amp and 50 amp. That saved about $5.00 a night. The two free breakfast buffets tickets saved us even more, and the buffet was good. If you get a players card at the casino and earn 50 points, they comp one of your nights stay (either in the hotel or RV park). They have propane on site and since we had to leave, the fellow brought the tank back to our site and secured it with our dog cable even! Very nice touch. All of the staff we met were very, very nice. The pool is heated and very clean, we enjoyed a few evenings of splashing around. It is 4 ft deep all over. There are two washers (dbl capacity) and two dryers. They are clean and worked well. They run this park like a hotel. You pay when you check out and can charge things to your site, just like in a hotel. It is well lit and they have security that drives around many times an hour. There are no dumpsters, but the there are trash cans throughout the park. Just lift the lid to the container to put your bag in. The entire edge of the park is for a pet walk and it was very clean. Grass is throughout the park and around it (lots of rain in these parts). Overall, a well maintained, well run, conveniently located park. They even have a large lot next to the park for overnighters (I believe this to be the case). We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
Narrow concrete slabs, some in very poor condition, many somewhat unlevel end to end, a few terribly unlevel side to side, nice grass, picnic tables, 2 tickets for free buffet breakfast at casino ($14 value). Wi-Fi worked well. We might return for an overnight stop. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Recieved free breakfast buffet at Casino, that made stay even better. We stayed for one night, passing through the area. We enjoyed our stay, very quiet. They had free 24 hour shuttle to the Casino. We would stay here again, and would stay longer if we had the opportunity. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Rate includes Good Sam discount. Were given 2 coupons for Breakfast Buffet. This makes the first night essentially free. Free shuttle to the Ameristar Casino. Took about 20 minutes wait. No lines at the Buffet at 7:30 AM. Beautiful concrete pads surrounded by GREEN kentucky blue grass sod. Picnic table on adjacent concrete pad. Great Cable TV selection. Wireless and Verizon connectivity for internet. Park was well lit. Lounge area open all night. Coffee available in the Lounge. Didn't check out the pool- only 50 degrees upon arrival - 32 when checking out. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Very clean park great for staying with passing through. Will stay here again. Very friendly staff and great free breakfast We camped here in a Motorhome.
Park is OK and they have made some cosmetic improvements, (although the sewer connections are still broken and leaking) but the real issue here is the casino's utter lack of regard for the safety of the park's visitors. The casino shuttles speed through the park at excessive speed and then cut across the empty rv spaces rather than using the driveways. I brought these practices to the attention of Ameristar management last February when we visited here, and again today. They could not care less. All they seem intersted in is casino revenue, no matter how they get it. WE WILL DEFINITELY NOT RETURN. We camped here in a Truck Camper.
We received a coupon for breakfast at the casino worth $14, so we figure the site really cost just $13 so that is a bargain. The breakfast buffet was wonderful. The staff was friendly and the view of the Mississippi River from the casino was very cool. The park is just .3 miles off the interstate which is also convenient. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Camping fee includes two breakfast buffets at the Casino. Long unlevel sites with broken concrete, had to try three before, I could level. But it's about the best in the area if you are there for the history and casinos in Vicksburg. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Complimentary breakfast was a nice touch. Free shuttle to the casino across the street. Sites were level and water and elec. were good. Everything was clean and well attended. Bathrooms sparkled the two days that we were there. Good place to spend the night after touring Vicksburg or the casinos. We camped here in a Motorhome.
We stayed here a few years ago when it was Isle of Capri and it was decent. It looks like no one has cleaned since Ameristar took it over. The bathrooms were disgusting, sooo much mold and mildew. The breakfast buffet was good and helped to justify the pricing for the site. We usually do a quick overnight here on the way across the country but I think we will look for another RV park next time. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
Good roads, sites fairly large and level. They have a free shuttle to casino which has a good buffet. When we were there it was raining hard and the run off for the park was very good with a very few puddles. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Great place to use for visiting Vicksburg. As Best Bets book says, the back row spaces are fairly level - some of the others aren't. We camped here in a Motorhome.
This is my fourth stay here since my first review of this park 10/06 when I gave it a 6. I don't see any indication of Ameristar putting money into the park. They now have WIFI but there has been no upgrading of the aging utilities and the cement pads are still unlevel and deteriorating. The rate has almost doubled in 1 year with the only noticable improvement being the addition of WIFI. Thus, I dropped my rating one point. Still a good overnight stop with good cable and now WIFI - just more expensive than it was. We camped here in a Motorhome.
All sites were pull through sites, fully paved. The visit includes two free breakfast buffet coupons that can be used at the casino. Park was clean with convenient access to the freeway. We stayed here one night. We camped here in a Motorhome.
