We enjoyed our stay there, very good location for doing, Gold coast, Manhattan, Montauk Light, Hamptons, and to go for a nice walk on the beach. I can not imagine being hear during the summer. It has to be chaotic; there are 500 Beach cabanas right next door and lots of beach clubs in the immediate area. We camped here in a Motorhome.
The resident camper was amazing and I would give her a 10! It was a really nice campground with large sites, also a 10. However, it was a terribly, long walk to the beach mostly on sand which was a huge challenge with small children, so that's why I only gave it a 6. They send good directions ahead of time. Be sure to follow them because there is a low bridge very close to the campground. Of course, the hassle of getting there from anywhere other than Long Island, makes it a challenge. The gate locks at 9pm, so if you arrive later, you will need to park in the adjacent lot and walk to your site. Because it is a county park, additional cars/visitors are very expensive ($30/day for non-county residents). There is 24-hour security and the 5 mile/hour speed limit is strictly enforced as are quiet hours. Overall, an excellent campground. We would stay here again. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
