New upbeat owners working very hard to improve the park. Clean facilities. Near Bonita Lake for trout and great hiking surrounded by Ponderosa pines. The stream running through the park holds trout; I didn't have any luck, but that's on me. We did have luck at the local casino. If we ever get back in the area we'll stay there. Grass and gravel in the park and pets are welcome. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Rate was Passport. Steep gravel hill to get onto highway, on a corner. Sites are short. Dog waste at our site, from the owner's dog. Owner seemed strange. Nice quiet camp with good views. Don't think we'd go back! We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
"Along the River" or "Sundance". Who knows. Owner changes name so bad reviews do not follow. Horrible RV park. Basically a parking lot with gravel and a few trees. On arrival, owner's dog attacked ours (after we asked if dog was friendly). Garbage and rotting furniture around site. Trailers were packed together like sardines. Road noise galore! No Internet (yet advertised). Owner was gruff and unfriendly. We stayed here 1 night of an 8 night stay. Owner refused to refund remainder of 8 day payment. Was worth sacrificing the money. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
This place is the pits. Matter of fact it is in a pit. When leaving you really need someone out on the highway watching for oncoming traffic because you need to get a run at it to get out of the place. Owner/operator has an attitude of "take it or leave it". He assigned us a site that was almost impossible to get into. Also no sewer dump at the site and a "tough luck" response. I had rather overnight at a Wal-Mart than spend another night here. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
This review is being written for members of Passport America and may or may not apply to others. We called to make reservations and we were told that we didn't need one, after we said we would be using our Passport America membership. After getting to the park, we were charged $20 a night for one of the pull-thrus but the rate should have been $12.48 a night. When I questioned the manager about this he said he has raised his rates. My wife asked why we couldn't have one of the river sites. The manager said that those were more expensive and we couldn't have one of those at our rate. After talking it over we got our money back and left. Be careful pulling to the park. Very steep gravel driveway! We camped here in a Motorhome.
Heavily wooded park with a great stream running through the middle of the campground. Owner was great to visit with and came by our site regularly to check on us. Large tent sites with many trees making for a secluded camping experience. However, motorhomes were kind of close together. The prettiest and roomiest campground we have experienced. Had a great host and we will return. RV parks closer in to Ruidosa are sardine factories and not for us. Restrooms/showers were squeaky clean and they even provided towels. Outstanding! Thanks for a great camping experience. We camped here in a Tent Trailer.
Park has unlevel sites, no "river front" sites, unclean restrooms, and the owner/manager is RUDE, RUDE, RUDE. I don't think he cares whether he has business or not, so he sure won't get ours again. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
I loved the sign at the door about being nasty. After reading some of the prior reviews, I really wonder who the nasty one was. We found this owner to be nice, easy to get along with, and full of good local info. Our site was of decent size, had good electric and water, and good WiFi reception. Our only complaint was the road noise. Would go back again, really enjoyed Ruidoso area. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
We noticed a sign on the door saying something like, "If you're rude, go away." After the owner quoted his $29 price, I mentioned a half price camping club deal and he said those sites were no longer available. Even his website quotes a $19.95 price. I laughed saying, "That's what they all say," referring to how CG's can renig on their posted prices after you've driven all the way to their park. He handed me the registration slip, saying, "You can't stay here" and he walked out to finish something he was working on in back. Did I catch him on a bad hair day? I think I'd recommend you try one of the other numerous parks nearby. Why let him insult you this way? We camped here in a Motorhome.
If you are looking for a laid back prime location with spacious sites which include fire rings and picnic tables, some with rocker style swings, then this is it! Do yourself a favor: if you are not a friendly type and willing to pay for a great location, GO elsewhere! There are too many who appreciate what this owner has to offer at Sundance. You can go cheap at other RV parks in the area, that cram the units in like sardines, but then you get what you pay for! The folks who stayed in the park while we were here, were very helpful and friendly. We even shared dinner (pot-luck) with other campers and enjoyed a guitar sing-along courtesy of one. Our week was A-1 and we'll be back! We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
This place is terrible! The restrooms were nasty and the showers did not work, very run down. The owner is some piece of work. He lied to me about the price, he said it was 19.95, when I arrived, the price had doubled!! This guy has serious issues. He was very rude and I thought he was going to hurt me at some point. This is not a friendly place. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Reading the reviews on this RV Park it is obvious that people either love it or hate it. The park itself is not bad, but the owners attitude just kills any thought of returning. It is listed as a Passport America park. We were there with a group of 4 rigs and two of the rigs he charged the PA rate and two he charged full price. He has the poorest attitude of anyone I think I have ever dealt with. If we had any option we would have left on the spot. The park is isolated from Ruidoso, but that is OK; it is in a pretty area but we won't be back just because of the surly attitude of the owner. It's also very steep gravel drive getting in and out of the park. One camper with a bumper pull trailer (who had too much tension on his equalizer bars) had to take a couple of hard runs at it to get out of the place because he wasn't set up right and it is very steep. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
Out of all of the campsites that we visited and compared, this one tops them all. We stayed on the stream and it was breathtaking. Our son loved playing in the water and playing hide and go seek with our friend's kids. It was a perfect set-up for traveling with friends. The grill, fire pits, tables and swings were behind our trailer, so we could enjoy everything together. The playground was missing some swings, but the boys didn't miss them. Yes, there is only one bathroom with a shower and it is clean, but you have full hook-ups if you do not want to wait on someone. The map is deceiving, but once you get here and see everything, who cares! There were portable units across the stream, but we never needed to use them. The parks RV sites were all full when we were here, and we never had to wait on the restroom. The owner was very friendly and informative. He let me tour the cabins that he rents out and they are very nice. We will definitely be back and will recommend this site to all of our friends. Owner is still working on the place and making improvements daily. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
My family and I stayed in this campground because it was the hosting location for a Toyota Land Cruiser rally. Tent camping was free with the event registration. There were lots of trees and shade. The owner frequently asked if we were enjoying our stay and if there was anything he could do for us. There was a small playground for the kids and the stream also provided plenty of entertainment for them. My only complaint is that most of the tent sites are across the stream from the RV side of the campground where the bathrooms/showers are located. The stream was too big to cross on rocks or logs. The bridge to cross it was several hundred feet from our campsite. There weren't any permanent bathrooms on that side of the creek but the owner had port-a-potties brought in for the weekend event. I am happy with experience. We camped here in a Tent.

The tent sites are very nice and the stream was flowing. The bathrooms were porta-potties with one bathroom shower that was broken and very dirty. The bathroom/shower in the guest house was made available but sometimes there was a long wait (campground was 80% full) we just went to a nearby gas station to use the bathroom and sponge bathed. We camped here in a Tent.
Our family stayed for three days two nights. We had a great time. It was very quite and clean. We saw a family of deer walk by our camp site. The owner was very informative and concerned with all his campers. He was cheerful everyday and was willing to assist any camper with any issues so they could enjoy their visit. We will be visiting Sundance Park and Campground in Ruidoso, New Mexico soon. We camped here in a Tent.