This park is ok and is well discribed by the previous poster. We had to steal a table from a vacant site though. The free buffet was very good. They have free coffee in the office. There is a shuttle to the casino, but it is only a short walk from the park. There is a very steep grade going down to the casino. So if you walk, be in shape. Some of the concrete slabs are slightly cracked and some sites have trees. We were assigned a site. We asked for 30A ($22.50)(50A $27.50) and were put at the far end of the park. Nice spot but the WiFi was intermittant at best. WiFi improved when the sites between us and the office emptied out Sunday night. It is easy on/off I-20 and about 4 miles from the Civil War Military Park. The railroad tracks were about 100 yards from our site and below a retaining wall I think. But I like trains so no problem. They don't run that many. Would stay here again. The staff was very nice as were all the folks we met in the area. Southern hospitality for sure. Nice little town too. Very easy town to get around. Take the Blue and Red Vicksburg, as it drives around town. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
This park was very neat, clean and had nice size sites with grass, concrete slab and table at each site. All sites are pull-thru. A free buffet breakfast at the casino is included, 1 per person per stay. They have free coffee in the office. There is a shuttle to the casino. Some of the concrete slabs are cracked and some sites have trees so look around and pick your site. The ones on the far end of the park are the largest. Looked like there was some new landscaping. The WiFi was great. It is easy on/off I-20 and about 4 miles from the Civil War Military Park. Only negative would be the closeness of the railroad tracks. Would stay here again. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
Camped in 45 foot motor home. The interior roads and sites are paved with grass and picnic table at site. Many of the concrete slabs on sites are broken and not level. Ameristar took over the park in February 2007. No improvements have been made in years with exception of WiFi, which worked great. Free breakfast at the casino and free shuttle to it. Easy access from I-20 using Exit 1A, then north on Washington St. approximately 1/2 mile on east side of street. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Stopped by on the way from Dallas to Atlanta. Very good experience with the Diamond Jacks park in Shreveport. This park has been purchased by Ameristar and was priced accordingly. They quoted $27 for one night with no-internet, almost no space, and bad power. We ended up going to Magnolia about 1.5 miles away. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Excellent overnight campground or base camp for the Vicksburg area. Uniformed security patrol provided throughout the night. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
Can't get over the money Ameristar is putting into this place: trees, shrubs, mulch. It looks great, and we love it. Its our 3rd visit and we will be back. We camped here in a Motorhome.
This is a great campground for overnight or longer. The lady on duty could not have been more helpful and nicer. We had a pull-thur,full hookups. We would definitely stay here again. We camped here in a Truck Camper.
Park name has changed to Ameristar Casino RV Park. There is a shuttle to the Ameristar Casino. Park is very clean and the staff is very friendly. Park is also located close to other attractions. We camped here in a Motorhome.
This place has taken a bad rap lately, so we went to Magnolia, and left after one night, due to the sardine factor. We like the room at Diamond Jacks, the fact that you can open your slides without worrying about knocking your neighbors' coffee off his picnic table, and that you can drive your rig in and out of your space without asking people to move their cars and pull in their awnings. Yes, the person in the office could be happier, but I am not reviewing, or paying, for that. The park is what I need, and I'm happy to give it an 8. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Pretty pathetic. Bare bones campground. Ok for an overnight, but not more. They had a pool that we did not use, and the facilities seemed clean, but the campground itself was just cruddy. Many broken sewer connections. Grass and weeds. Certainly overpriced for a casino campground. We were here in a 43' coach and it was easy to get in and out, but not if you were planning to keep your tow car connected. And we could not attach our sewer hose because the sewer connection was way in the back of the site and we had to pull all the way forward in order to fit (with tow car attached). The day of departure, we pulled forward into another site and dumped. Would probably not return. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Nice staff, but generally poor park. Lots were not level and not big rig friendly. We reserved a 50 amp site, but when we got there the last one had been given away to a 30 amp rig. Train track nearby so noise all night. Don't bother with the Diamond Jacks casino-the buffet is pretty bad, go to the Ameristar across the street instead. The best thing about the trip was the giant cheesecake at Bourbon's restaurant in the Ameristar. We probably won't stay here again. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
This is no longer Isle of Capri. It is now Diamond Jacks. We had to unhook and park the truck around the perimeter of the park. The longest space is only about 50 feet long so if you are towing a toad or have a large 5th wheel you may have to park it somewhere other than in your space. Otherwise, it is a fine place to base for a visit to Vicksburg, and the price is very good. We would stay here again. We camped here in a Motorhome.
