This campground is perfectly adequate and easily accessible if you're having work done at Tom Johnson, but I found the owner rude. When he found out we'd stayed at a competitor's campground nearby, he started bad-mouthing them terribly. The restrooms were OK, but not great. There was poison oak all around our campsite. We spent one night and won't be back; we'll drive a few extra miles up the mountain. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Bathrooms were unclean. No paper towels. Bathrooms were dirty and like something out of the old west. No locks on toilet doors and very old toilets. Daughter refused to go back to bathrooms. The sites were crammed in together, right on top of each other. The stream was nice and the fire pits (rocks in a circle) were nice. We wished we had gone back to Mama Gerties up the road. The wireless internet kept dropping out and we were only 1/2 way up the line of campers. They shouldn't even advertise that they have wireless. No cable. I would not recommend it to anyone. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
What a great find. The sites are along Buck Creek and nicely shaded. There is no swimming pool, but there are two swimming holes in the river and frequently used. The sites are fairly level and about half of them are occupied with permanent weekenders. The grounds are well kept and the permanent sites have their own gardens. The bath houses are outdated but fairly clean. There is new tile in the two shower areas. There is little privacy in the bathrooms though - open access to showers with only plastic shower curtain - but most people relied on their bathrooms in rigs. A very quiet location - except for Buck Creek - yet convenient for travel to nearby areas - Asheville, Cherokee, Smoky Mtn NP about 2 hours south and Boone, Grandfather Mtn, Blowing Rock about 2 hours north. Great park to escape to. We camped here in a Motorhome.

WOW! is the best way to describe this campground for me. I have never given a campground a 10 but this place deserves it. We had reservations and when we arrived they had all of the paperwork ready and check in was a breeze. They explained everything very well and before parking you knew what was and what to expect. We did not see a bad site in the campground; some are just longer than others. The owners have worked hard to make this a nice campground and it shows. They live there full time in their motorhome, yes motorhome. I do not think I have ever seen a campground or bathhouses and clean as this place. It is located on Buck Creek and over half the sites are creekside, which makes sleeping very easy. No noise to speak of at night except the creek and it just soothes you away. Now if you are the part of society today that is looking for lots of amenities, you may not be happy here. You can fish in the creek,or explore it, you can walk around the campground or ride a bike,(it is nice and level) play horseshoes, or basketball. Our favorite activity that they offer is just sitting by the creek and watching it go by. They do not have a playground, game room, or mini golf which was fine. We also liked the fact that you had no cell phone service at all,and no television that you could see very well unless you have satellite. The last thing I will add is that the road getting to Mountain Stream is a little tight and has some curves but nothing bad so do not let that deter you from staying there. We will definitely make Mountain Stream a regular spot for us. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
We stayed here for Thanksgiving and really enjoyed the campground and the socializing with others guests. This place was so incredibly clean it was amazing! The bathroom and showers are cleaned a couple of times a day and they are heated. They had a potluck Thanksgiving dinner where the owners supplied the turkey and the guests brought all of the side dishes. It was a wonderful time of fellowship, food and fun. The only reason I didn't give it a 10 was because there were some seedy looking campgrounds leading up to their entrance with lots of permanent (dumpy looking) residents. I wish those people would take care of their grounds like these people do! We camped here in a Tent Trailer.
This campground is beautiful, peaceful, and pristine. Well worth the extra few miles beyond the RV repair place in Marion. The owners support the local community. They told us about the monthly Saturday Breakfast fund-raiser at Carson's Chapel. Amazing food! We followed the advice on their website and unhitched our towed vehicle in town. After scoping out the twisty route up to the campground, we had no problem with a 31' Class C. If we hadn't scouted it first, we would have been a lot more intimidated. We camped here in a Motorhome.
