We stayed here for 3 days. We live on Long Island. There are a few sections of this park. There is a public area for picnics and heading to the beach, those areas are very very busy. There is another area for tents only, that area again was pretty busy but looked nice. Then there is your area for the RVs, that area is really beautiful. Our site was on the south loop and was shady, very quiet and bordered the forest area. We loved it. It was a full hook up site with lots of areas for the kids to ride their bicycles. It was very peaceful and it seems everyone in this loop were pretty quiet. The kids really enjoyed themselves and since are pretty close in West Islip, that was another plus. There is a camp store on site. Firewood was $7.00 and you have to rent a fire ring for another $7.50 for 1 night. If you do not take it back before 11am, you will lose your deposit. You have to drive to the beach from where we were, you can ride your bike but you cannot take your bikes down to the beach. There is very steep hill down to the beach, if you are with elderly etc walk it down first to make sure. The beach is very very rocky, you will have to wear water shoes. In the camping area we did not find any playgrounds. There is a public playground but it was packed with kids when we went. Again, the public areas are very busy, not the best if you have smaller children. I rated the park an 7, if there were other amenities such as a pool etc I would have rated higher. There was no cable either. The girls at the front desk are awesome, very nice and friendly. One thing I liked was the park police patrolled often and stayed at the front gate at night. Overall we liked the park a lot and would definitely stay there again. We were lucky to get reservations this time! We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

For a state park, Wildwood is great. Its biggest drawback is that they do not allow animals. If you plan to camp there make sure you bring a fire ring of sorts. They do not supply them. The walk down to the sound is very nice and the sunsets can't be beat. We stayed in the trailer are which was very quiet. The tent area was very large, and seemed to be on the wild side of the campground. We camped here in a Tent Trailer.

Nice campground, beach is OK very steep walk down to the beach. All sites in the T area are pull through. Brand new comfort station built this year(2007). Would go again kids had lots of fun. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