This place is terrible! The owner was rude and lied to us! Rates were not as advertised. This place is a dump! The bathrooms were filthy. I'd rather stay behind the bus station than this place. It ruined our whole vacation. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
I absolutely do not understand these high ratings. For such a small park there sure are a lot of ratings, almost all top ratings. I question who is rating this place? We chose this place solely on the ratings and were we extremely disappointed. Our complaints are numerous. 1) They would not honor our Passport America, even though they show no restrictions in the PA book. 2) When we called to inquire, we were told there was only 1 more place left, so we felt pressure to book before we checked this place out. The 1st night they were only 50% filled, the 2nd night approximately 60% full. 3) No one has mentioned in these reviews, there is a 14 kilowatt/hour electrical limit per day. This may be adequate for the dominant pop-ups and trailers here, but not for a motorhome. We used propane for everything, and still went over on electricity. It was charged at 18 cents per kilowatt/hour. 4) We were not told about this charge until we paid and almost set up. Owner came over and read our meter and told us of this limit. 5) The campfire pit for the next site was within 2 1/2 ft of our motorhome. We were worried the entire time, the neighbors would start a fire and damage or burn up our RV. 6) The map of the campground is false. There are no teepees and there are not several bathrooms. 7) There is 1 deplorable unisex bathroom for all the RVs and tents. One morning a man was pacing outside the bathroom desperate for the person taking a shower to vacate. 8) This gravel park is not in Rudioso. It is north of Alto. 9) The owner is not consistent in his pricing. The people next to us (in full hook-up as we were), paid $20 per night. We were charged $25 and remember they would not honor our Passport America. 10) There is an additional $8 charge for the TV hookup. 11) I find it highly unusual there are so many past review comments on this owner. Usually you hear more about the facilities, not the personnel. This owner does have a very strong personality. He is as quick to welcome you, as he is to kick you out if you complain. We wish he would have kicked us out, so we could have gotten out of this place. There are no amenities to this park. We would NEVER return to this place. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Sundance RV park was a great spot for our spring break outing with our kids and friends. We stayed three nights and enjoyed it all, even the little bit of rain and hail. The river ran hard and the kids enjoyed fishing in the river. Owner visited with us and enjoyed a few beers and a nice conversation. He provided firewood for us. The bathroom and shower were nice and clean. He could use another shower, but why be in a hurry when your in a great place to stay. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

The park and the owner were perfect for the getaway we had in mind. He is extremely professional and friendly. His RV park is in excellent condition and has many amenities, like the playground and river front sites. We are definitely going to return as soon and as often as we can. I am also going to recommend this RV park to all of my friends who participate in tournaments in Ruidoso and my family for our family reunion. Thank you! Keep up the good work! We camped here in a Motorhome.
Fantastic place to visit. The owner went above and beyond for us. Our campsite had wood for us to use, great site by the river, picnic table and fire ring very close, good access and pleasant environment. Will definitely return. Very nice place to stay. We camped here in a Tent Trailer.
Had a great time. The river was full, and there wasn't any bugs this time of year. Management was very friendly. I would definitely camp here again. We camped here in a Tent.

We really enjoyed our stay here. The owner, was accommodating and friendly, always around if you needed anything. I usually tent camp and was a bit worried about making reservations at an RV park, but all my worries fell away when I saw the beautiful view. The cabin we stayed in overlooked a small river and there were lots of trees. We were also able to bring our dog, who really enjoyed the snow. The location is great to, not in the middle of town ,but close enough to everything-the lake and trails, Ski Apache and the town. I would definitely stay here again. My 3 girls and I really enjoyed our second stay at Sundance. Last year we came snow skiing in our 1965 Apache Hard Sided Pop-up. This year for Christmas and New Years, the owner let us rent a 33 foot camper that was already set up. What a convenience. We skied for 3 days, my girls enjoyed playing in the snow along the running creek, and they even loved playing with the owners dogs, since we couldn't bring our dog. Thanks, we will see you again either Spring Break before the skiing shuts down, or next winter! We camped here in a Tent Trailer.

My daughter and I LOVED this campground! The scenery was breathtaking. I liked how each space was provided with picnic tables, chairs, swing, fire pit. The owner would come around occasionally to make sure we were ok and to see if we needed anything. He was very hospitable. The walking trails were in excellent condition. We enjoyed watching the deer at night and in the morning. I will definitely go back and I will tell all my friends about it. Even my friends who do not have a camper can rent one on-site and enjoy the beautiful campground as well. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
This was our first time camping at this rv park and it was the greatest experience we have ever had. Our kids played in the stream our dog just loved it, and the owner was the greatest person. He just made our stay so comfortable we didn't want to leave. If you have seen any bad reports on this campground it's because the people putting those reports weren't normal. We will return with the rest of our family soon. We camped here in a Tent Trailer.
we really enjoyed our stay. It is a beautiful location and very quiet and relaxing. The owner was extremely helpful with all our needs and requests. It is a fairly new campground and he has put in a lot of effort to transform it in to a first class facility. We will definitely return next year to our "new New Mexico home. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
My wife and I spent 8 nights at this campground and had a most wonderful time. Owner was most cordial to us and was very helpful about things in the surrounding area that were of interest to us. We especially enjoyed having our camper located on a site on the river. My wife's sister and her husband had their trailer here also and this owner made every effort to ensure that we had adjoining campsites. We shared sites number 11 and 12. I would recommend this campground to others. Since we stayed and paid for 7 nights we got the 8th night free. We checked on some other campgrounds in the nearby area and felt that we got a bargain at Sundance. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
I would have rated this campground higher if it had more bathrooms. It has one toilet and shower for the whole campground and the toilet and shower are both in the same room!! They will also charge for electric if you use over 14kw. The web site does not state this. They also do not have cable. We camped here in a Tent Trailer.

Don't camp here unless you like confrontation. The owner is not a gentleman. He used profanity when we wanted a refund. We were afraid for our safety. This guy needs to be stopped. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
There is no "river" in this park and the owner says "everybody knows the Rio Bonita is dry", but that is not the message when calling for a reservation or on their website. The owner is the rudest person, seems to be asking for local law enforcement to have to step in. I would never go back and will tell everyone I know not to go to this park. The owner says if you don't like it (dry "river", etc) to go somewhere else. He obviously doesn't need the business, so I will make sure I never go back. He just about ruined Ruidoso for several of us--maybe the whole town doesn't want tourists! We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
The only problem we saw was that the owners need to add another restroom and shower and finish maintenance on the one here. We enjoyed the solitude and regretted there was NO WATER in the stream. Had a great host and we enjoyed visiting with him. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

BEWARE of the owner who is extremely rude and discusting! He stated, "You can sit in your lawn chair along the river." There is no " river." When we questioned him about it, he became almost violent and told us to leave. We asked for our money back and he refused and even refused to provide a receipt. We camped here in a Motorhome.
When we camped here, the area was having a bad drought. This caused the river to be just a trickle. We camped here before, when the river was flowing fast. It may not be what some people expect when they hear the word "river". It is better described as a stream. This is a very pretty place. Our boys had a great time sailing homemade boats attatched to fishing line. The owner worked very hard to accommodate us over Memorial Day weekend during our first stay when the campground was very full. We will return here often. It is awesome to make s'mores at your campfire with the sound of the river nearby.(Call ahead to check drought conditions to see if fires are allowed, if that's important to you.) The only drawback is that lack of shower/bath facilities noted in a previous post. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
This was the first time we camped at Sundance. It was great. Although we have camped in Ruidoso before this is the first time we felt like we were camping in the woods: lots of trees. We camped during one of the busiest times of the year, and even though the sites were filled, the space between the sites were large enough that we did not disturb each other. The owner was very helpful and friendly, always seemed nearby when you needed him. We plan on going back again this summer with our family. We camped here in a Tent Trailer.

We were so happy to have found Sundance RV Campground! The setting was so peaceful, surrounded by mountains. Owner was so nice and even came to our site on New Year's Eve for a little New Year's Eve celebration. We had a great time! We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
My husband, son, and I stayed at this location for 2 nights and had a fantastic time. Owner was very attentive to our needs. The restroom, shower, and each campsite was very clean and well kept up. I was very impressed with the fact that he had a hose hooked up to the faucets at every fire ring, being a boyscout leader I always make sure we have a bucket of water next to every fire and it was nice to not have to worry about this task since he already had. This location was fantastic and we sure will return here and will encourage others too as well. We camped here in a Tent Trailer.