I did not stay at this park but stopped and talked to the owner, Becky Johnston. Becky and her husband Ron live on site in their motorhome. She cheerfully gave me permission to check out this beautiful park and it is everything that has been described by other reviewers. Free Wi-Fi throughout the park. All sites were level - in fact, the entire park was level which was surprising since the park is in the mountain foothills. Most of the sites are along scenic Buck Creek and command a premium price. The rest are along the road and, since I did not spend the night, I don't know how noisy that would be. The park was very neat and well maintained with pretty landscaping at each site and in the common areas. The spaces were farther apart than what one normally sees in a private campground. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
This park was very nice and taken care of. If you are in the area this would be a very good stay; was for us. The cover dish is a must do; the food was great. The sites are all graveled with grass between sites. Ron and Becky will go out of there way to please you. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
Owners on site at all times, very professional and helpful. Immaculate restrooms, showers and grounds. Trout caught from stream just 15' from site. Great Christian campground with Gospel sing-along and chili cookoff on Saturday nite. Church services on Sunday. Marion is great small town, restaurants, etc and Tom Johnson RV Servive Center. Blue Ridge Mtns and Parkway just minutes away. Recommend to all, will stay here again. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
This was our first stay at this campground. The previous reviews say it all. This beautiful campground is the cleanest, neatest, most relaxing that I have ever camped at. I am sitting by the creek right now as I use the wireless access to submit this review. The location of this campground is great for visiting the Linville falls and caverns area as well as Mount Mitchell. We participated in the Saturday night covered dish dinner which was great! We will definitely come back to this campground. We camped here in a Tent Trailer.
We picked this park for our first weekend out in our new motorhome that we just purchased from Tom Johnson's Camping in Marion, NC (Excellent dealer!). It was a great place to start out. Everything was neat and clean. The sites were level gravel. The roads were gravel. Even though it rained heavily the first night there were no problems with drainage. There was a potluck dinner in their pavilion Saturday night followed by very enjoyable live entertainment. The owners are great people who went out of their way to make "first timers" feel welcome. This is a great park for adults, but there were some kids there too. We enjoyed the "Mountain Stream Church" service held Sunday morning. We already have reservation to return and highly recommend this park. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Visited this park ten years ago; it was great then and is even better now. Great hosts, bathrooms superb. Quiet. A little off the path but well worth it. All back in sites. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
This is a great little mountain RV Park in the Smokie Mountains of North Carolin just a little north of Marion. They have no laundry but it is quiet and clean. The staff is friendly and very cordual host. The stream will tranquilize you if you have a site near it. Great sleeping with the windows open. The road is a little narrow and crooked but my 40 footer made it OK pulling a toad. We will certainly go back. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Very nice park. Cleanest one we've visited. Owners are especially friendly. They make you feel like old friends from the start. Saturday night community meal is a must do! Great location with lots of close by places to visit. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
Great little horseshoe shaped campground with a running stream on two sides. We have been there many times and always enjoyed our stays. Bath house is outdated and needs work. They have live music under big shelter on Sat nights with a pot luck covered dish dinner before the show. Fun place. Sunday morning worship is nice also. They have done some remodeling due to weather damage in 2004. A couple of sites are tight to get in but overall a great campground. Will continue to be one of our favorites. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
We just spent a fabulous 3 day weekend at Mountain Stream RV Park! The owners, Ron & Becky, have one of, if not the nicest park we have ever been to. Everything is neat and clean, the sites are great and that soothing sound of the stream is worth it's weight in gold! Thanks a bunch and we'll see you again in 2006!! We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
Lovely place with friendly owners (We don't consider it our business what religion anyone else is, so we don't care whether they're Christians! They seemed just fine to us). Beautiful location though park is small. Center area would be nicer if a part of it were fenced as an off-leash area for dogs, but dogs are made very welcome. The only trouble is--and the reason I won't go back--there is a small zoo of animals right next door guarded by a horribly lonely dog chained to a barrel all alone. I can't look at that night and day every time I walk my dog and enjoy the time I spend there. We camped here in a Motorhome.