I have stopped here dozens of times over the years travelling between Tunica and Louisiana. I agree with most of the reviews but wonder how such a "bare bones" place can rate an 8 or better. Additionally, many of the pads are a bit short and beginning to deteriorate. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Nice clean park with nice sized pull thru spots. Some shade would have been nice. The RV park is now under Diamond Jacks. We were very disappointed in the meal at the steak house at the casino. A good place to stop for easy on/off access to I20. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
This park is nice, clean, and easy to get to off freeway. It is not a luxury or frilly type place. It is good for a few nights and visiting area attractions or casinos. Staff was nice. They have a nice pool and hot tub too. Also have small playground for kids and lots of grass for walking dogs. Our second (one night) visit and we will go back! Good stop over point for long trips. Casino shuttle is good and casino is nice. Casino manager even had the security van immediately come pick us up and take us back to our RV when the shuttle had stopped running. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Barebones campground. Friendly folks in the office. Every site is 30 amp, water, sewer, and pull through. Get a players card and the daily rate is only $14.50. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
We agree with previous reviews. The sites are pull-thru, paved, and mostly level, but narrow and will just hold a 37 footer with toad. There is a decent grassy space between sites but no shade. The park is clean but pretty plain. The bathrooms weren't horrible, but could be cleaner. However, you can't beat the price. The $15 (actually $14.55) is if you join their players club which was no problem. We actually had a little luck at the casino, so we came out ahead. We would stay here again, and we would recommend it with the understanding that it is not great, but not bad either. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Gal at check in was cranky but everybody else was pleasant. Clean and neat with shuttle to casino, buffet was very good!Small spaces but easy to maneuver and hook up. Nice stop for overnite or short stay. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
This park has two main things going for it: price and location. The other reviews have it right. It is OK for an overnight or a base to explore the area, but if you want much more, keep searching. Management is pretty non-existent. The days we were there trash was piling up since it hadn't been collected recently and one row lost power for a short period. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
While there were no trees, the pads were very level and there was grass and picnic tables between each. There was a nice area to walk pets. It is on the same street as the casinos and an historical part of town. We recommend the military park. We camped here in a Motorhome.
This park is clean and has grass between sites. All sites are concrete pull thrus with a picnic table but are not level. There is a nice grassy area for walking pets. The pool and hot tub area were also clean. There is no shade other than what you get from your awning or the neighboring RV. We camped here in a Motorhome.
This is a very clean park. There is no shade but we had plenty with our awning out. There is a nice little playground for the kids, a pool, and a hot tub. The sites aren't on top of each other so this was nice too. We will stay here again. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
Nice park - has free shuttle to Isle of Capri Casino. Street address is not listed on their website. It is: (at the end of) 725 Lucy Bryson Street, Vicksburg, MS 39180. GPS coordinates for Lucy Bryson Street are: N32° 18.991', W90° 53.858'. Don't miss signing up for the Isle of Capri IsleOne Card (at front desk of Casino). Lots and lots of free stuff!! Don't miss visiting the Vicksburg National Military Park (Civil War). We camped here in a Motorhome.
This campground was very nice and the price certainly was right. It's right off the highway, between two industrial-type buildings which seems kind of scary. But it's spacious, clean, seems completely safe and is fairly kid-friendly. It's across the street from the casino which means there are shuttles running all the time which can be kind of dangerous for kids, and there didn't seem to be very many kids, mainly senior citizens in the park. The pool is heated year round which is nice, the sites seemed to be all pull-thrus which is also nice. They were narrow, which is expected, but it was very quiet there especially considering the casino shuttles. The shuttle can take you to the casino to eat or play, also. Would definitely stay there again, $16 can't be beat! We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
A great overnight stop when passing thru. Friendly office staff. Hot showers. Concrete pads. Easy to get in and out. Close to casino, historical sites, restaurants. Definitely would stay here again. We camped here in a Motorhome.
This is a nondescript park with no real outstanding features, but nice facilities and is there mostly for the casino. Access is very easy and it is a great choice for a short or overnight visit. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Is now Ameristar RV Park (was Diamond Jack's and Isle of Caper). Very open; easy access to sites; Concrete pads but not very level; Convenient hook-ups. Within walking distance of the casino. Sites are short so if you're towing you will probably need to unhook. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Clean fairly well maintained, interior roads & pads paved, shuttle to their casino, discount coupons for breakfast, nice nite stop, casino access, and lots of historical heritage and points of interest in area. All sites are pull-thru's. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Right across the street from the Mississippi River. Paved roads, concrete pads and picnic table. Good cable with many channels. On site instant phone, but dial up connection (26.4bps). No shade trees, but area is clean. Very helpful staff and numerous perks for the casino. Very close to Civil War sites, Natchez Trace, plenty of places to eat. Very convenient to get to and easy access to sites. 3 day stay limit posted, but can be negotiated according to vacancy (and amount spent at casino!) Good place to stop either overnight or for a couple of days. Not an RV destination resort, but better than KOA for sure. Some grass, areas clean, place to park tow cars. We camped here in a Motorhome.

This park is nicely kept and provides the shuttle to the casino. It's not super scenic, but it's a fine place to stop for the night. They provide a coupon for a $2.00 breakfast buffet. While I skipped that, I did have the dinner buffet at the casino and the food was very good (but not gourmet quality). The only negative was a little bit of noise from departing casino guests in their extended parking lot next door early in the morning. We camped here in a Motorhome.