Thanks for the enjoyable weekend at your RV park. When we come back up to the Ruidoso area again, we will definitely stay in your park. Your riverside campsites were exceptional and the wildlife spectacular (4 raccoons and 30 deer w/1 young buck 50 feet from our RV.) Thanks for allowing us to remain parked for a couple hours after checkout while we enjoyed the sites of Ruidoso and grabbed a quick lunch. Oh by the way, our 2 dogs and cat enjoyed the stay as well. Sundance RV Campground was wonderful! My husband and I were looking for a quiet, serene place to stay, and we found it here. The area is so beautiful, with a stream flowing through the middle of the campground. We pitched our tent not even 8 feet from the stream. The owner was wonderful. He was always around when you needed something (we actually never did, everything was perfect), and his two dogs are extremely friendly. If you are looking for a place that is peaceful and secluded, this is it. The tent site we stayed at was far from everyone else. It was great! We were looking for a place to escape from the heat and wanted to experience some of the good old values of camping without all the work. This place is it. The friendly owner really made an effort to clear and mow areas around the camp sites so that we were very comfortable with our children's safety. He even suggested and provided a very nice spot next to the river/stream for a campfire. There are areas for large buses and also areas among the trees which are trimmed nicely. We located this park last summer while searching on the internet for a campground that was
not directly in Ruidoso, but close. We found this park to be the best possible. It is a family oriented facilty and since we had taken our 5yr.old grandson on vacation with us, this was very pleasing. The owner of the park, is very kind and friendly, and often you will find him visiting all of the campsites, making sure everyone's needs are being met. It is located in the Benito Canyon and just minutes away from Benito Lake, which provides great fishing. We feel that we have truly found our home away from home, and whether it is for a vacation, or just an overnight stay, you will find this park to be exactly what you are looking for. We also, have since learned, that the park will soon be expanding, to handle those extra tenters or rv'ers. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
When we arrived, the campground looked abandoned. We knocked on the Manger's office, but no one answered. We decided to drive through the park to see if we could find someone. We were chased down by a lady in a truck, who when we stopped, proceeded to scream at us about not being able to drive through the park. It was surreal. The kids' playground was rundown and covered with weeds. There was horse scat all over the place. Definitely won't go back. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
The owners are a wonderful couple from Amsterdam. We all felt immediately welcome and at glad to call 'Hombre' our home for a few days. The owners were incredibly helpful and run an efficient yet very relaxed campground. Our friends stayed in a very cozy cabin in the same park that was an incredible deal at $75/night. We all rented skis for $10/day. This made skiing very convenient. The downside (if any) would be the distance to town (25 min) and the high cost of the RV sites. We should have opted for a site without the shelter ($35) since it was too cold to be outside most of the time. Site prices still seems high when you compare our friend's cozy cabin with all the amenities provided for a mere $40 more, we felt the prices for a plot of dirt and utilities to be a bit high since we were providing everything else for ourselves and there were hardly any other campers. We should have gotten low season rates. I also noticed that RVers are charged daily for firewood while cabins, get all the firewood they want. I think they are trying to discourage outdoor fires, but with already high site prices, I think this should be rethought. We also had to pay $3/day for our dog. Fortunately, with so few campers around, he was able to run free with the owners' dogs which made it worth that charge. In busy season, I'm sure this would not be allowed. We would definitely stay here again. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
This place is HORRIBLE. It is run down, dirty, expensive and definitely the worst RV park we have ever stayed at. The sites are very hard to get to (up a steep hill) have weeds all over and it is very unkempt. There was a big pile of animal waste (looked to big to be a dog) right by the office. They also charge extra for everything, such as if guests want to stop by, if you want to have a fire, etc. Will never stay here again. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
Tortuous entry, were told we would need 4 wheel drive low to get to site. Super pull through site not bad when you eventally get there. 15 miles out of town, remote & secluded. $3 daily fee for our small dog. Bathrooms & showers very poor, never cleaned. Pool area filthy. Very run down, badly needs update investment. Very expensive and they charge extra for just about everything, would only return if the price was a lot cheaper. Only redeeming factor were the pretty views. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
We had a wonderful stay at this park. The staff was very helpful and always friendly and smiling. We went horseback riding one day with our 9-year old novice granddaughter, and by the time she got back, she felt like an equestrienne. Now we have to buy a horse! Stay at here and have a great stay! We stayed at this rv park because, according to their website, they have all these great activities for families. When I called to reserve two sites, I specifically told them that I needed two spaces next to each other. The host assured me she had reserved two spaces side by side, and she even gave me the space numbers we would be in. However, when we arrived, it was a totally different story. They gave me two spaces diagonally from one another. The spaces had another camper between us which was very inconvenient. When I told them the spaces were supposed to be together, and gave them the numbers I was assigned, they said it was taken and we'd have to stay in the spots they assigned us. Ridiculous! Well the only "great" thing about this place was the view. The pool was disgusting. The water was cloudy and green, and the room it was in smelled very bad. The basketball court they claimed to have was nothing more than a goal stuck in a field of grass and dirt (no pavement to actually bounce the ball). The hosts at this park were not very helpful. Everytime I needed to go to the office to ask a question, no one was ever there. I wouldn't want to stay here again. It needs a lot of updating, and they need to tie down their dog. They expect everyone there to tie down their dogs, well they should lead by example and do it themselves! We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

It was ok it wasn't as good as the sundance RV park they didn't have a stream. We camped here in a Tent Trailer.
When we first checked in the managers were nice enough but by the end of the stay the man was almost harassing. They did not keep the noise levels down by other campers, but seemed obsessed with our fire to the point that he sat at the end of our site to watch us. The spa and pool were so dirty that there is no way that I would get into them. The location was very pretty but I will not be treated as he treated us and will not return. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
We arrived at the camp site with confirmation in hand and were rudely advised that we
could not stay because we did not have chains or snow tires. We showed them our confirmation which did not mention snow tires or chains, but they refused to allow us to stay. The roads to the campground were unpaved and covered with ice making it very hazardous and certainly chains are advisable. However, it was not mentioned, and we later noticed that all other rv parks in the area were paved or sufficient gravel was in place to absorb the ice. The owners of the campsite were extremely rude. They did return my deposit, but they made no suggestions and offered no help in assisting us in getting out of the campground. We had to back out and required several attempts due to the fact that the roads were in such bad condition, and the terrain was very "hilly". They advertise that they have a heated pool and sauna, but we were advised by others that the pool is not heated, and the hot tub is very dirty and not fit for use. I do not recommend this campsite. We were fortunate enough to find a campsite nearer the ski lodge and had a very positive experience there. That campsite is Sundance Lodge. I strongly recommend Sundance Lodge. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

I was informed that this site was very accessable to Ski Apache and it was not. I spent $150 per night with the assumption that the pool and hot tub were going to be in good enough shape to use. The indoor pool was too cold to get in, and the hot tub had a build up of who knows what in it. And when we lit the fireplace with the flue open the smoke engulfed our cabin. We went to talk to the owners about our situation and they told us that we were doing something wrong and that they did not believe us. They then told us to not even use the fireplace and that they discuss these accusations in the morning. I am very disappointed in this campground. They made this place out to be cabins when they were actually just mobile homes with wood siding. Very disappointed. The owners have no compassion for their customers! We camped here in a Campground Cabins.

