Just a place to park and sleep if your visiting others in town. All sites are back in, and most of the camping area is dedicated to storage with a few monthly residents. We stay here when visiting as it is safe and there are no other options anyway. We camped here in a Motorhome.

I would like to clarify that this is not a campground but a camping area behind the RV Dealer. We stayed here for a month while renovations were being done to our home. It was convenient and fairly quiet. Sites are somewhat level and all sites have 30 amp only. There is a fair amount of mud around if it is rainy, and dusty if dry. But it was convenient for us and met our needs. Office staff was very accommodating. We camped here in a Motorhome.

We were passing through en route to the Outer Banks and this was the only campground in the Raleigh area. I had called ahead to make sure there was a site and was told the site numbers. This is an RV dealership that has hook up sites that are mostly occupied by monthly renters. As we were pulling in, the police were at a travel trailer next to the site number we were told. After we were parked, we spoke to the resident who told us his camper was burglarized and the TV stolen, while he was away for the weekend. We did not rest easy that night. We did not see any pull though sites and we did not have cable. If there are cable sites, perhaps the monthlies are occupying them. There is a Walmart less than a mile away. We camped here in a Motorhome.

We were here for some service and loved being able to stay at the park directly behind the service and sales center. The park was nothing special but had full hook-ups (30 amps). The staff at Plemmons was extremely friendly and easy to work with. They made time for our service and even moved the RV out of and back into our spot while servicing, all while we visited Raleigh and Chapel Hill. More pavement would be nice but we had a good stay. We camped here in a Motorhome.

This is an simply an extremely "old camping" hill with full hookups out behind the Bill Plemmons RV World Sales and Service Dealer. We only stayed here on Sunday evening when we arrived in Raleigh because it was too late (5:30pm) because of the lack of daylight left to risk trying to find a better place to stay. There really wasn't much good about this "campground" itself however we managed to locate, hook up and level out our travel trailer on our own. The RV center was closed, (on Sunday's, which we appreciate as the day of rest). We needed a propane refill and were very pleased with the quick service at Bill Plemmons RV World. Our propane refill service tech. was very helpful when we asked about our particular Travel Trailer model, as we're new to RVing. We won't reccommend this place to anyone. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

We've always been big fans of the NC State Parks system, and we will continue to use them. It's unfortunate that budget cuts are really noticeable. The cleanliness of the bathhouses is the lowest I've ever seen at this park. I would have had to have been very desperate to use the showers. Some of the sites no longer have gravel covering them as weeds have taken over. That said, the sites are very generous in size and private. We had a great time, and we will camp here again. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

A very nice place to stay. Nestled in the woods, just a short walk down to the lake. We got fooled by our GPS when approaching, luckily my wife glanced a sign reading "Rolling View". Following for about 10 miles we finally found the entrance to the park. Nobody in the rangers office. However, the campground's map showed our reserved site. It turned out to be a bit narrow but nicely arranged staircase to a private picnic area. Very quiet and if there would have been other campers, we still would have had a lot of privacy since the sites are well apart from each other with trees and shrubs in between. There is no Wi-Fi or cable here and no chance to catch any signals under the tree canopies. Definitely worth coming back and staying again. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

A great place to "get away from it all". Very secluded, private sites amidst tall trees and thick foliage. Very spacious and level sites, all well maintained. Wide roads for easy maneuverability. Nice beach areas with swing sets. Not the most friendly or helpful staff at the entrance. They failed to give us a campground map, then handed us one sullenly (no apology) when we returned to get it. Note that what appear to be "waterfront" sites may not have a view due to thick trees between the site and the water. No Wi-Fi or cable, which is either a detriment or a good opportunity to truly "disconnect" from the modern world! We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

Have traveled extensively throughout the U.S. and have stayed in many state parks and this is the ONLY one we've ever encountered where the gates are LOCKED at 6PM or 8PM..depending in the time of year. When we questioned the reasons for this bizzare rule, we told told it was for "security" purposes! This is a huge lake and the camping area is easily accessible by boat. Campers wanting to be outside the park after the curfew hours, either drive to the gate and leave their vehicle unattended, ripe for theives... or arrange to be picked up and WALK in the dark back to their campsite, which for senior citizens is a hazardous 1/2 mile or more hike. We know of many campers who are avoiding this park because of these rules..causing lost revenue for the state. We will not be coming back unless the rules are changed. We camped here in a Motorhome.