Large concrete pull-thru sites. Sites are slanted uphill enough that it took a board under rear tires to level. Utilities well placed. Every site has a concrete pad with a picnic table. Nice pool. Park was quiet. Would suggest reservations as park sells out early every day--even during the week. We camped here in a Motorhome.

If the shade trees were bigger the park would rate a 9+. Shuttle service to the casinos (if you've a mind to gamble), near Vicksurg Nat'l Battlefield, some great vistas of the Mississippi River are nearby, and drives through the historical areas of Vicksburg are enjoyable. We like this park a lot. You can only spent 14 days here and you need to leave. The staff was very nice, you get free breakfast, rides over to the casino and back if you like, food was very good. On site phone service is set up as you check in. we had a very good time here. Vicksburg is full of good places to see. We camped here in a camper.

A great stop-over at a great price. Has shuttles to casino's. Bargain priced morning breakfast buffet with stay. Landscaping not the greatest and very hot in summer with no shade, but convenient to freeway and a fun place with friendly staff. We camped here in a camper.
This is not the greatest park and we will not stay here again. The sites are extremely close together with barely enough room to step outside your door. Although they put us in a site supposed to be long enough to accommodate our coach and tow vehicle, we were actually in the road at the front and the back. The sites are gravel with slippery, muddy, grass between sites. Nice metal picnic tables but there’s not a picnic table at every site. It would be impossible to have a table at every site, there’s not enough room. Free WiFi but a very slow connection. On the positive side, the manager was very nice. We camped here in a Motorhome.
This is a nice campground. There are very few trees which makes it hot in the summer. The pool is very nice. The staff is courteous and helpful. We camped here in a Motorhome.
This is not a resort. The rally (recreation) room was being remodeled, the basketball court was less than a free throw line and there was no spa. The bathrooms did not smell clean. The Wi-Fi was very slow. After the rains there were puddles all over and they did not drain while we were there. The positives are that the managers were nice; they had a free book exchange; they were building a new bridge; and they lent you a CD/tape of the military park tour. The dog park is grass and very large but it also pools water during the rainy times. We camped here in a Motorhome.
This is the second time we have stayed in this park, and we feel very welcome every time we come here. I don't know why one person posted such a harsh comment on the park, but the only negative is that the spots are a little close. Other than that they keep the park clean and help you anytime you need anything. Lisa and family is very accommodating. It does get a little messy when it rains, but there's not much you can do about mother nature. It is a safe place and there is a Walmart is about 2-3 miles away. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
This was a friendly welcoming RV park. They even provided us with a CD or audio tape to use as we took the Vicksburg Battlefield auto tour. This was a very nice feature at a very nice campground. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Park was clean and Lisa was very helpful. Wifi is slow and you have to turn off your pop up blocker to access it. Sites are close together and there are a lot of semi permanent workers staying here. Very extensive library of free movies in the office you can borrow. Also, books to trade. Pool area was clean although we did not use it due to rain. We camped here in a Motorhome.
The park looks like a third world country. 'Wi-Fi did not work. Site next to us had a broken trailer with no windows, flat tires and was occupied.. Did not feel safe and asked for refund. Received all but sales tax. How Woodalls rates this a four star is a mystery. Almost all the sites are occupied by permanents residents. The place is a dump and that is being optimistic. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
Our stay at Magnolia was good. The place was well maintained. We all enjoyed making new friends. Lisa was very helpful during our stay also. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
Was here for over a month had a positive stay, place is well kept up. All staff very friendly and helpful, makes you feel like family. Nice cool, well kept pool and grounds. Nice bath house and restrooms. We will stay here again, had no problems with parking our rig and the awning was put out. No more cramped than living in the city. Recommend anyone to stay here, nice place and very close to everything. Thanks, Lisa and family for everything always a friend Lisa. We camped here in a Motorhome.
This is a crowded park with tight gravel spaces. They are narrow, maybe 6' between my slide and the neighbors slide. A bit tough to get in and out of as well. It is convenient to I-20 though, so not too bad for an overnight stay. We camped here in a Motorhome.
As previous posters have remarked, the only pluses for this park are the pet run, one of the nicest we've seen anywhere, and the friendly hosts. By no stretch of the imagination could this be called a 'resort.' We camped here in a Motorhome.
