This is a rustic Campground with tent and rv sites. The owners greeted us upon our arrival. Check-in was very easy and they provided an escort to the campsite (great customer service). They were very helpful with area information and made some recommendations about some hiking trails within the area. This campground is in a great location. You are close to the Kancamagus Highway in the White Mountain National Forest. There is also great shopping at the outlets in North Conway. The campground has all different kinds of activities. They do have Wifi but you need to be near the office. Wifi does not work at the camp sites. They do have a rec hall with a t.v., arcade, board games, ping pong table etc... The campground also has an in-ground pool to cool you off on those hot days... There is also a small fishing pond. We would return to this campground if we were planning another trip in this area. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
Although rustic (clean facilities however) this is a good campground to get away from it all. It has access to the Swift River and moose have been seen within the campground. We found all utilities to be functional. We camped in site 62 which was surrounded by trees, but had cable TV. Tree trimming was needed. The only disturbance was early morning weapons discharge from a nearby gun club. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
This campground in very "rustic". When we first arrived I wasn't too sure about it as it seemed a bit run down and in need of some TLC. However, it turned out to be very good. The staff are great and helpful. The sites are big but too shady for my liking. If the temperatures had been in the high 90s it would have been great to be in the woods but I found it very dark and gloomy. I did not use the restrooms or showers but they also looked very "rustic". It is situated in a good location for touring the White Mountains which are gorgeous. I don't think I would stay again at this campground although they did cut us a very good deal. We stayed over the two weekends before and after the 4th July and they honoued our Passport America for 8 nights out of the 12 we stayed. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
Like other reviewers have stated, this campground is a bit rustic. However, we found the owners friendly and accommodating. If you have kids, they have a small beach next to a creek that is perfect cooling off. We found our site clean, recently raked, and ready for our arrival. We will stay there again. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
We have camped at this campground for the past 2 - 3 years. We do not go to campgrounds for the amenities that are offered, but for the location of the campground. We love North Conway and this campground fit into our visit and plans. We camped mostly in the safari field, but we wanted to camp on the river. I booked site 31 on the river back in November of 2008 for a visit in July of 2009. I received email confirmation from the owner stating that we had the site and that they looked forward to seeing us again in July. I was floored when I received a letter asking for a deposit in April when the letter stated that I WAS NOT going to be on the site I had asked for, site 31 river. I called the office and was told that the site was given to someone else and basically, too bad!! Now I would not have been upset over this, but I was told the prior season that if I wanted this site I needed to book it WAY in advance. We booked the site via their web site on November 27th and received an email confirmation on December 1st claiming that the site was ours!!! We will not be returning to Tamworth camping area ever again because of this. This issue created a big problem for us because we had to scramble to find another place to stay for our week long vacation. For us, vacations need to be planned well in advance and the fact that Tamworth had an I don't care attitude really upset us. They have no respect for their customers. The owner should have called us well in advance to let us know that this was happening so that we could make other plans for our vacation, either with them OR another campground. As for the other review of Tamworth Camping Area, it is spot on about the condition of the campground. WE DID NOT STAY. We camped here in a Motorhome.

Do not let the pictures posted in their website fool you. The CG looks nothing like the pictures posted. I imagine there had to be years of neglect to get the CG to look the way it does at present. We had camped in tents with friends years ago and had very fond memories so we decided to return in our TT this weekend. What a HUGE disappointment. Out first clue should have been the broken down cars and farm equipment at the entrance. The “petting zoo” was a joke. The animals looked unkempt and the barn and fence where the animals were housed needed repairs. The office is run down and dirty. On our way to our campsite we had to pass cottages in complete disrepair and run down campers. I will have to admit that some of the sites (especially on the river) were quite nice. (Luckily for us the people hadn’t had a chance to ruin what nature had created) Everything in the place looked like it needed to be cleaned, repaired and/or updated. We didn’t dare try the ‘bathhouses’ since they looked like glorified outhouses with painted plywood for walls. On our way out (we checked out early) we passed a section of the CG that was being used as a landfill with scrap metal, tires etc thrown into a huge pile. Everything about this CG and facilities screamed “dumpy”. We would not recommend this CG and we will not go back…….. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
