We stayed here four nights and loved it. Great people keep it looking like new. You can hear the train and I-95 traffic if you listen for it, but we didn't find them loud enough to be objectionable. Neither our RV760 GPS nor the one built in to our CRV would have ever gotten us to the park, but as always we verified the route with maps before leaving home. The instructions on the Web site are simple and correct, and we had no trouble finding the place. We couldn't find a dog-friendly restaurant in Roanoke Rapids, but there are two in nearby Weldon that have great food. It's true that this is not your place if you are looking for theme parks, IMAX, Costco or shopping meccas, but there is more than enough to see and do if you are interested in America's history. Sites are a little short for a 40 ft MH and toad. They do have auxiliary parking if you protrude too much for safety. DW can't wait to go back. We camped here in a Motorhome.

Calling it a "resort" might be a little of a stretch but it does have a nice pool, a games room and a modern conference room. The owner has put some serious money into this place and it shows. Great for an overnight and easy, less than a couple minutes, off of 95. Any highway noise dependent on wind direction and distant enough, as is train noise, which is very distant. Yes, you may wash your rig here. A very big plus for some of us. No question, if in the area, we will stop here again. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

Park is not easy access off 1-95. It might be close, but the winding and confusing roads make it difficult. We picked an express site and the cost was fair. The train that goes by starting at 5 AM was ridiculous. The blowing of the whistle that early was not very good. With the poor location to 95 and the train noise we would not stay here again. We camped here in a Motorhome.