We stayed here while my husband was in town for work. We chose this park because of the dog run area they have. The fenced in area that you can let your dogs run is great. That is about the only plus that I can say about this park. The price for a months stay is $500 a month. You have very basic cable channels, with not very good reception. The wifi connection is bad, you don't stay connected long. When it rains it becomes a big mud hole. The sites are really close and you can't let your awning out unless you touch the trailer next to you. The owners were friendly. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
Many more plus's than negatives. It is not a resort type, but very adequate for a day or two. Easy access from Interstate. Quiet, friendly office personnel, very nice dog exercise area. Pool was closed but looked to be nice. Wifi worked good. On the negative side, you are really packed in here. Too close to open awning, but easy pull-throughs. Gravel sites, and close to your neighbor. Probably not a place to sit out and relax, but nice for an overnight stop, and to see the sites of Vicksburg. It is what it is, and if you're looking for a resort type place this is not it.....OK. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
Well run campground, very friendly, good utilities, relatively clean, simple. Small sites but for the price and alternative campgrounds in the area a good value. I would go there again. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Owners are friendly. No frills campground with easy access from the Interstate. Narrow sites okay for a night or two. Internet was useless because we either could not get connected or we could not stay connected. We would stay again for a night or two. We camped here in a Motorhome.
The new owners have really worked to spruce up the park. They are very friendly, helpful, proud of their park, and concerned about their guests. I was given instructions for a "safe" way to get to the casinos. I appreciated the cleanliness of the park. The wifi has worked well for us. They have discounts for Good Sam or for Escapees. The sites are narrow, and we didn't put our patio awning out all the way because we were afraid that it would hang over the site on that side of the coach. Since we are here for only one night, that's not a problem for us. We will stay here again. We camped here in a Motorhome.
The only distraction on this park is that the sites are gravel and not concrete. We found this park on the internet and stayed two nights, one going and coming from Florida. We will definitely stay the next time we go to Florida or are in the area. The owners are very accommodating and are true to Southern hospitality. Great park !! We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
After much discussion, we decided to stay at Magnolia this trip. My wife likes to see different parks, and I like to stay at ones I trust. Although it was less convenient from the interstate than Ameristar, and the roads are more narrow than I like to get there(our rig is 40'). We arrived and found a small, gravel road, non-shaded, packed like cord wood, RV park with more room for a dog to run than a slide to open. Never again will we stay in such a place. There were only 3 other places (1 nite each)we have stayed that are this bad, and they don't get the occasionally "good" reviews this one seems to. On the second thru fifth night we stayed at Ameristar; what a joy! We camped here in a Motorhome.
This park has easy on/off access to I-20. Park has gravel roads and pull thrus, but no shade whatsoever. The sites are extremely narrow but long. The electrical and water connections are located in the middle of the site which could make it difficult to put out multiple slides for big rigs. The park was clean and the staff helpful. This is a good campground to spend the night while traveling on I-20. You can select a site without cable TV which makes the nightly rate a little cheaper. Would stay at this park again while traveling on I-20. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
Sites are definitely not big rig sites. We made reservation for 36 ft. with 4 slides pulled by dually truck. Site hookups located oddly at sites so that RV needs to be in middle of short site leaving no place to place tow vehicle. We inquired about parking sideways across site - no way. Signs all over office countertop about not parking in another RV site (there were plenty of empty sites available) and being charged for addltion site. We could not put out one of our slides due to electric pedestal so very close to RV and if we moved RV we had no place to park truck or could not reach electric connection. All sites are the same. Staff NOT helpful, sites NOT level (even though the manager swears they are. Heed these reviews about site size and hookups. For one night, if you have an RV less than 20 ft. with small tow vehicle, maybe okay for short stay. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
While on the way to Wyoming (from GA) we stopped here. The woman in the office was quite nice, and her son, a computer savvy young man) was busy looking at the various on-line review sites. The park was well kept, but very narrow roads, narrow spaces: which make for large rig problems. This was the first time I had a problem with the "Big Rig" book recommendation. My slide forced my neighbor to abandon his seat at the picnic table between us. I have been to over 200 RV parks, and have never been charged so much for so little. We camped here in a Motorhome.
This is a nice campground. Sites are gravel but level. No trees or shade around the sites. Area is clean. Has a large dog run for our 4 legged kids. Staff was nice. Sites are close and the sewer and water for the site beside me was right at my door when I stepped out. This is my main concern and why I did not give a better rating. Two Casinos are close by and there is a shuttle to one if you have them call and runs up till 10:30 pm. Casino's have large parking lots so it is easy to drive. I would stay here again if I were in the area. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
The park is on the outskirts of Vicksburg. It was very easy to get to all the sites in and around the city. Owners were very helpful with any questions. Campground was very quiet and well kept but lacked shade. Pets were leashed at all times and there was a pet yard provided for them. Sites were all pull throughs but our 40' fifth wheel plus long truck was slightly over the length of the site. Super Walmart within 2 miles. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
The location and access is very good. The sites are very tight and the owner will not allow you to park tow vehicle on grass. The park is attractive and has good utilities. They have an excellent dog play area with several bench seats for the owners. It is the best park in the area. This is not an outstanding park, but the resident owners really work to maintain an above average facility. We would return again. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
Well run park with excellent management team - apparently husband and wife. Although some reviews have mentioned narrow sites designed before the 'big rig' era and multiple slides the management team attempts to space rigs in every other slot as available. Park is clean with updated laundry, shower facilities + a large fenced dog run. What a relief for our dog to be able to run free, exercise and play without the restraint of a lease. As fulltimers we appreciate the large dog run. We have stayed a week on our way to summer in Montana but will stay a second week. Vicksburg and the surrounding area is beautiful and the town offers a wide variety of sites, history and eateries. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Very nice and helpful woman at the ofice, and nice grounds, but way too cramped for our big rig. I like the location, and the neighborhood, but I would not recommend this park to anyone with more than a 38' rig. Not only are the sites narrow (my neighbor had to pull his awning in for us, and we moved the picnic table to accomodate my slide, but the roads are very narrow. My guess is that this was planned before the 40' coach was on the scene, and they have everything in place, and it is too expensive to make changes. I will return to Diamond Jacks(former Ilse of Capri) rather than stay here another trip. We camped here in a Motorhome.