The management of this park is not concerned for their patrons. We were involved in a near fatal automobile accident the day we were to arrive at the RV park. Our truck and 5th wheel were a total loss, and we were transported to the hospital via ambulance along with the 8 people in the van that collided with our truck and trailer. I called the RV park from the hospital to inform them of the situation and that we wouldn't be able to make our reservations. They canceled our reservations, but then charged us $114.00 for half the week stay that we had planned at their park. They explained to me that having a near fatal automobile accident and totalling both truck and 5th wheel RV was not "their responsibility". We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
This was a small no frills park attached to a motel. The owner/manager was very friendly and accommodating. We had evacuated our rig storage site and home due to a forest fire and she charged us only 1/2 of normal rate. Most other parks in the area would not even consider such a benevolent approach. We encountered a wire problem with the 50 amp at our site but the thirty amp was OK. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
This park is set on a hillside, but the gravel sites are level with paved interior roads. Their permanent residents are in one section of the park and the traveling folks in another section. Very helpful and friendly park manager. Definitely plan to stay here again. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
Destination park in pine covered mountains of New Mexico at 7300 ft. Easy and well marked access off US 70 just east of Ruidoso Downs close to many attractions in the area. Friendly office staff with an escort to your site. Must disconnect water at sundown during winter due to freezing temps. Be sure to fill up on board water tank before sun down. Good paved interior roads with packed gravel, long mostly level sites with room to maneuver. Lots of room for slides. Picnic table at each site with shade trees. Utilities conveniently located and worked properly with good 50 amp service. Good free Wi-Fi. Strong cell phone signal. Good cable TV signal with 27 channels. One of the best stocked RV supply stores we have seen. No plane, train or traffic noise. Clean well maintained showers and laundry room. Would return if in the area. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
This campground is the first one we have stayed at where we were escorted to our site, and the owner actually had a spirit level to make sure that we were level! Not that he really needed it, the site was perfect! The park is well maintained, lots of trees and fantastically fast wi-fi. The owner has a great sense of humor and is very knowledgeable about the area of Ruidoso, which by the way is beautiful! Temperatures were below zero at night when we were there, and the owner is very pedantic about ensuring that your and his water pipes don't freeze, so much so that he knocked on our door reminding us that we needed to unhook one night. We didn't use the bathrooms, but I always go and check them out anyway , spotless. Only oddity was the sign advising that they are closed every night between 10.:00 pm and 7:00 am. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
Rate is based on monthly stay. This is a great RV Park. Quiet and convenient location. All facilities are clean and well kept. Stayed 2 months and will be back. Only fault I found was when the park was full (which it usually is) we could not get WiFi at our western edge of park site. Reception available in lounge. This is by far the nicest RV Park in Ruidoso area.. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
This RV park had an exercise room in a separate building which was nice to be able to stretch out or exercise in an enclosed area. Nice park, good spacing, great location if you do not want to be in the middle of it all in midtown Ruidoso. Close to the famous racetrack and casino. Inconvenience would be no change machine for laundry and no doggie bags (and I'm not referring to the ones for leftover food). Dog walk is just a path along the front side of the RV park above the main hiway 70. Would come here again because you can always just walk your dog around the very sizeable RV park. Just bring your own bag (byob)! We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
This is a large, well maintained RV park about 4 miles east of Ruidoso. The pull through sites were level, but somewhat narrow in the 30 amp section. Although there are trees throughout the park, our site had none. The TV was a little fuzzy, but the Wi-Fi was good. This park is less crowded than others in Ruidoso, which is a very good thing in the summer, when Ruidoso is packed with visitors. If you're into horse racing and casinos, Ruidoso Downs and the Billy the Kid Casino are only a couple of miles up the road. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Excellent location and very friendly staff. TV Cable and Wi-Fi work great. Park is well maintained and park staff is very attentive to any needs. Will definitely stay again. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
We have stayed here 3 times and will continue to go back. Paved roads with level gravel sites. Wi-Fi and cable are good. All the hook ups are up to code. Satellite TV and Verizon work well. On-site repairs and a well stocked parts store. The staff is great and escort you to the site. We camped here in a Motorhome.
We stayed during an event week-end and were not surprised at the rate. Got to make $$$ when you can. Wi-Fi worked well and on a scale of 1 to 10 was an 8. Lots of tress and level spots and places to walk and we enjoyed our stay. We had FROG problems and decide to leave one day early and while against policy and we were informed of it - they decided to give us a refund. This is +++ in our eyes and we would consider it again. We camped here in a Motorhome.
The sites are gravel and nearly level, with a table. The location is fine. The worst drawback is the attitude of the owner/manager, who designs all signs and instructions in a negative "no" manner. One of the staff actually adjusted my water connection unnecessarily because of their unhook rule after dark. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Excellent wireless connections, very good cable reception, paved roads throughout park, very quiet, very friendly/helpful staff staff. Staff goes above and beyond helping you park. Out of mainstream Ruidoso, but still convenient access to points of interest. We stayed here three nights. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
We selected this park because of its proximity to the services and activities we were most using. It is close to the track, Wal-Mart and the road to Alamogordo. The owners are very friendly and the park has everything they say they have. The Wi-Fi is excellent. One nice thing they have done is to spread out campers so that we virtually have 2 spaces, one for the car. This would be cramped if that were not the case. They escort you to the site and our site was well leveled. They even have maintenance available on site if needed. I'm sure this was a prettier location prior to the fire that took out the trees on the north side of the highway. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Great people, very friendly. Will definitely stay here again. Park is easy to get to and has large sites and great views and quite a few trees. Paved roads makes it easy for walking although it is on a slight hill. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
Second visit to Ruidoso and this RV park. Both times to the park were as expected. Nice, fairly level sites. Didn't use any of the amenities. Will stay here again. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
Beautiful views from this campground. Big, clean facility. Super clean, huge restrooms. There were places closer in town, but the views here made it worth the drive, and it was easy to maneuver around in the park with our 42' bus with crew-cab truck in tow. Heater in the restrooms worked GREAT! We camped here in a Motorhome.
This is our third time staying at this park. It has paved roads and gravel sites. There are some trees but not so many that you cannot get a satellite signal. Our site was a little off level so the gentleman who escorted us to our site helped us level it by supplying some blocks. There is a picnic table at each site. WiFi is free and signal is very good. We did not use the cable TV since we have satellite. All in all, a very nice park and convenient to Ruidoso casinos, restaurants and events. October is off season so it is very quiet, but pleasantly cool with fall foliage nearby. We would stay here again. We camped here in a Motorhome.
We stayed in this beautiful park for 6 nights and have no complaints. It was close to Ruidoso Downs and Ruidoso. Our site was level and was wide enough for our 4 slides with plenty of room to put out the awning. The park was quiet and had paved roads. The owners and staff were very helpful and the store has a good supply of RV parts and accessories. They also offer RV repairs on site. We would definitely stay in this park again when traveling in New Mexico. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
Wonderful park. I'd give them a ten-and-a-half if they had a hot tub. Friendly and extremely helpful staff. Beautiful views. Highway noise manageable, at least in the back of the park. Convenient to Ruidoso, Wal-Mart, racetrack, casinos. This was our first time there but it won't be our last! We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
Park is clean and well maintained. The sites are extremely crowded and not very level, no grass, mostly gravel areas. It is convenient to town, and to the casinos and race track. I would stay here again as it is very difficult to find any campgrounds in this area in the summertime. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
This is our second time camping at this wonderful campground! The owner is old school, he cares about his customers. Helps you get into spaces, even offered to loan us a connection to "stretch" our sewer hose. (We chose to pull to front of the site, to park in the back of the rig.) WiFi was excellent. Quiet, with lots of good paved roads to walk on. Cable TV at site, but we chose to set up Dish satellite and got a good signal. Site was level front to back and side to side. Lots of Texans here and a very friendly group. Office has lots of RV supplies and you get free Ruidoso paper twice a week. Will stay here whenever we come to Ruidoso. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
We stayed here over the 4th of July. Park was full, but very quiet. Very dog friendly park with areas to walk your pets. Easy entrance and exit with paved roads throughout. Our space was level with room for your vehicle. They led us into our site and will work with you if you have issues. We have stayed here before and will return. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Very nice park and the people in reception were very nice, too. The park is on the southside of Route 70. Nice level site and all the roads are paved. They take you to your site and, if driving a smaller RV, make sure you are level. If you are not, they will level your rig. As stated before, try to remember to ask for the bathroom codes. We had to go down and ask. They have a good supply of RV stuff in the office. The town of Ruidoso is very nice. Very touristy, with lots of shops. I would stay at this RV park again. We camped here in a Motorhome.