4201 Baptist Road, Durham NC 27703; 10 miles north of Raleigh and 12 miles east of Durham. Part of 38,000 acre Falls Lake State Recreation Area located around Falls Lake Reservoir. Reservations http://www.ncparks.gov/Visit/parks/fala/reserve.php Fire ant warning at entry; we walked loop B, saw no fire ants. If fire ants are present, wear shoes and socks. This is our idea of a perfect campground. Basic amenities include water, 30 amp power, our favorite steel fire ring, picnic table, rest rooms/showers, playground. No golf course, swimming pool, games, “resort activities”, leaf blowers, street or highway noise. Dogs don’t bark much because the sites are not jammed together; the only sounds are wind through the pines and bird songs. Large, widely spaced sites; some shaded and some in the open. A few pull throughs. Easy parking at all sites in loop B; no obstructing trees, rocks, or posts. Recycling at bathrooms; aluminum, glass, plastic. Good TV and Verizon signals. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

This is a beautiful campground. Rolling hills, forested campsites, and nice walking trails through the woods. It had been raining quite a bit so several sights were extremely wet and unusable. Carefully check the description of the lots before you book in a travel trailer. Some have a considerable slope which will make leveling difficult. The gates are locked at 6:00 p.m., so make sure you are back or prepare for a hike. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

We found Rollingview Campground on the Falls Lake State Park web site to be open conveniently for our Thanksgiving week stay in the Raleigh area. The sites were very large and accommodating. Each with it's own picnic table, and campfire ring. One problem is that they close the front gates at 6pm, so you either get in by 6pm or park and walk to your site. What was even more surprising is when someone came knocking on our door in the middle of the night to ask how to operate the front gate. Obviously he was unaware of the 6pm curfew. We were a little disappointed there were no sewer hookups at the sites, but we learned quickly how to utilize the park's dump station. The lake itself was very pretty, unfortunately extremely low water level due to the the nations draught. The scenic ride around campground gave us quite a bit of joy, to see the fall foliage. We were blessed with gorgeous weather. We did notice that the temperature at Rollinview was a bit colder than in Wake Forest (about 10 degrees). Route 98 from Wake Forest to Rollingview is also a beautiful, scenic drive approximately 25 mins/15.7 miles to the Baptist Rd. turn. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

We did not stay here, but I drove through scouting it out as a possible camping spot for my family, as we live fairly local. The sites are spacious, with more than half the sites offering W/E hookups. I walked through one bath house, and it was very clean with clean, hot showers. Several sites have a lake view, and a few have their own little path down to the lake. I saw park rangers patrolling the campground, so that is a plus. There is a boat ramp and a swim area, so water activities are plentiful. We will be staying there later this year. We camped here in a Tent Trailer.

$20 is regular price but we had a senior discount. Rolling View has a number of sites where you can use your satellite dish. Holly Point does not. All sites are very rustic. Security was excellent. We saw the ranger about 10 times a day. The ranger carried a 9mm pistol which we welcomed. We also saw the Sheriff on occasion. We felt very safe even though the sites are remote. Restrooms were not very clean. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

Visited park in 40' motorhome. Roads are paved and sites are wide and gravel. There was some mud on sides of roads as it had rained. Larger rigs will have difficulty backing into many sites without leaving roadway. Electric service was 30 amp and water at site. Dump station available. Some sites have lake view, but most don't. Restrooms modern & clean. In winter the front gate was locked at 6pm, which necessitated a 20 minute walk in a cold and dark park. We camped here in a Motorhome.

What a wonderful campground! We were in the area visiting colleges during spring break and used the campground as a base. The park rangers we spoke to were nice and friendly. One morning they came around to make us aware of a severe storm warning for the area. It was a bit of hike to Raleigh and Durham, but we knew that prior to making reservations. The campground did appear to be under the flight path for Raleigh as we noticed / heard a number of planes on approach. We didn't swim in the lake as it was too cold. The sites were huge. We would definitely camp here again. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

Great place close to triangle. Wooded campsites close to lake. Lots of privacy. Easy walk to swimming area, fishing pier. Bathhouses very clean. No frills. Great outdoors kind of place. Staff very helpful. Overall, very well maintained. Will be back for close to home camping. Yes, they search the trash cans, but that helps to keep the place safe and eliminates the partying. We camped on a July weekend and the campground was practically empty. The lake is down over 5' so there was no swimming and very little boating. We had a great site with a view of the lake and lots of privacy. Most all of the sites are very spreadout with lots of shade. Clean restrooms and very well kept up. Did not like the gates locking from 9:00 pm until 8:00 am the next morning. Means you may have to walk in to your site if
you miss closing time. Will visit again. We camped here in a camper.

A nice state park right on a lake at a great price-point but the motor boats get rather noisy very early in
the morning. Also... we found the campground Nazis over-patrolling the park and even digging through garbage cans looking for evidence of alcohol (which is not permitted in state parks). We camped here in a camper.