This started with just a 1 nighter, turned into a few nights. I wish there were more parks like this. Friendly, clean, accommodating. There was no problem with having a dog (my dog loved the dog park), children friendly( assorted playground for all ages) and most of all free wireless internet to my motorhome, wow it doesn't get any better. The owners are really nice and they are keeping this park at a top notch park. Great place to stay . It was nice to see the deer not too far from our site. The sites are level and do have plenty of room for slide outs I did notice that they first start filling ever other site thats nice. LP on site was great cause we were running on empty. The owners live on site and office is open 7 days. The owners were always see doing something to upkeep this park. I would definitely return and let other know., It is only 1 mile from interstate and so close within a couple of minutes to everything in the city, We camped here in a Motorhome.
We were skeptical about staying because other reviews noted that the sites are narrow and we have a 40' 5th wheel with 3 slides. I called the park and the owner was very honest and said that they are narrow and they do their best to fill every other site around large rigs who are staying longer term. She was also extremely helpful with questions about the wi-fi access. My husband tele-commutes and internet access is critical. So...we pulled in our site and had neighbors on both sides and no place to park our truck. Well, owners to the rescue! They explained that both campers where pulling out the next day and we could park our truck at the office for this first night and then we could use the space next to us to park! Wow...now, that is a save. So instead of thinking about only staying for a night, we are now signed up for 1 week and possibly 2. The campground is extremely animal and child friendly. They have a fenced dog park with doggie bags and trash receptical. Next to it is a playground with nice equipment. They even have toys in the lobby for little ones to play with. I haven't used the showers, so I can't comment, although the bathroom stalls were clean. The location is wonderful. You are off the main road, but not far. There is a Wal-Mart SuperCenter about 3 minutes down the road as well as food/grocery/shopping within 5 minutes. When we checked in, we were given some brochures on Vicksburg where the owners had highlighted points of interest and mapped them out for us. They also told us about a special Christmas event happening at the railroad station with Santa happening the next evening. My two year old will love it. The owners make you feel very welcome and like you are friends. As far as the wi-fi goes, we have a great connection from our site, it is a little slow, but so far reliable. Overall, I am very pleased with the campground and would definitely recommend to anyone. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
The owners are very friendly and helpful. We spent a month here. We were included in the Thanksgiving dinner at the community room. The laundry facility and restrooms are very clean. We enjoyed our stay at this park and would stay again if in this area. The park is also very pet friendly as we have a large dog. The pet fenced in area was very nice. They also furnish doggier bags through out the park. We camped here in a Motorhome.