This is a very nice park. It sits on a hillside above US 70, but sites are level. We were led to our site and assisted with set up. The gentleman who did this gave us some good pointers on local sights and places to eat in the area. One complaint I do have is that the restrooms have a combination lock and I was not given the code in the space provided on the check in brochure. When this happens, the office is not open until 9 a.m. and you need to use the facilities earlier in the morning, this causes a problem. We would stay again, but keep in mind there are a wide range of choices (and a wide range of quality of parks) in the area. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
We've been through New Mexico a few times, especially this area since we start from Texas any time we are heading west. This park has all you could ask for as far as supplies in the store, cable TV, Wi-Fi was fast, facilities clean, management friendly. Close to stores, restaurants and shopping. We stayed in March to go skiing at Ski Apache. Wonderful snow this year by the way. While going through the park it looks as if upgrades/repairs are being made from site to site as needed. Very easy access to park and sites. We drove through Ruidoso once settling to check out some of the other parks listed here, in my opinion this is about the best place to stay, at least this time of the year. I'm not going to mention names but a lot of the places the around Ruidoso Downs area that are listed as RV parks have quite a few permanent mobile homes and every thing that goes with them. We will be back!!! We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
The owners were very friendly and helpful. They even gave my husband a piece of sewer hose free to that he could repair ours. The store was stocked with RV supplies and basic needs. It was a very clean, well kept campground. The sites were spacious and it was very pretty with mature pine trees. You were escorted to your sites and the hook-ups were fine as well as the cable and the Wi-Fi. No complaints. There were not many sites occupied because it was mid-October. We think it is the best RV park in the area and we will be back and recommend it to others. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
Nice park. Everything worked fine. Staff is friendly and helpful. Sites are a bit narrow, but long enough for large motorhome and toad. Wi-Fi was good. Cable had 26 channels. Would have liked more cable channels, but reception was good. Would stay here again. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Do not know how this park gets such high ratings? Been fulltiming for 7 years and found this park over-priced and over-rated. The sites are so narrow, our slideouts were almost touching our neighbor's. Forget putting out your awnings. Was very disappointed in this park for the money. We camped here in a Motorhome.

A nice park, tables at every site. Site was long enough that I didn't have to unhook. The west side is newer and the sites are much wider than the older section. One drawback is the utility placement. They are closer to the front of the sites than the rear. I needed my water hose and electric cord extensions to reach the box. Staff is super nice. Would stay here again. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
This is a very nice park. It's run by a great couple who take pride in their park. Added bonus is being able to have work done on your rig if necessary, right in the park. Ask them about Lincoln! We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
My family was going to stay here for a month, and we asked to use the restrooms. They charge to use the restrooms, but said if we don't use the showers, we could use the restrooms. We were only there for 2 days, and only used the restroom twice. First time, and the second time he was standing outside the stall as soon as I opened the door. I never heard him and who knows how long we was there listening. He made it where I couldn't even was my hands. He put restrictions on when we could use the restroom. I have never felt so violated and stalked in my life. The restrooms are by themselves away from the office so they were either watching us or monitoring us on camera to know exactly when we used the restrooms. We then left and they tried to charge us for three days instead of two. They tricked us, lied to us, and then are still trying to get more money out of us. They seem nice, but once you pay, be very careful. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
Return visit for us. Owners provide great service. Only a handfull in the park this time of year. Everything was very good. Wish the roads were a little bigger and the sites a little deeper, but with open spaces between, everything was good. This could get tight in the summer time. Weather required we disconnect water at night, but that was a minor issue. We've been here before, we will come back. Close to everything we want to see. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
Clean park, good laundry facilities, roomy sites, great view of the mountains, friendly people working in the office and on the grounds. We stayed there in the "off season" and it was quite empty, but it would be fun to stay there in the summer, I am sure. We camped here in a Motorhome.
This seems to be the best park in the area. Staff very pleasant and the park is clean. Everything worked and we had a great stay for a week. We camped here in a Motorhome.
The owner-operators were helpful, and the park is clean, but they were a litle reluctant to make the rec hall ready to use. It is a nice rec hall, but they seemed a little indifferent to our inquiry about useing it. Also, the park location could be a little more conveniently located, because it is about 5 miles out of town. Other than that, it is a pretty good place to stay and I would stay there again. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
A nice, above average park with shade and fairly level sites. The sites are slightly terraced, gravel, roomy. Water pressure is very high, power good, and the free Wi-Fi worked very well. Some road noise of trucks on the upgrade into town, and large, bright lights can be a problem at night if you're under one. There are a large number of parks in the area, this is one of the better ones. We'd stay here again. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Best place to stay in Ruidoso without a doubt. Paved interior roads, clean, dust and noise free. Staff is top notch. Take you to your site and make sure you are ready to set up, give you the local newspaper, and really do make you feel welcome. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Large well kept park. Utilities are up to date. The Wi-Fi signal is strong. The owners/managers are very friendly and helpful. We will stop here again. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
This is a great park to stay in while visiting Ruidoso. We stayed in a newly constructed pull through that was level and roomy for our 4 slide out 5th wheel. Construction was under way on several new large pull throughs on the next street. Courteous and helpful manager. Staff friendly. We have stayed at more scenic parks but this park was very functional. We will stay here again. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
Strong Wi-Fi and very friendly and helpful management. Would stay here again. Clean park, long sites, paved roads. Close to racetrack yet far enough away to be away from the crowds. We camped here in a Motorhome.
This is a fairly large park with many seasonals. The short stay campers are at least pretty much grouped together and the park has a friendly feel. The staff is helpful in parking you which is necessary as the roads are tight, as are the sites, for big rigs (doable but if your toad is attached you better take the line into all turns or your going to have a problem). Sites are dirt but most look fairly level. It is OK as a base to visit Ruidoso, but not a place to really enjoy the outdoors. The store has RV parts only. No food or even newspapers. We travel in a forty foot motorhome. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Who ever rated this park as a five star, obviously did not stay at the same Circle B as I. First, this is an old park. The parking spaces are very, very narrow, just barely enough room to extend the slides. The campground hookups are located at the front of the parking space, while the hookups on the motorhome are located at the back of the RV, thus making it necessary for a trip to town to buy more sewer hose and water hose. There is not 50 amp hookups for the side by side sites: one 30 and one 50. The adjacent camper was hooked up to the 50, sooo that left us with the 30. Amp counting has begun. I went back to the office and requested a 50 amp site, none were available. He asked if we had requested a 50 when we made reservations, more or less told us tough. Did not offer to refund our money, but offered to sell us supplies. I will not camp here again, it's too close to your neighbor, and small. My Advise: pass this one up and look for a more modern park. We camped here in a Motorhome.
This is a relatively large park (202 sites) located about 5 miles east of Ruidoso. It is actually in the town of Ruidoso Downs. The place is clean, the roads are paved and the management is helpful and friendly. About 1/2 the sites are pull throughs. They have free cable TV (about 10 channels) and Wi-Fi. The office/store has a fairly good selection of RV parts and they provide an RV repair service. The park only has 3 bathroom/showers and these are all in one location... not enough for a park this size. No soap in the bathrooms and my wife said that two of the three locks on in the women's bathroom were broken. One location for trash too. Be sure to ask for the combination to the bathrooms. Overall, a nice place to stay. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
There are about 25 RV parks in Ruidoso and this one, without question, is the best. It has paved streets, wide, long sites, is in immaculate condition, is very big rig friendly, offers the best FREE wi-fi I have ever used, and has extremely friendly management. We visited all of the other parks while we were in Ruidoso and no other park even comes near. You will like it here. We camped here in a Motorhome.