This is the nicest little campground we have ever stayed in. We were here for 5 nights on a streamside site. The sites are gravel, level, & beautifully landscaped. The bathrooms are spotless. The owners, Becky & Ron, are wonderful - very welcoming & helpful. The location is perfect for exploring the Blue Ridge Parkway & all the attractions of the area. This campground gets our highest recommendation. We camped here in a Tent Trailer.
We found the park to be very clean and well taken care of. There was fresh gravel laid and the sites were very level. The sound of the stream/river at night is a great way to fall asleeep. The owners have a potluck supper on Saturday nights followed with live entertainement. The owners Ron and Becky were very friendly and helped insure you had a pleasant stay. We will be planning many more trips to Mountain Stream RV park. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
This is an amazing place to bring your family for a quiet vacation. You can camp by a steam on 21 of the sites and 10 it is just right over the hill. The bathrooms are spotless. The grounds are gorgeous. Green grass everywhere and nicely paved and level sites. I felt like I was a member of the family from the time I entered the campground. The owners are amazing people. They are very caring and fun. Live entertainment was fantastic on Saturday night. A fantastic experience with two small children. We will be back every year for sure. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

Stayed in a travel trailer on the stream. It was really nice. The common yard area is nice for the kids to play ball or throw a frisbee. There is a basketball court, shuffleboard was broken and horseshoes off limits to the kids. Showers were the cleanest I have ever seen. No phone reception but you can use a phone card at a phone that is available. It also has hookup for a laptop. Relaxing camping.. Will go back. Wish it had laundry facilities. This RV park is pretty as a picture. We stayed only one night and wished our schedule allowed for a longer stay. We were there on a Saturday night and there was entertainment provided free of charge to all. It was a delightful couple that played and sang for about 2 hours, some great tunes that were familiar to all. It was very pleasant and a lot of fun. The owners, David and Kristina Smith are wonderful. They have that very
special way about them that makes you feel welcome and at home the moment you meet them. From check-in to departure they were very gratious and appreciative hosts. Kristina is a marvelous vocalist as evidenced by her CD. Club discounts are extended (FMCA, GS, Escapees, etc). They are located in a rural setting with beautiful trees and a charming mountain stream running along one side of the park. We backed up to the stream during our stay and the sound of the running water gave us a most restful sleep. This is definately one of our all time TOP 10 SPECIAL PLACES. The only reason it isn't rated a 10 is that the pads were not concrete, but they were nice and level. We camped here in a camper.

This is a beautiful, clean, well kept site. The owners are wonderful, kind, Christians who geniunely care about your family and your visit. Many of the sites are streamside with some shade. We had one power surge in the 3 days that we stayed, which was quickly corrected. The only complaint that I have is not one that can be corrected - the biting midgets were horrid, a real bother. We went in August, and plan to make a next
trip in the fall or early spring when insects will be at a minimum. We loved the stream. Our children loved the group activities. We plan to return next year. We camped here in a camper.

What a beautiful place. We go there several times a year and have for several years. It just doesn't get any better than this. The place is spotless with manicured gardens, lots of grass and trees. The owners, David & Christina Smith, are great. You meet them once and you become friends forever. It is a real blessing to be camped there when Christina sings some of the songs from her latest CD. An occasional low voltage power problem is our only complaint. We camped here in a camper.

Excellent park only your cel phone will not work - down in valley. Small rippling stream running by almost half of the sites. If you have sat. TV it will only work at most of the sites not all. Try to get lower number sites and out of the trees. Owners/Mgrs. are just great!!! Will definately go back when in the area. We camped here in a camper.

