Really loved this campground. As others have said the road getting up here (Hwy 35) can be windy, narrow and bumpy but the campground itself is very spacious and big-rig friendly (we're 40-foot and had plenty of room to spare). There are actually 2 campgrounds within 1 mile of each other around Lake Roberts: the lower one is called Upper End and is on level w/ the lake, but no views of it. The upper one is Mesa and is overlooking the lake (and some sites have views of the lake). Sites are large, flat paved with lots of space and separation, picnic table, grill and fire-pit. There's a selection of electric and non-hookup. No showers, but flush toilets are on-site. DUMP station available at Mesa Campground. Lots of nearby hiking and a good base to explore Gila Forest and the Cliff Dwellings. It's almost totally empty during the week, but fills up on the week-end. Overall we loved the place and would definitely come back. (NOTE: NO Verizon coverage here, nor further up at Gila Cliff Dwellings) We camped here in a Motorhome.

A great campground. Several things to consider. The very windy, narrow roads can be tough to navigate to get to the campground. Remember: there are no pull-through sites with hookups, and there are no showers! Also, the summer months are very overcrowded and can be pretty noisy. The weekends are busy. The weekdays are best from September to early December, and February to early May. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

Well laid-out park with paved roads and pull throughs. Overlooks Lake Roberts in the Gila National Forest and is operated by the NFS. Large sites on a high cliff overlooking the Lake. Great views, but it might be a concern for families with small children. A second campground on the lake, Upper End, is just a mile away without the hilltop views, but with a boat ramp and dump station. Good location for visiting Gila Cliff Dwellings National Monument, fishing, and wilderness hiking. No hookups or showers, but has flush toilets and water points. We were there in mid-May and there were only two or three other campers. We camped here in a Tent Trailer.

Only draw back is the sites are narrow. Would have rated higher otherwise. Most sites are shaded, all are gravel but really pretty level and long. Restrooms are 1 mens, 1 womens and are huge and beautifully decorated. Very nice club house with Wi-Fi for guests. Gas, a good restaurant, and medical all close by. Managers and workers very nice and helpful. Would stay here again. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

Camp hosts very hospitable. No 50 amp service was available when we were there - but had no problem. Some tree stumps that we had to maneuver around - but again - not a major problem. Owner said they were doing a clean up of them. Beautiful setting and overall nice park. Would definitely go back. Good selection of books and DVDs. We camped here in a Motorhome.

Very hospitable owners and hosts. They go the extra mile to make your stay enjoyable and trouble free. Convenient local services available. The Wal-Mart in Silver City is 20 minutes away for larger purchases. People in the area a very friendly. Horses and cattle can be viewed on a ranch across the road from the RV Park. We camped here in a Motorhome.
