This was a nice and convenient campground, not exceptional in any way, just a nice, easy to get into and out of campground. The pool was nice, as we were there during the week, it was pretty much deserted. The washrooms/showers were very clean and neat. The actual sites themselves were mostly treed and ours backed onto the forested area and was fairly level. Baddeck is a short drive away and well worth visiting. If you get the chance take in a celidh (say it like kaillie). We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
Functioned well for us while visiting Cape Breton. We're C2C members. The pool seemed very nice, and one the weekend families made extensive use of it. Road in/out is only wide enough for one vehicle, and there is no way of seeing what is coming from either direction. Tight getting into some sites. We were in the upper section and could get satellite using tripod, but at the first hint of rain, lost the signal. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Although this park had full service hookups and met our needs, I do think it is misrepresented in the camping books. It does not deserve the accolades it gives itself. This park has a high amount of dust in the air due to the roads, the sites are muddy and uneven and there is no office or internet access available. We stayed as Coast-to-Coast members so, it was worth what we had to pay. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
Very accommodating staff ( the gate person is the staff ). Not much to do at the park. Pool closed when we were there and their showers were being renovated. Sinks/commodes were in clean working shape. We did get a satellite signal but had to park in the lower water/elec area only. No sewer. This area also was not level and they had some water/ soggy site problems. They have a restaurant ( Red Barn ) about 1/2 mile away. The Bell Museum and downtown Baddeck is about 10 minutes away. Worth seeing. They now have competition across the street but we stayed here because we are Coast to Coast Members and the 8.00 per night price was hard to pass up. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
A nice quiet campground with lots of trees. Good base for the Cabot Trail and Louisbourg. We were here after Labor Day weekend so it was pretty empty. My only complaint was the lack of cable TV, our antenna would only pick up CBC. Would stay again. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
Nice campground with super helpful staff. Surprisingly good restaurant at campground with great breakfast at really low prices. Some sites a little not level, and the dump station is a little out of the way on exit. We would definitely stay here again. We camped here in a Motorhome.
We had an open back in site. We had a nice view from our site of the valley and mountains. Nice grassy area though smaller than others. We were with friends that had the largest grass site next to us. The store had basic supplies, pool and there was an on-site restaurant, but we did not eat there. The Cabot trail loop started and ended right there in Baddeck so location was the key. What a BEAUTIFUL DRIVE. One day does not do the drive justice. Do it in both directions. Baddeck village had nice assortment of restaurants and activities. Do not miss Louisbough either. We camped here in a Motorhome.
New owners took over in July and need to get better at managing the park. We made reservations for a pull-through site with 50 amp service, but were told when making the reservation that they would not commit to any particular site and we would be assigned a location upon arrival. When we checked in, we were given our choice of a very short and unlevel pull through with only 30 amp service, or a pull through that became a back in once the other half was filled. In talking with other campers that had made reservations 3 months in advance, they also had similar problems. We found out from other campers that this "rule" only applies to transient campers. Specific sites were promised to "regulars" and the owners made several big rigs move to accommodate these site specific promises made to regulars. There really are only about 6 true 50 amp pull-through sites for big rigs. Most of the other pull-through sites are 30 amp and are on very, very unlevel ground and is not suitable for anything over 30' in length. Also, be aware that even though there is Wi-Fi at the top of the hill where the big rig sites are, it doesn't work unless you force the owner to go up the hill and reset the router: required on a daily basis. The Wi-Fi does work well at the laundry. We might stay here again if the owners clean up their act and give you the type of site you ask for when you make reservations. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
It is a very nice campground with all the amenities you need. There is a nice restaurant on grounds. They seem to enforce the quiet time somewhat loosely though, as some sites kept going beyond midnight. Nevertheless, we used the campground as the base for 4 days during our motorcycle tour in Nova Scotia, and we liked it. We camped here in a Tent.
