Access is by winding mountain roads and campground itself is very hilly. Some sites are right on the river which is delightful and perfect for a cool dip on a hot day. There is a playground for children, and the campground is close to Chimney Rock State Park and Lake Lure. The owners are so very helpful. We needed a nut for one of our bikes, and the owner drove to town to get one for us. The washers and dryers were great since we had laundry to do. The sites are shady and well-maintained. There are many permanent renters so plan in advance. The park filled while we were there, and many were turned away. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Owners were extremely nice but I agree with the 5 reviews below. Not really big rig friendly: you can get in, but it's very, very tight. Only 2 sites with 50 amp. Oddly the site for motorhome only was 30 amp. It worked well all week though. Everything is old and could use some cleaning. More permanent sites than daily. It's a great area: very peaceful. Would stay here again but those 9-star ratings here are misleading. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Beautiful, tranquil setting along a narrow section of the Broad River. We camped in a 26' Toyhauler and backed up to awesome views of the river with huge boulders and the sounds of running water for 4 glorious days and 3 nights. The entrance and roads can be tough to negotiate in a larger RV and there are only a couple of sites which will accommodate them. Mostly permanent sites on one side of the campground and just a handful of sites for tag a longs. Quite a few tent sites and one cabin with a bathroom. Very, very nice owners and clean bathrooms and showers. A great place to go to chill out and just enjoy the surroundings. Definitely going back! We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
Very nice campground. River front sites are great if you like to sit on giant rocks in the middle of a cold mountain stream. Some roads in the campground are very steep. Main entrance/road not too steep though. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Beautiful, roaring, clean river next to campsite. Huge boulders all around. Great views. A little tight entering campground but sites have plenty of room. Highly recommended. Book in advance they are always full. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
Sits on the Rocky Broad River. Lots of permanent sites. Riverfront sites are very nice - children had a great time playing in the river. Very close to Chimney Rock Park, Village, and Lake Lure Beach. Nice laid-back town. The campground is kind of old and cluttered, but we enjoyed our stay. Like stepping back in time. We camped here in a camper.
