Was concerned about the negative reviews but the weather was too bad to go past Carson City. This park offers an Escapees price of $26.50 plus tax, which seemed okay for free Wi-Fi (didn't use it; Verizon aircard working well), and cable TV with free HBO. And there's a Costco next door, plus a Trader Joe's in the next shopping center, yay! The swimming pool and spa were empty but it was too cold anyway. Restrooms need a key, were very clean. Some sites are way too close but at least there are shade trees here. Worse problem is trying to level your rig on the roads that slope downward. Sign says that monthly rate is $295 which sounds good but I sure wouldn't want to stay here that long, even with HBO. We camped here in a Motorhome.
What a dump. How can trailer life rate this place a "9". In RV'ing 5 1/2 years full time we have never been in a park where we could not extend our slide outs because a tree was in the way. Our friends next site over could not extend one of their slides because of a lamp. Trees are not trimmed! Trees on the ends of the sites making it real fun getting in and out of the narrow sites onto narrow streets. Nothing but long termers! We camped here in a Motorhome.
A very crowded, tight older park. It is well maintained and with all the development in Carson City the park caters a good portion of it's spots to long term (not permanent) renters. The staff is friendly. The restrooms and showers were very clean but had very poor ventilation. The WiFi was worthless. Lots of road noise as you are at the intersection of two major highways. Sharp turns in the park, we had to drop our tow'd. We camped here in a Motorhome.
I would call this a "mobile" Mobile Home Park. I would venture a guess that 75% of the folks are Lake Tahoe workers seeking cheap accommodations. I don't really care for Rottweilers, but the have dozen or so seemed somewhat sedate. OK for a one nighter! We camped here in a Motorhome.
Sites are tight, loose crushed rock.park is clean and well kept. $35 a night seems a bit high for location of park. They offer no discounts. We camped here in a Motorhome.
The dog walk was great. It was in a good location from the road and nice to be able to go see different places. For as big as this place is, it was quiet. We were in a site that was next to the road and heard no road noise. Site was easy to get in and out of. The pool area was nice and clean and kids had fun. Service was good. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
This campground is in a great location to visit Lake Tahoe. Even though it is near two highways, it was very quiet. Trees separate the sites. The staff was very friendly and helpful. We arrived late and all of our information was by the office door. The bathrooms and showers were sparkling clean. The pool area is very pretty. Would defintely stay here again. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
We traveled all summer and used Trailer Life Directory as our guide. On this park they were really off! No 50 amp. for short term stay. 80% of park are "seasonal"workers. Most sites were tight and gravel. Staff not at all friendly. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
Generally, for a County RV park, this is quite nice. Lots of trees, shade and clean facilities. Given its proximity to Reno, during the weekends, you get a bunch of locals that bring their contractor style generators. Much better during the week. Only a handful of sites are easy access for larger units. It is a challenge to get your unit level. Having been there in the past, it was much nicer for $11 than the $15+, add $ for each pet and $ for an extra vehicle, you might was well go somewhere else with full hookups. Not recommended for large trailers or motor homes. Good family type campground. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
This Washoe County park is a nice little campground located in lovely tall trees north of Carson City, and south of Reno just off the highway. Very peaceful and quiet, no highway noise at all. No hookups, but it does have bathrooms and showers. Keep away from this park if you have anything longer than about 30' -- we took our 40' motor home in, but had a heck of a time negotiating the turns, and had to back out. Roads and pull-throughs are paved, but not terribly level. A much better deal when it was only $11 a night last year. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Overall, this is a nice park, especially for a quick in and out with access to grocery, casinos, freeway, and local attractions. Sites are very close. No cable, only a few local channels. BUT, and it's a big BUT, the sites not very big rig friendly, at least in the definition of my big rig. Maybe we need a new definition of what a big rig is. For motor homes up to 40 feet, there's easy access in and out of the sites after you unhook your tow vehicle. But, if you're a 40 ft 5er being pulled by a large pickup or medium-duty truck, it's a pain. Forget about getting out if your neighbor's car/truck is parked in front of or next to their motorhome or trailer. Especially if you're in the row next to the main building. Everybody with anything bigger than a Ford Explorer has to park sideways across the front of the trailer because the side parking spaces for the site are for a compact-size car. Other than this one issue, it's a real nice little park. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
The park is really tight and spaces are really close. Not much room to park your toad. Many full time RV campers here. Nice casino. Wifi available in the nearby casino office. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Nice park for dry camping in the off season. Quiet and empty. Staff is polite and helpful. Plenty to do in the area and at the lake during the summer. This is pure dry camping. The water available from water faucets is not drinkable - a general condition around the entire valley (I lived in the valley for 5 years prior to camping here). But during our stay here, there was a boil water notice because of bacteria found in the water, which seemed to be particular to the park water system. There are two showers and two toilets/sinks for each loop of 20 to 30 sites each. While the bathroom was clean, the shower (I used once) never got beyond just warm, is in a large non-heated room without a shower curtain, and had a mature female black widow nesting in a corner above the seat and clothes hanger. A must is to very carefully check clothes before putting them on. The lake is large (about 4 x 2 miles) and when full offers cat -fishing, great kayaking, boating, wind surfing, and more. It's a very shallow lake (no more than about 12 feet). Best time to visit here is in the late spring after a wet winter. The north end of the lake has wet marshes with lots of water fowl and is usually stocked with catfish then. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
Very nice state park with views to the west of Washoe Lake and the Sierra. The campground is not right next to the lake but you do have a view of it from the campsites. We stayed here after Labor Day so the park was not busy and we found a nice level pull through with trees. Many sites had trees which provided shade. No hookups but water faucets are distributed throughout the campground if you need to add water to your RV. Lots of open areas for dog walking which was great for our two dogs. Only caution is the wind normally blows a lot in this area especially in the afternoon but when the sun goes down it usually stops blowing. Nice location off the highway but close to Carson City and all services. We would definitely camp here again. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
Although not as shady as Davis Creek Park across the valley from this site, this park is quite clean, big rig friendly and a whole lot quieter. Some units have shade structures. We were lucky, Washoe Lake was at the brim and the views were good. Sometimes it is drained and not quite as scenic. Good public facility! We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
Chose this over all the parking lot type RV parks in Carson City. Very quiet, nice views. Some sites had shade shelters over the picnic table. Many trails for walking, biking or horses. Would stay here again. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