One of the most friendly staff's we have encountered. A quiet area. Free Wi-Fi that works. Roads are paved, no dust. Wide sites. Staff checked with us after we got set up to make sure everything was OK. Would stay here again. We camped here in a Motorhome.
I cannot complain about the facilities, they were impeccably clean!! Only one washer and drier though, and had to use their soap, which was measured out in a shot glass. I was questioned as to my religion, which I thought was TOTALLY inappropriate!!!! It was a senior park which did not allow our friends to visit, which we understood, no problem there. But the person who registered us there almost tried to convince us to not stay there, which I was surprised by and I told that person so. I was so nervous that I would break a rule that I carried the rules sheet around with me. Loved the peace and quiet, but was told that guests were "heavily screened" to keep out the riff-raff, again understandable, but by whose definition of "riff-raff"? Does religion make a difference? We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
The owner of the park was very friendly and attentive to make sure all of our needs were met. She took us on a tour and explained everything to us. We loved this park,. It has only 15 sites and is near a creek. Very quiet and clean in a country setting with some horses/mules next door. It doesn't have a lot of lights at night, so I was able to see the sky and all the stars perfectly. The laundry room only has one washer/dryer, but they were like new and the owner even had laundry soap on the counter in case we didn't have any soap. The library was huge with tons of dvd's and books. These owners seem to think of everything one would want in an RV park. We would highly recommend it and definitely come back. We would also recommend visiting the Cornerstone Bakery/Cafe. The food and treats were delicious. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
50+ extremely well maintained park in a peaceful surrounding located off Hwy 70 between Glencoe and San Patricio. It's about 15 miles to Ruidoso Downs & Walmart. The owners take real pride in their park and are tops when it comes to hospitality. There are 15 very large pull-through sites (30' & 40'), two with park models. It's great for big rigs as access roads and sites are level and graveled, which makes parking easy. There is a large grassed area great for walking dogs. A creek at the back of the property has benches and is a great place to sit and relax or visit with other tenants. We really like this park and will definitely stay here again. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
This an excellent, attractive, bird friendly, small RV Park adjacent to Highway 70 and 14 miles east of Ruidoso Downs. The friendly owners live on site and do an commendable job of maintaining the RV Park. They greet the occupants each day and tend to the needs of the RV park. There are 15 sites and two are occupied by park models. The remaining pull through sites are level, spacious and long enough for most big rigs. Most sites have a growing shade tree and each has a picnic table. The wide access lanes are gravel based like the sites and there are no obstructions. The utilities are up to date, in the right location, and operate without problems. The Wi-Fi is fast and operates free of problems. A large open space expanse is available for use by the occupants and a creek borders the back of the property. We really liked this RV park. We extended our stay from two days to a full week. Our site served as an excellent base camp while exploring the area. The rate reflected is an off-season weekly rate. We will likely return. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Very nice owners, escorted us to our site upon checking in. This is a small, economical, 50+ park and very peaceful. Adjacent to Highway 70, however, road noise was minimal as the park sits below the highway. Pastoral setting, creek (Ruidoso River) is a short walk from your site. Sites still a little close together for my taste: that's my only negative. All sites are pull through. Little shade. Very nice clubhouse with extensive book library (leave one, take one) and one of the best DVD libraries I've ever seen at an RV park. 15 minute drive to Wal-Mart and the Horsetrack in Ruidoso Downs, an easy 20 minute drive to downtown Ruidoso. Going the other way, Lincoln is about 15-20 minutes, too. Wi-Fi worked well. No Verizon (cell or internet). We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
Small, clean campground. Roads very tight, but doable. Friendly neighbors helped me back in. My three slide fiver was too wide to put out awning on my site. Shade was nice. I'd come back. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
We live in El Paso and have stayed at Elk's Run the last two Spring Break. This park is well kept and has large pull through sites. The road to RV site is paved and has some tight turns that make it difficult for long trailers. Restrooms are clean and have washer/dryer available. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
A bit tight backing in, but not a big problem and there isn't any Wi-Fi. However, this is a pleasant place, high on the hill, full hookups and very friendly people. Close enough to Ruidoso to run in and see everything, very close to a western dinner show and a good staff. Would recommend this park to all. Not many spaces, so you would need to call for reservations. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
This is a small park with good visibility along the highway and good access to the area. It is well kept and the sites are nice. Management is friendly and helpful. We would go back here. We camped here in a Motorhome.
This is a very pretty small no-frills campground conveniently located off the highway yet away from the hub-bub of Ruidoso. There were many pretty pine trees and our site backed up to a field where we found a large herd of deer grazing. The park was very well kept and not too busy this time of year. The sites are spacious and include a picnic table. If you have a large rig, the access roads to the campsites are narrow and challenging but manueverable esp. with the turns. The staff were friendly and informative. We would definitely stay here again and highly recommend this RV park. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
What a beautiful RV park in the mountains. No bathroom or shower house. Very clean and nicely landscaped. Huge spaces pull-thru and back in, nice and level and wide. I think the smallest space is around 40'. Full hook ups to include cable TV at every site. Elk Run is a small (20 spaces) very quite and will taken care of park, wounder full retreat in the mountains of Ruidoso/Alto New Mexico park. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
We really enjoyed our visit. Employees were very helpful and friendly. We especially liked the fact that the park was located in the pines. The uneven ground was not a problem as the campground is situated so that the sites are relatively easy to manage. We will definitely stay here again. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
Found the park quite nice. The access into the park is a little narrow and it is difficult to navigate some of the sharp turns and steep inclines. Road surfaces are gravel and made pulling a heavy fifth wheel a slippery process. At one point I stopped and placed the tow vehicle in park and set the emergency brake to look at a site. When I exited the vehicle it started sliding backwards. The sites themselves are quite nice. Large, shaded, and most are level. I did not notice very many true pull thru sites as most appeared to be terraced at the back making it impossible to pull thru. Backing into the sites can be a bit tricky due to the sharply curved roads. I would reccommend this camp ground to anyone wanting a quite peaceful hillside retreat. My only caution would be to consider this a great spot for towed RV's under 28-30 feet. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
We stayed 4 nights. Camp Hosts were very polite and helpful. Driving in and out was a little tricky but the host escorted us to our site. We had a very level site and did not have to level the MH. WiFi was free and worked well. Close to town and high enough from the highway that you did not get road noise. Would stay again. We camped here in a Motorhome.
This park has several unlevel sites & several that are hard to get into. Overall, we enjoyed our stay and compared to other Ruidoso campgrounds, we found Pine Ridge to be very enjoyable. Management is very friendly. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
The park has cabins and RV sites. It is very crowded. We were there in the off season so we didn't have any problems, but, it if was full, I don't know where you would park. It would also make it very difficult to move the rig in and out of your space without having other people move their vehicles. Spots by the front were very noisy with traffic. The good part is that they were very friendly. We also moved to the back of the park the second night. Those sites back up to the National Forest which is awesome. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
This RV park is in a beautiful location right next to a National Forest. I mean, you walk out the door of your RV, and in a few yards, you are in a National Forest. The spaces are too close together and most are not level. There are only 2 bathroom/showers, but they are nice and very clean. The staff is great. The WiFi was better than what I would expect and there was a huge selection of cable TV channels. Yes, it is a bit run down, but I would stay here again just for the access to the beautiful forest, the very friendly staff and lots of great folks who come every year. We camped here in a Motorhome.
This is a wonderful place to stay and get away from the desert heat. We stay here regularly. There are great activities nearby and a beautiful park about 3 miles up the road. They keep everything clean and well kept. Family friendly and pet friendly atmosphere. We will be going back! The staff is always helpful and nice. We camped here in a Tent Trailer.