I have stayed here many times. There are actually a few camping areas as part of the fairgrounds. The main fairground area has sites on the north side (Trinity Rd), northeast (Trinity Rd/Blue Ridge Rd), and west (Youth Center Drive) and behind James Hunt Horse Complex (Youth Center Dr). The Horse Complex sites are new and nice. The Trinity Rd sites are just a few along the fence (outside the fence) and you can pull-through. The west sites are inside the fence and fairly uneven but okay. The northeast corner is inside the fence and are pretty nice too. When you arrive find a spot and call the NC Fairgrounds security folks. The number is on the fence at the horse complex or you can wait until the security person comes around. As far as I know the Horse Complex is open 24hrs. The other area gates are locked late and you will enter and exit through the main gate on Blue Ridge Rd. The only major drawback about this place would be the dirt roads. The entrance to the Horse Complex on Youth Center Rd behind the Horse Complex. The Horse Complex has no bathrooms but the main fairground's bathrooms are located in the middle of the fairground. We camped here in a Motorhome.

Sites are being remodeled by section, only back-in but there is room. We stayed in the section above the horses, no one was in the row across from us. If there had been, it would have been a struggle to back in and pull out. The grass had not grown in our section yet, the other was very nice and well maintained. Had water, electric, sewer; 4G on Sprint MiFi; Sprint cell service was good, no trees so satellite was excellent. Sworn Police Officers take care of the Park, assigning spots, parking people, collecting cash or check (only). No reservations, first come, first serve. Definitely call before going to check availability and ask what gate to go in. We had to turn around twice and the gate people had no idea how much room we needed to do so. Very quiet, close to restaurants & shopping. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

We stayed in the newer area above the horse center. As others have stated, the area can be dusty and the sites could be more level. But it's fine for an overnight or if you need to be in Raleigh for other activities. More sites are being added to this area, about doubling its capacity when completed. A couple of points worth mentioning: 1) The entrance to this particular camping area is actually on Youth Center Road, I believe it was gate H7. The website gives the impression the entrance is H3 on Trinity Road, this is NOT correct. 2) Be aware that the fairgrounds are directly across the street from the NC State football stadium. You should find out if there is a home football game scheduled for the day of your arrival or departure. You don't want to be pulling in or out anywhere near kick off time or when the game is over. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

We stayed in a newer area near the horse stalls (but not too close) which is an open pasture. Roads are wide, gravel and pretty dusty, but controllable by traffic. Our site was level, 45' long, but not too wide with some gravel and grass. There are some un-level sites and no facilities other than the FH utilities in this section. Wi-Fi worked for me, but you will need an external adapter. There are about 40 sites, but like other Fair Grounds, hundreds of sites scattered around the grounds. We camped here in a Motorhome.

We stayed in the newer area by the horse arena. For $25 (we were told cash only) we got steady 50 amp service, water (pressure is very low) and sewer hook up. Most sites are extremely unlevel. We saw trailers and fifth wheels with their tongue on the ground and rear in the air trying to get level. Obviously whoever built/designed the area was not an RVer. The roads, made from large pieces of crushed rock, are very dusty. You need to be self-contained as there are no bathrooms/showers. No trees so satellite reception is good but it will be hot in the summer. There is no Wi-Fi signal available. Security personnel are nice, helpful and patrol the area frequently. There is absolutely nothing for kids (no playground, no pool, nothing) unless there is an event at the fairgrounds. No reservations available and this is a busy place on the weekends, so don’t expect to find a space available when there are big events. We camped here in a Motorhome.

Stayed here two nights while exploring Raleigh. Had to hunt someone down for check in, but we discovered that someone is available at the phone number shown 24 hours a day, so you can check in any time you want. You call the phone number, they tell you to pick the site you want and they will come collect payment later. Cash or personal checks only. Great TV reception if you use an antenna. Great Verizon Air Card reception on 4G. Only bad thing is this is basically a parking lot with hookups. The hookups are side by side, if you take one side, the connections are on the correct side, but if you take the other side, the connections will be on the wrong side of your RV. Sites were not very level. But if you just want to explore Raleigh, this will work. We camped here in a Motorhome.

This park is located in Raleigh, NC, and is easy to access from I-40. There are several sections of RV parking on the NC State Fair grounds. We stayed in the new section near the horse center. The sites are good sized, fairly level, with a gravel base. This section is new and the grass was still pretty sparse. The Safety Office (located at gate 11) manages the park and collects fees (cash or check only); however, there are no reservations. We stayed here about 3 weeks, although permission is required for stays longer than one week and may not be possible during large events (especially the State Fair in the fall). The section we were in had about 50 spaces and while we were here the occupancy ranged from 3 to 20 RVs. Security is excellent since the Safety Officers patrol the park almost hourly. The officers were very helpful and friendly. We camped here in a Motorhome.

