Formerly a KOA. Needs some work, but it was ok to use as a base for visiting the local area. Stayed five nights. Site was surrounded by tall pines, but was open enough to see the stars at night. It was all grass, fairly level, w/picnic table and fire ring. Campground shower area was private with each of the shower areas having its own entry door. Didn't see or hear anything about the thefts as mentioned in the previous post. We were near the front of the campground and therefore close to the office so that may have provided some protection. Interior roads were rough in some areas, but not bad enough to do any damage. We camped here in a Motorhome.
I was warned that Ausable Chasm Campground was in poor condition but I tried anyway. Booked for a week but only stayed overnight and ONLY because we arrived late into New York State. Pool is tiny and 3' deep for wading only. Washrooms were pathetic (single toilet and basin, single shower, full of mud). Biggest problem, however, was theft within the park. Bikes, chairs and BBQs have been disappearing from campsites. Not the campground's fault but clearly made for an anxious overnight stay. I would not recommend this park for any extended stays. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