The resort brochure motto is "Prettiest Little Parl this side of Heaven" which holds true as a description. The Park grounds are well manicured and maintain. Restrooms and other facilities are both clean and inviting. Over one-half of the campsites are located on a beautiful mountain stream whose falling waters add to a truly relaxing atmosphere. We found the park owners/managers, David and Christy Smith to be excellent host. They were most accommodating as well as truly concerned with our entire family enjoying their vacation. We did feel the daily additional rate charge for family members to be a bit higher than usual. However we truly loved our visit and will both recommend as well as return ourselves for future visits. If you are looking for a beautiful, well kept, clean campground-go to Mountain Stream! The creek sites with rustling, rushing waters are the perfect place to relax. We appreciated so very much that the owners, David and Christina Smith, are Christians and make it a point to invite you to attend church with them if you are in the Park over a Sunday. A big plus for the campground is that no alcoholic beverages are allowed in public. Activities are planned each week for the entire family. The Park is located close to many area attractions. We highly recommend this wonderful park. We camped here in a camper.

Motto "Prettiest Little Park this side of Heaven" describes it well. Some pet restrictions. About 4 miles off Blue Ridge Parkway. We camped here in a camper.
This is an impossible park to get to. The road in is small and poorly marked. The road down into the park is approximately 50%. Once you get here you had better be a billy goat. Our site was somewhat flat but don't know how we can get out of it tomorrow. All the attractions were closed. For the price it is not worth the hassel. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
This was our first visit to this campground. The campground is a good home base location for visiting the Asheville, Mt Mitchell, Linville-Boone-Blowing Rock, Chimney Rock, and Lake Lure areas. It also would be considered by most to be a destination. The park has a pool, mini golf, water slide, volleyball, basketball, and many planned activities for the kiddies and adults. The park is easy to get to but out in the country. They have a park store that has necessities but the closest Grocery store is about four miles away. It also has several nice restaurants nearby. The restrooms and showers were kept clean and smelling fresh. The lake sites were nice. The other RV sites were on a fairly steep hill that required a good walk to get to the activities. Cell phone service was pretty non existant until you were about a mile out of the park. While the sites were nice some of them had severe drops off the edge that I would consider dangerous for small children. Most needed at least a new load of gravel. The roads in the park are not paved which could cause it to be dusty in dry weather. The reason for our score was the cost per night and the extras. $6 per day for the waterslide, $3 per game of mini golf. We just thought that was a bit much for what is was. One thing that we were very happy about was the guy that led you to your site. He knew exactly where the rig need to be to get the most space usage from the site. He told you where to pull to and where to back to on the site. That really helps with the setup process. We will stay here again in the future. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
This is a very nice park. We were in a pull-thru in the B section and it was huge. It was up on top of the hill so it was quite a hike to the main activity area but a nice quiet area non the less. Management was very nice and they had tons of kids activities. My main complaint was the fact that they open the pool and waterslide ($6.00 per person even if you camp there) to the public from 10-3. The place was mobbed with groups having parties/gatherings to the point my 4 year old was scared to get near the waterslide. The pool was closed due to some type of state inspections they were waiting on so it made the slide even more crowded. With a small one that is not a good swimmer I don't know if we would come back on a weekend if it is like that all summer. Otherwise a great campground! We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
This is our second visit to this mark in two months. We love it! The grounds and bathrooms are spotless. The owners are very nice and make sure that everyone abides by the rules. The pool is big, clean and well supervised. There were a lot of fun activities for the children. The setting of the campground is beautiful with the lake and the mountains. We will camp here as often as we can. We had friends camp here in a tent and they loved it as well. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
Very nice park. It is now called Jellystone not Hidden Valley. For children this is a paradise. Huge pool with a water slide next to it. There are charges for using the slide but it was very nice. Also lots of activities could not keep up with them but there is a lot to do. As for the campground the site I had was a pull through not much front patio area and it was next to the road. If I am to go again I would choose a site on the pond or up the huge hill. Nice size patio areas for those spots. The only complaint I had was the main roads were not paved and a lot of dust every due to passing vehicles. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
We stayed there for a week and really enjoyed ourselves. Everything was clean and very quite at night. The owners went out of their way to make sure we enjoyed our stay. I would rate the campground a 9 or a 10 if they installed 50 amp power and cable tv. We will stay there again! We camped here in a Motorhome.