We stayed here two nights and the hosts/owners are very nice and informative. The sites are kind of narrow if you have slideouts, but workable. The location is excellent for visiting Vicksburg and not close to the interstate. A little more enforcement on pets off leash would be nice. While starting out on my motorcycle one afternoon the campers next to us had their dog off leash and I almost ran him over and would have if he went three more inches closer. Would I stay here again, maybe. It was a little higher than other parks. I forgot to mention they had free wireless internet available from the campsite. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
We stayed here for two nights. Seems a new owner has taken over the site in the last three months and lives on site. First let me cover the minuses: no picnic table at our site - had to ask to get one, sites are small - anything over 30 foot with side slide outs will encroach on the adjacent sites // lockboxes were an inconvience but not a major problem // wireless web - first connection comes through real good but quickly deteriorates down to 1 mbps - dropped occassionally // no fire rings (we both like to have a small fire at nite) nor were any fires allowed Neutral: located approx 1 mile from the river you can definitely smell it (my wife at first thought it was a sewer smell, but we determined it was the river and not sewer - the owner strictly enforces the closed sewer connections // saw a couple who had to purchase a new connection because of leakage - Walmart is maybe a mile to the north) // there is a vet's office on the south end of the park - trees separate them- didn't really have a problem with barking dogs and we were very close to it - next to last site at that end of the park Plus: Since we travel with our aussie shepard mix (60lbs) she definitely is a consideration. The park offers a fenced dog park area where you can let your dog run loose // while didn't use it (kids are grown) there was a nice playground for children // close to casinos, shopping and dining (able to take a back route to avoid having to hit the freeways) without being right in the middle of them // pool was nice and well kept, had a deck area for sunning (if you are into that). All in all I would recommend this park with just a few considerations. One thing I learned talking with the new owner, the site is used by many of the pipeline companies to house their surveyors a week at a time (might be reason for lockboxes). Probably had 8 to 10 there when we were and things were quiet and nice and everyone was friendly. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

Very nice park. The grounds were well kept and the sites were level. In talking with the owner found out she had recently taken over this park. Pool was very nice, as was the dog area. It's nice to stay at a place that has a dedicated area for dogs to run, where you can take them off their leashes. The dog area was good sized with benches for the owners (owned?). Many of the benches were in shade areas. Definitely stay there again next time go to Vicksburg We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
First- AAA book for 2006 states price at $18-22 a nite- we had escapee(10-15% off)- so how was my cost$24.88??? Yes, strong order of sewer all the time and there is a dog kennel next door which a lot of dogs bark very early in the am, and though the day! There are lock codes on everything -- wireless internet, bathroom, laundry....very small sites, other than that it was fine. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Very pleasant and capable hostess. Park is clean and well run. Sites are extremely small, my 36' 5th wheel covered all the land at my site-had to park the pickup elsewhere. Neighbor had to move his vehicle to allow me to leave. There is a dog pound or kennel at the west end of the park and the mutts never shut up. There is a lot to see in Vicksburg so this place is tolerable. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
Gravel roads and pads were in pretty good shape. Very quiet while we were there. Sites were too narrow for our liking. Neighbor's slideout was within 5 feet of our door. OK for a one night stay. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
Visited this park while traveling thru. Nice and clean and accommodated us in giving us a site that was closer to playground for our child. Although we have 1 slide not a problem with neighbors still being a good distance. While down on waterfront heard the train but not at park, then again you can be on Biloxi beach and here the train no big deal. This is a nice quiet and safe park. Close to everything. Will definitely return and recommend to friends. The owners are nice and helpful. We camped here in a Motorhome.
VERY narrow site. Woodalls calls for 50ft. More like 15. You cannot have adjoinging sites with slideouts and/or awnings. Older park , the sites are just 40 ish ft each. Most had toads unhooked to fit in site. Level gravel sites. We were awakened at 4 am by a constantly barking dog...this didn't end. We left at 7 am. We camped here in a Motorhome.
I rate this park as a 10 because of the cleanliness of the park and because of the hospitality of the owners. We stayed there 5-6 weeks and felt like we were leaving family when we left. The owners are new and are enthusiastic about maintenance and improving the property. They are always on site and extremely helpful in every way. I never smelled the sewer smell that some other reviews have mentioned and I know that the new owners are trying to get something done about the barking dogs at the Vet's office that is on property next to park. Even though the spots were narrower than would have liked, the owners attempted to leave an empty space between trailers when possible. The dog play area is an extra plus. The laundry was clean. The park is very convenient to the casinos, shopping and all the sites of Vicksburg. To me, our stay at this park was an experience in Southern Hospitality. We hope that we have the opportunity in the future to spend time there again. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
Older, clean park with all pull-thru sites which are gravel. Grass between sites and some trees. Sites are too narrow for modern motorhomes. Only had about 5' from the patio side of my motorhome to the slideout of my neighbor. The sites were so close that when I hooked up my utilities I had to walk across my neighbor's entry mat. Not any fault of management, but there was a slight sewer smell in the park--this was caused by several campers who did not use a sewer seal to keep sewer gas from escaping(very tacky!). The park personnel were very friendly and helpful. We camped here in a Motorhome.

A nice clean park, just a mile or so away a great BBQ place (Goldies Trail BBQ)
Only negative comment, Train horns in the night. We camped here in a camper.
The staff were OK, but the office small and smoky (cigarettes). Very tight spaces, but level. No atmosphere as we like for camping. OK for overnight, but would not stay there again. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
Bare bones, but the only place in Vicksburg with enough room for a 40 foot 5th wheel to pull in safely. Very nice owners and close to all of the casino action. Pet friendly. Beware, though, a beacon from the airport across the street flashes into the bedroom window all night, if you are close to the main street. The entrance is tough if you are going south, you have to do a U-turn to get into it and it can be tricky with a large RV. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
Staff was nice and easy to find. Sites and roads are wide with gravel and plenty of maneuvering room. Electricity had good voltage, but you might need a regulator for the water pressure. Cable has about 10 channels. Wi-Fi worked intermittly. There isn't any shade, but it's not a parking lot either. We will return. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
Very dusty. There seemed to be quite a few permanents, along with a lot of construction workers staying in the park, but the park did not look run down. Sites were level. Not sure if we would stay there again. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
Enjoyed staying there for nine days, well kept, grassed sites. Friendly owner who is pleasant and runs a tight show. Manager on site. All sites appear to be at a 3% grade so reasonably level. Water sewer and electric connections at rear of site making connection awkward but serviceable. Cable at our site did not work but the campground does have cable--and we were able to pick up local stations with antenna. On the main drag, very convenient to shopping and historical Vicksburg--but set away from the road. We would definitely stay there again. We camped here in a Motorhome.
