Bowman Lake State Park is touted as a 'campers paradise' in their brochure. For us, this was definitely the case. The campsites were large, shaded and very private and best of all, less than 1/3 of the sites were booked, leaving lots of 'elbowroom' from other campers. The lake is small, and is designated for non-motorized boats only, meaning canoes, rowboats (no motor of any kind) kayaks etc. This kept the campground quiet enough to hear the woodpeckers echoing in the canopy above and the sounds of crackling fires popping in the distance. While there are no electric or water hookups on sites, the effort you'll spend in advance planning for water and battery power will be well worth your while in what you'll discover in privacy, peace quiet and nature appreciation at it's best. The campground offers playgrounds and lifeguarded beaches for little ones, a concession stand that is very affordably priced and whose menu is plenty diverse, lots of hiking and biking trails and a boat house with rowboats and kayaks to rent. Rates midweek are $15.75 for first night and $13.00 each night thereafter and weekend/holiday rates are $18.75 for first night and $16.00 each night there after. There is NO minimum stay requirements. We enjoyed our stay there tremendously and will return many more times! We camped here in a Tent Trailer.