The State Fairgrounds has recently opened a whole brand new camping area. It is on a hill behind the Horse Complex. This area is all 50 amp, full hookups with posts that light up at night all around the area. All sites are back in. It is a work in progress as they are planning on adding more sites. It is secure and patrolled 24-7. Sites are fairly level with gravel pads. New grass has been sown in between the campsites. We stayed here while some renovations were being done on our home and cannot say enough good things about it! The area is private and there is plenty of room to walk pets. Security promotes advertising of this area and would like to see more use of it. We camped here in a Motorhome.

For $25 per night, you get power, water, sewer, decent Wi-Fi (until somebody sets up beside you with their own and kills the fairground's signal), and the comfort of constantly-patrolling security officers who are incredibly nice. You also get choking dust, un-level sites, absolutely no room to put your awning out when there is an event going on, and no rules about leashing or picking up after dogs. If being in Raleigh is a necessity, as it often is for us, the NC State Fairgrounds is the best option in the area, but that’s not saying much. All 50-amp sites are extremely un-level. We spent one night teetering on stacks of leveling blocks at the “tanker lot” on the corner of Hillsboro and Youth Center Road. The next morning, we moved down to the Hunt Horse Complex where we had our pick of sites, but none of them were remotely level either. This place is run by the NC Department of Agriculture! Surely they have a spare tractor they could use to grade these sites! We’ll be back, but only because the only other full hookup choice in Raleigh, behind the Winnebago dealership, is even more un-level and feels really unsafe. We camped here in a Motorhome.

As previous reviews have said, the 50 amp sites are not level, expect to use leveling blocks in addition to your jacks. The road is dusty and there's no shade trees. The 30 amp sites are better, having some trees. Gate 11 on Blue Ridge Rd is always open, however the CG is all the way in the rear and hard to get to on weekends as events are ongoing. The gates off Hillsborough St and Youth Center drive are also usually open and easier to get to the CG. We have stayed here several times as it is a convenient place to stay if visiting the city or area. Self park and security will come around to collect the fees. Be careful with the fee sticker as they want to place it on your coach, even on the fiberglass or plastic, very hard to remove. They will let you put the fee receipt and sticker on the inside of your windshield if you ask. We camped here in a Motorhome.

This park has very good electrical service. The 50 amp sites are not level and the pad area is not hard packed. Water pressure is low. This is definitely not a resort and not kid friendly. However, considering there are not any nice parks in the Raleigh area, it is a very good place to stay if you have people to see and places to go in the area. The location is very convenient. There are always events taking place in the fairgrounds that may be of interest. We camped here in a Motorhome.

Good for overnight stops or tail-gating for an NC State game. Safe and secure areas available for RV's: are flat and properly equipped. If it rains it is a mud-hole, but it dries out quickly. We are here for an extended stay out of need not want. State parks north and south are a better bet if you do not need to be close to town. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

Very close to attractions in Raleigh and shows going on at fair grounds. Can get real muddy during wet weather. Would not recommend staying here for anything other than shows taking place at fairgrounds and you are going to attend or work show. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

This is nothing special except for location. They are one of the few in Raleigh and they take good care of you. There is a Flea Market on Saturday and other events keep you occupied. The grounds are safe and a fun walk. Stay between gates 4 and 5 for some shade. We camped here in a Motorhome.

There are full hook up sites available. I stayed here as part of a business trip. It is basically a place to park with hookups; there are no other amenities. When I was there a dog show was in progress in the Fair facilities and a new car show was leaving. I don't think there is an on site office. The grounds has a police force who collect fees and police the area. I called ahead and was told there was no problem getting a site, but the nights I was there the place was pretty full. You may want to check the activities calendar for the Fair. If I am working or have some activity in the Raleigh area I would stay there again. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

First time camping here although it is less than 30 minutes from home. There are just a few sites that will accommodate a popup camper. We stayed on site 22 which is large enough to work for us. Fairly quiet campground other than the airplanes coming and going into nearby RDU. Overall a nice campground if you can live without electrical hook ups. We camped here in a Tent Trailer.

Nice park but not designed for campers. There are 2 maybe 3 sites that can accommodate a trailer. There are no hook ups and they close the gate at 2000 until 0600. Nice park to visit and maybe if you camp in a tent it's fine but not for a camper. No alcohol allowed in the park if that's a consideration for you. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