This was our first trip to Ruidoso, and had small children thinking that the trout pond would be something a little more special than it was. It is basically a big concrete pond with large fish you can feed. As for the sites, we were at the back of the park right up against the national forest. This part was great as we would just go straight out the door and head into the forest for hikes. The sites however, were really close together. Could not even extend our awning all the way. The views are great, though. We spent more time behind the trailer than out the door as we had more room there. The staff was great and extremely kind and friendly. Great place to ride mountain bikes (in the forest) and hike. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
My husband and I have been staying at this RV park for several years. We love the park because of it's location on Carrizo Canyon Road. The park itself backs up to the Lincoln National Forest. Great hiking & ATV trails. The surroundings are just beautiful you truly do feel like your way up in the mountains. Close to the downtown area and the Inn Of The Mountain Gods. The park itself is in great need of maintenance. We have watched this park over the past few years deteriorate. RV sites are very close together and they advertise pull throughs and I only see two sites that might be considered a pull through. I don't know if I would call this park Big Rig friendly due to the fact I have seen some motorhomes have difficulty getting their slides out. Be prepared, sites will require some leveling. Never seen inside the cabins, but they look nice from the outside. The Wi-Fi is a joke: must be right in front of the office for it to work. The trout pond used to be a neat place well maintained and stocked with fish. It is still stocked with trout, but the pond itself is falling apart. The cement sides are cracking & buckling. Sad Site! During the summer months the park is always full I think that is due to the great location. We camp here is a 38 foot rig and I give the location a 10 but the park itself I can only give a 4. I hope the owners realize what a true treasure they have and take action and make the necessary repairs. The owner's and staff are very friendly. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
This park is clean and in a nice setting, but it is very small and too many spaces crammed into it. I was told in the check in we had a pull through spot, but it was back in and with 36 footer, we barely made it after have neighbors move their vehicles. If the spot across from ours had been occupied we would not have got in. We were about 18" from each of our neighbors. Too close for our taste. Staff was friendly and helpful. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
Escapees Members: No longer a 15% discount park (listed as a 15% discount park in the 2010 Escapees Travel Guide). Manager claimed no one from Escapees had contacted them in 6 years (doesn't sound like Escapees!) and that they do not honor the 15% discount. She pleaded ignorance when I brought out the book and showed her the listing. So they basically were getting a free listing attracting Escapees to their park, then when they get here they renege on the discount (bad business). They receive the Escapees magazine for free and display a big Escapees sticker in their window, also...the manager did give us a 10% discount. With tax it came to $34 a night, which is pricey for what you get here. I called Escapees, related my experience, and they have now been dropped. As far as the park goes, the only redeeming features as far as I can tell are its proximity to town (less than 5 minutes), and the immediate access to Lincoln National Forest trails out the back of the park. Did not use the bathrooms or laundry. We were parked in a site off of Mud Canyon Rd., which is a gravel road, so quite dusty. They really pack you in like sardines here, too. The site was spartan with no picnic table, just gravel. It was quite noisy on the weekend we were here with kids running around hootin' and hollerin' till 1 in the morning. The "lake" is a misnomer - small fish pond with a few rainbow trout and koi. misnomer. We are moving to another park. We won't return. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
Campground is somewhat difficult to locate, even with good maps due to poor street signage in Ruidoso. The entrance to the Office is split away from the main campground, bisected by a stream. One has to circle back to enter main camping premises. There is an old, deep concrete tank (formerly a trout hatchery?) that was over grown with mat-algae over the summer and by our visit in November was ripe. Owners are draining and skimming it, but the appearance is an eyesore and generally a nuisance. We parked nearby the stream which was nice but not safe for young children. Camp borders on forest, good for hiking with kids. Found no amenities for young kids in this camp. Ruidoso is a very interesting town. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
We recently stayed at the Rainbow Lake RV campground and really enjoyed it. The staff was friendly and attentive. All services were top notch with a well regarded Cafe on the premises that the locals frequent. The office/lodge/gift shop was very convenient as well with a big screen TV (old but in working condition), shuffle board and pool table for relaxation. One of the best features of Rainbow Lake is that it backs up to a National Forest that was great for walking our 2 dogs. We noticed signs that said "ATV's" were OK but other vehicles were not. One last item of note is that it is very close to the Inn of The Mountain Gods Resort and Casino which was obviously good for the gambling, but also had some great restaurants we tried out. We will definitely be back! We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
Nice campground, fairly new. Very polite staff. Park used to be a fishery. Restaurant is available from Thursday to Sunday. Park features a gift shop, trout feeding pond & hiking & biking trails. Has a laundry room. Carrizo Creek runs thru park. Rallies are welcomed. We liked this park & look forward to staying there again. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
The website view of this park is very misleading. This park is very small and does not accommodate big rigs well at all. We sat outside our front door and could clearly see our neighbor inside their rigs and speak to them through the window. There is NO place to walk your dog except across a very busy street in a children's ball field. We had some issues with our rig, called repair and notified the manager we may be delayed in departing later than expected, she was not happy. We ultimately made the decision to leave early (without repairs) to accommodate the park. We were advised absolutely no refunds! We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
My In-laws found this place and it's tucked in right next to a creek. We had the spot directly across from my In-laws and it was a nice big one. We could walk the dogs either next to the creek or take them across the street to go up the creek. The host and the owners were always nice, friendly, and alot of fun to speak with. Pretty down home place to enjoy the horse racing, casinos or just hanging out. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
We camped here during the motorcycle rally. The park is well managed by a gentleman who is very helpful in all ways. The owner is a great host and makes sure you enjoy your time in Ruidoso. The park is clean and well cared for, some spaces right on the river. We stayed here for a week and will be there next year too! Ruidoso makes bikers very welcome. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Park is small, very clean and well maintained. When we arrived a very friendly guy greeted us and helped us get backed into our site. There is a busy road next to the park, and a baseball / football stadium nearby: so you can hear the loudspeakers occasionally. Over Labor Day weekend, the park owners held a buffet and had karoke. Sites are very close together and there is a river that runs through the campground. We would consider staying here again. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
We were greeted with help immediately upon pulling in and friendly folks throughout our visit. Our River side spot was dreamy and our host was a source of entertaining and informative conversation. Has easy access and away from the city commotion. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
This is a nice park. RV's are pretty close together, especially the ones that back up to the river. There are some long term residents so there aren't many sites available by the river. I think we would try another park in the future. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
Extremely friendly staff and well kept site. Setup we had was along river with plenty of seating area. No real facilities to speak of (shower/bathroom) but that was not an issue with us. Would definitely look to stay with them again We camped here in a Motorhome.
A heavy snow a couple of days before our arrival had shut down the top part of the park reached by a steep hill. I walked my dogs in this part, and it was really pretty with sites having a deck and great views. However, due to the bad weather and snow on the ground, we had to stay in the lower part of the campsite which was not as attractive. We only stayed one night as the weather was 7 degrees F overnight so we headed south to warmer temperatures. We'd love to come back and see this campsite in warmer weather. I think it would be much more appealing in a site at the top of the hill. My husband said the men's restrooms and showers were not appealing and could have been cleaner. The women's restrooms were adequate. We camped here in a Motorhome.