We camped here for two nights with some friends of ours. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. The restrooms were spotless. The site was fairly level for being on a mountain side. The access road into the park was pretty narrow and steep but not too bad. There were tons of activities going on the entire weekend. This park is definitely family friendly, they have nightly movies and other activities for kids. The only drawback we had was that we were in the B section which is located on a pretty steep hill with no shade. This section was a long way from the pool and other activities and the hill was so steep that we couldn't ride our bikes easily. Other than that, this is an extremely nice campground. We camped here in a Tent Trailer.
We spent a wonderful week at this campground. Bathrooms were sparkling and there was plenty of hot water. Plenty of activities planned for all age groups -- our family especially enjoyed BINGO and a new game called "Left-Center-Right." Our daughter met plenty of new friends to play with and had a ball in the pool and on the water slide. (I counted 5 lifeguards on duty.) The owners and staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful and escorted us to our site. This is a beautiful "hidden valley" campground and one we plan to visit often. We camped here in a Tent Trailer.
This is a wonderful park with beautiful scenery and tons of things to do. There were so many activities that our family could not do them all. We stayed over Father's Day weekend and the kids were able to paint a special t-shirt for their dad for $1.00 each! Everyone was very friendly and the campground was very clean. The campground has gravel roads and sites which were very, very dusty. The dust began to bother us after a while. It would help greatly if the roads and perhaps the sites were paved. However, we would camp here again. We camped here in a Tent Trailer.
We camped here in a fifth wheel in the B section.B13 to be exact. These were not wooded sites but were level and very spacious. The owners were very helpful as they took us to our site. Great place for kids. There were a ton of kids around and there were many activities that kept them busy. Between the Jr Olympic pool, waterslide and the playground this kept all of us busy. The lake is nice although it had not been stocked this year we still had fun never the less. Another thing worth noting was how quiet the park was.I believe quit hours started at 11pm and it was just that. A very relaxing time. We took our small dog and the doggy walk was spotless. The park was very well manicured and clean. This is a very family friendly campground and we will definitely make plans for a future trip. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

This was our first visit to this campground but it is now one of our favorites! In fact, we registered for two more weekends while we were there. It is one of the prettiest places we have been, with friendly staff and lots for kids to do. Unfortunately, we waited until the last minute to make reservations for a holiday weekend and were told that there were only two spots left. When we arrived, I wasn't entirely thrilled with the site (D-5) because it was not shaded63. We ended up being very pleased because we could keep an eye on our daughter at the playground without leaving our site. We were also right next to the Big Pavilion and many of the weekend activities were just a few steps from our camper. (Bingo, Music, Horseshoes, Volleyball, S'Mores Campfire, Sunday Services, etc.) The Big Pavilion also has restrooms, but no showers. There wasn't much foot traffic near our site otherwise, so it was also one of the most quiet at night. We found out that we were in the "overflow" section and they only open the D section up when the campground is full and there are no corporate events scheduled at the Big Pavilion. We would be happy to stay in that section again. The most attractive feature of this campground is the waterslide -- there was an additional cost of $6 for a 1-day pass; $9 for a 2-day pass, and $12 for a 4-7 day pass. Well worth the money as that was all our daughter wanted to do each day. We also rented a paddle boat for $3.50. They offered free use of volleyballs and horseshoes. There was a full schedule of events and activities were geared to both kids and adults. The campground is very clean and well-maintained. Friendly staff and beautiful scenery make it one of the best around. We camped here in a Tent Trailer.
We visited this campground in Oct. 2003. Nice campground, but our site was not very desirable. We were parked beside a mud bank with no trees at all. Have some sites on small pond that looked nice. Restrooms were clean. They have putt-putt and a pool with water slide. Would be a good summertime cg. We camped here in a Tent Trailer.