For Big Rig access, there are no other parks that I have visited that equal River Town Campground. The rear hookups offer a small problem for some rigs. I understand that the reason for installing them at that location is a City Requirement. But, nevertheless, a long sewer hose purchased for less than $20 at a local Wal-Mart solves this problem. If you like being jammed up close to your neighbor, then THIS PARK IS NOT FOR YOU. The average side distance in this park is 40 to 45 Feet apart. The Staff are very considerate and friendly. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Park actually rates a 7. The 3 is because of the "pull throughs". You have to unhook your toad because of the hookups. The hookups are all the way to the back of the site, with 50' of electric and water lines you would be ok. But you would not be able to use the sewer (too much uphill grade regartless of hose length). We also had to unhook the dolly and slide it under the RV to get it out of the road. That was with 30' of sewer hose fully stretched out. They may be able to give you a spot in the back where it might to ok to block the road overnight. We camped here in a Motorhome.
This is a fairly new campground with large open sites. It is easily accessible to shopping and the highways. A large clean laundry room with 4 washers and dryers was not busy. The bath house had many showers which were immaculate. There was a lot of room to walk the dogs. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
Enough room for our large 5th wheel and tow vehicle. Be advised that if you are traveling south on 61, you need to pass the park and make a U turn in order to get into the park. The sewer and water connections were at the very rear of the spot which made it a little difficult for us. Cable was not very good. WiFi was fine. Manager was nice. We would stay here again. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
This RV park is one of the best, restful, roomy, and friendly RV parks that I have stayed in thus far. Rigs of all sizes have no problems parking in the long and wide pull through sites. The owners and staff are very friendly and run a very quite, clean and safe campground. I highly recommend this park for short term or long term stays. We camped here in a Motorhome.
RV PARK REVIEWS NOTE: Owner of this campground attempted to post a great review of this campground and low reviews of other Vicksburg camprounds. We camped here in a Motorhome.

Very quiet park. Plenty of room for big rigs. The down side is 'no shade' so depending on the time of the year it could get pretty uncomfortable. Would definitely stay here again even though it's about 6 miles off I-20 it's still easy access to town. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
A very nice place to spend a couple of days while exploring the Vicksburg area. Plenty of room between sites for maneuvering in and out. Roads are all gravel but was not a problem at all. Bathhouse was very clean. Pool was small but would be welcome on a hot day. WIFI was perfect. Cable only had a few channels but hey, it's free also. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
No shade. No concrete sites. Large clubhouse room for meeting, games, etc. Close to casinos and restaurants. Some highway noise. $150 tickets given for dogs not on leash. Sites very muddy when it rains. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Very nice park. Management was the nicest we have seen. Easy in/out with very nice pull-thrus, recreation center and bath house, pool and playground for the kids. We camped here in a Motorhome.
This Campground is probably the roomiest for Big Rigs that I have encountered. It is extremely clean The Owners and Staff are very courteous and friendly. Also, the Wi fi very usable with multiple access. The rates charged per night is very reasonable. The new salt water swimming pool is fantastic. I highly recommend this Campground for short term or long term stays. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Easy access from US 61, not far from I-20. Clean campground with very friendly, helpful owner. He told us about local sights and suggested an alternate route for our continuation to Texas. Although near the road, it's located on a higher level so road noise was not a problem. We camped here in a Motorhome.
This is a new campground, so there is no shade available, but the facilities are new and the CG is nicely laid out. Very big rig friendly and a large rec hall for groups. The owners were very friendly. They were in the process of planting trees throughout the campground while we were there. It is about 6 miles south of I-20, so a little further from Vicksburg, but it was very quiet there. Better than camping in town and close to a casino. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
Very unpleasant experience. We didnt stay long, and moved to the Ameristar. I wouldnt go back. It would be a one but it is in a great location. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Park does not seem to be well maintained. The first electrical outlet we tried was rusty and did not work. Site are level, even though some of them are on a slope. The park is very convenient to the battleground and only a few kilometres from downtown Vicksburg We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
Shaded sites, hard to tell if maintained well as only stayed one night and then moved over to Isle of Capri RV park. Sites were fairly level. Staff nice. Not a place we cared to stay more than one night. We camped here in a Motorhome.