We stayed here one weekday night in late October. We chose this park because the reviews here seemed to indicate it was one of the better parks amongst the many in the area. We had a FHU, pull-through site with 70+ channel cable TV in the lower level of the park. This level has three, 8/9 site rows of pull-through sites and maybe 20 back-ins. This seems to be where they put the more transient customers. Most of the sites are on the upper level. These sites vary as to size and entry mode, but all appear to be fairly large with FHU with cable. I doubt that many, if any are satellite friendly due to all the tress in the upper level. These are the sites that people rent for a week, a month, or the entire season. Some sites on the lower level are satellite friendly. There were maybe 20 sites occupied on the lower level and only a handful on the upper level. With so few customers in the park we had decent WIFI service. The pool and kitchen were closed for the season. I did not see any playground equipment. I thought the bathroom facilities and some of the electric boxes I checked could use updating. In fact, I was surprised that our electric plug stayed in the receptacle considering its' condition. I was a bit disappointed that the park was as far (over a mile) from the main part of town as it was. I do see why folks like to spend some of their summer here. We camped here in a Motorhome.
This park is probably one of the better RV parks I have seen near Ruidoso but it was very crowded when we stayed there. The staff is helpful and friendly. There are many nice sites in wooded areas that have decks but seemingly all of these are occupied by permanent residents. Pull-throughs are short, close-packed, and parking a tow vehicle at your site is a Tetris operation. I must assume there are better options in this beautiful area for short term RV stays, I just haven't found them yet. The gravel is well groomed. We camped here in a Motorhome.
This is the best RV park in the Ruidoso area. The staff is friendly, helpful, and willing to accommodate special space requests. The park is shady, pleasant, has a nice pool, and serves home-cooked breakfast & dinner in an outdoor patio area. We've stayed here several times and will definitely return. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
Friendly, hard-working owners. Lots of space between sites. Faces a scenic hill. Bathrooms very clean, good shower spray, but shower tiles/interior need updating. Close to Hwy 70, but quiet at night. We camped here in a Motorhome.
We stayed here while attending the Cowboy Symposium at Ruidoso Downs. We were escorted to our site, offered assistance parking, and were generally welcomed. We did not make use of any of the park amenities as we were away from the park from dawn to dusk. The park appeared to be family oriented, and we did see children enjoying themselves in the park. This was a good choice for us in Ruidoso at this time of year, and we will return to Twin Spruce if we attend the Symposium in the future. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
Rate reflects Good Sam discount. This is a very nice park set on a hillside with lots of shady level sites. The shady sites up on the "hill" have 30 amp service and many have decks with railings. If you need 50 amp service there are a number of sites that will meet your needs on the "lower" level of this park. This is a family operation, run by very friendly and helpful people. We had an issue with the transmission on our tow vehicle and their son pulled out trailer down to the entrance for us when we left. During the season they have many activities on site and we really enjoyed the breakfasts that were served. Many people stay in this park for months at a time and we found all of the quests to be very friendly. We will definitely return to this park and would highly recommend it. Best park we have found in the Ruidoso area! We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
This is a nice park with lots of pine trees, a pool and friendly managers. The best spots are up on the hill where there are decks and more shade. We stayed down at the bottom because we wanted 50 AMP service. I don't think there is any 50 AMP up the hill, but if you don't need more than 30 AMP, the nicest spots are at the top. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
We've stayed at this RV park the last 2 summers & will continue to do so! We love this campground! It is very clean, very nice & the owners are wonderful! I enjoy walking up & down the mountain roads within the park for exercise. We'll be back!! We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
Quaint older park right next tow Hwy 70. Lady owner/manager extremely friendly. Can accept bigger rigs with selected sites. Rates lower for month or week. Park dominated by friendly Texas RVers in summer. Great place to stay in the summer at 7000 ft altitude. Close to Race Track. Owner's son very helpful with our awning problem. Would recommend this park but call 2-3 months ahead to reserve space. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Decent park, with pretty trees. Pool was not open in the winter as it gets cold here! Right around 7,000 feet. Good location on US-70, (not too noisy), but while it's close to retailers, restaurants, casinos and the racetrack, you'll probably be driving. We prefer the lower campground: the upper one on the hillside, is a little grim. Bathrooms are ok, the laundry works well. The lady (owner) that greeted us was charming and helpful; the man that worked here (her husband?) was a grouch. We are thoughtful, quiet campers, and fairly knowledgeable about RV'ing after 3 years full-timing. Still, I couldn't do anything right, whether parking the rig or filling our water tank without the guy whining about it. I would not stay here again. We camped here in a Motorhome.
This is a nice small RV park. I would have rated it higher, but it is right next to US-70 and there is quite a bit of traffic noise. It is close to down town Ruidoso and all the recreation the area offers. Bring lots of electric, water, and sewer hook up stuff. The services are at the end of the sites, requiring lots of extentions. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
We stay in this park at lleast 10 times per year. Owners are great people. If you don't like your site they will try to change you to one you like. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
Beautiful mountain views. The staff was friendly and accommodating. All of the hookups worked well. The campground is easy to get to from the main road. Campsites were very good. It's a great place to escape the desert heat in the summer. There are plenty of activities in the area to please everyone. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
Although we have not seen every RV campground in Ruidoso this one is about as good as they get from our experience. Smaller park with good management. everyone friendly and helpful. WiFi was not working while there. No problem with any of the hookups and everything worked well and as expected. This campground is very close to downtown and casino. We will stay here again. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
Site was not level. Sewer connection required sewage to flow uphill. 30-amp socket was broken, could not tighten water hose to faucet. Entire CG is on a slope, hard to disconnect and connect toad. We camped here in a Motorhome.
First time to stay here. Our choices were limited as many campgrounds are not operational in March. Smaller loop of pull throughs were operational. We had to disconnect water at night due to low temperatures. Reservation handled flawlessly. Owners very helpful. The upper loop, not open yet, would be our choice in warmer camping. Campground is central to Ruidoso and easy in and out. As good as anything in the area, owners help and location make it preferred over others. We will stay here again. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
Smallish park with fairly level gravel sites. WIFI not working while we were there. Park is close to racetrack, casino, and other attractions. Owners helpful with suggestions for restaurants, etc. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
Even though this park is out of town a ways it is worth the drive. Beautiful location, ditto scenery. Nice large level spots. The best thing here is the quiet and the beauty of the surrounding mountains. Easy in, easy out. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
We found this park after driving around Ruidoso. The owners we very helpful and friendly. The grounds were well kept and clean. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
The owners were very friendly and helpful. The park is very nice and clean. Lot's of activities for the whole family. I will return to this park next trip to Ruidoso. We camped here in a Motorhome.

Very peaceful, well-kept park with tall pines & shade trees. 47 lower-level packed gravel sites; 64 upper-level sites, some with decks, in a great mountain-side setting. Family & pet friendly. Clean showers & restrooms, pool, laundry; propane & some supplies. Very friendly, helpful owners & staff. 1 mile from town, on HWY 70 toward Tularosa/Alamogordo. Stayed 5 days & will definitely stay again. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
Twin Spruce is a nice RV park with extremely helpful staff. It is clean and it is close to many activities in Ruidoso. The sites could have been a little more roomy, but other than that it was very good. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
We liked the sites in the middle of the campground more than on the perimeter as they were spaced wider apart, were away from the highway, and had nice pine trees. Some of the amenities were not available due to the time of the year that we visited. The owner of the campground was very friendly, laid back, and willing to help yet she was not pushy or a pest. We liked the location. It was close enough to town yet far enough away from the hubbub and traffic. We would definitely recommend this campground over many others that we saw in the Ruidoso area. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
Beautiful park with 100' pines. Several sites on the Rio Ruidoso. Sites are spacious and relatively private. The park is on the main drag through town but it's a small drag in a small town. Also, many of the sites are on lower terraces, well below the street and closer to the steam. Close to restaurants, shopping, playland and casino. We will definitely return. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

Excellent Location near town and good variety of Sites. Easy open air pull-throughs to shaded hilltop
sites with wood decks at many of the sites. Very friendly managers who went so far as to trim trees to accommodate my 34ft fifth wheel and assist me in
setting up my rig. Highly recommended. We camped here in a camper.
