We stay at this campground all the time. This is a older campground but they try to keep everything up. This campground is friendly to all ages and types of campers. This campground is right on the Osage River. The fishing is pretty good. The campground has canoes availible for a laid back float from just below Bagnell dam back to the campground for a reasonable fee. The pool is decent sized and is usually pretty clean. They have several camping cabins. The cg is off the main highway 3+ miles so it is pretty quiet. The entire campground is set on a flat river bottom with mature trees throughout. I would reccomend this campground to any one wanting to get away and relax. We camped here in a Motorhome.
We had a great time there. The people was very friendly. It had everything a person would like. Site was big and had picnic tables and burn pits. Would go back We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
This campground is home to monthly or full time campers. There were many trailers set up permanently in the camp. We camped for one night during the office season and it was only OK. Sites were close together. The restrooms were clean. The kids enjoyed the two items on the playground but didn't feel comfortable here letting them out of my site. Although river site, the only access was via the boat ramp. Near our camp spot it was at least 40 feet straight down to the river. I don't think we'll be back. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
I found this park in Woodall's, and I've taken the information about number of sites from their listing. I made a reservation by phone, they didn't ask for a credit card to hold it. When we arrived at the park at 5:30 pm, the office was locked up and the only note on the door said if you arrive when nobody is in the office, just pick a spot. We drove around the park in search of an open spot; there are a lot of semi-permanent residences and only a few spots appeared to be open. The first spot we parked in had a sewer cap that we couldn't open, so we moved over one spot. We did have a beautiful view of the river, which was the park's only redeeming quality. Roads were in fair shape, we were able to navigate 39' motor home reasonably well. They have a row of sites which should be pull-thrus, but for some reason they have the road blocked off so you still have to back into them. Our site only had 30 amp electric, not sure if there was any 50 amp available. When we left the following morning there was still nobody in the office; I finally rang a bell at the door and somebody appeared to collect my money. I would only recommend this park for an overnight stay, definitely not a destination location. We camped here in a Motorhome.
