Must be military to camp here. Best approach is via US 70 from Alamogordo or Las Cruces. Watch the weather; pass from the west sometimes closes due to snow; monitor US Park Service site, White Sands National Monument (WSNM), for road closures due to missile test firings. Convenient to WSNM (also consider Holloman AFB), Alamogordo. On-base missile museum is interesting. We didn't do much more because of wild, windy, cold weather. No Wi-Fi. Good connection with Verizon cellular. Restrooms / showers were unheated. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
Drive, wide, drive through sites and each of the eight sites have a covered cabana over the cement picnic table and grill. Sites are level, far removed from the base and magnificent views of the Organ Mountain Range in our front window. Used our own Wi-Fi broadband and satellite and both came in very well. There are also four overflow sites with electric only adjacent to the park. For the price, this park can't be beat - rather isolated and long drives to get to "civilization" - but that's just what we wanted. Definitely would stay here again. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Small park with great views of the Organ needles and mountains AND FULL HOOK-UPs. Located on the missile range just south of highway 70, it is about a 20 minute drive to Las Cruces and 30 minutes to White Sands National Park. Sites are level from side to side but slope up from back to front: not much of an issue. Sites are co-located with a small park with plenty of playground equipment. Be careful of the strong winds (+70 mph) in December. Best value I've seen for the view, full hook-ups. We will camp here again. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