This park is a gem. Misture of open space and trees. Well maintained. Portion of entrance road is gravel but well graded. Immaculate facilities and pleasant staff. Nicely positioned at base of Cabot Trail. We will be back next year. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
We stayed here 3 nights. Road in is fine; pavement, gravel then pavement again. Sites up on the hill are gravel and wide enough for slide outs. It rained alot and the sites drained OK, although the grass got really soggy. But they have had a lot of rain this summer. The park is very convenient to the Cabot Trail and Baddeck. WiFi is free, moderately fast and we had 4 bars in our site #214. We used the laundry and it was clean. $1.25 wash. $1.00 dry. Took another $1.00 to get the clothes dry, but it always takes two cycles on dry. Right? We camped here in a Motorhome.
Good Sam discount. This by far is the best & prettiest campground on Cape Breton Island. Plenty of pull-thru's with Electric, Water, and Sewer. Lots of sites with trees. Only about four miles south of Baddeck. We stayed a week. Would definitely stay here again. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
We loved this place. I don't know what the previous person's problem was. The bathrooms were clean and had some of the best showers I've ever seen in a campground, really powerful and hot. The wi-fi worked great. The pool was really nice. We arrived at our site at 10 p.m. after being in town, and it was very quiet. The sites are not really made for big rigs, because they are kind of hilly. The access road was long but fine--we have a 27-foot RV. It looks like a former KOA. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Once again no listing in trailer life about the access road. When you turn off the highway it starts paved, then just around the corner(no place to turn around) it's lovely dusty gravel! narrow in spots and regulars just hauling butt to leave you in a dust cloud! no real area to park and unhook or park and check in. We were supposed to stay a week but one night was plenty. We were given an end site, employees flying by kicking up clouds of dust making it near impossible to sit outside. It appeared to be a park that kids just run rampart in. When we came back from dinner there were kids bicycles and candy wrappers all over my site, when I asked next door the man said oh yeah theres kids everywhere. Quiet hours are supposed to be 10-8 but there were kids running amuck and yelling til well past 11:30pm. They advertise wi-fi but I guess you have to be in the perfect site to get it. In general this place is a zoo and the animals run free with no adult supervision and no management presence to enforce the rules. My advice keep on rolling up the road is the new bras d'or lakes campground we did and the worst we've had to deal with is the natives not knowing what 5 mph's is. We camped here in a Motorhome.
This park is pretty neat and clean. However, when we were there most of the tent sites were not cleaned up and we could not get the one we wanted. The prices listed on the website are not always accurate so be aware. You can hear the trucks going by at night so don't plan on getting a good night's sleep. The pool, restaurant and bathrooms are all pretty clean. I've stayed here twice, but only the most recent time was the camp owner extremely rude..there were some people being loud on another site and he came to our's and threatened to call the RCMP. Not a good experience and I would NEVER stay again. We camped here in a Tent.
There are some roughly hewn wooded sites in this park that are not particularly level - caution. The better larger pull throughs are new and can be either spacious or you may be only 3' slide to slide from your neighbor. There are only 5 of them. We were not able to get WiFi, which was even spotty and weak at the office. 50 amp power and water were good. We were about 8 miles from Baddeck. I would not return to this park. We prefer parks slightly more finished in our opinion. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
Originally we stayed at Glenview Campground (down the road from here). What a mistake that was. Trucks driving by night and day. We left early and went to Cabot Trail Campground. What a difference. Cabot has many pull thru's. Even though it's hilly the sites are level. We had site # 245 pull thru and it was in the trees and level with E-W-S... They have a trail that goes down to the river and canoes are available. Owners were great and the laundry room had plenty of washers and dryers. Very quiet and covenient to Baddeck. Baddeck is a wonderful seaside town and don't miss dinner at Lynwood Inn. Co-Op is across the street to buy groceries. Would definitely stay here again. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
I would have rated this higher but we had one of the worst two spots in the park. **Never stay in sites 36 or 37.** When we arrived no one was in the site on our street side and it seemed OK although we were a little unhappy that the other neighbors awning almost touched ours when extended. I was really upset when we returned from our sight-seeing--a fifth wheel was moving in next to us. Their slides were within 8 inches (yes 8 inches) of ours. When he set up his water lines, he or his doors hit our coach--no apology though. They were too busy taking pictures of the closeness of our slides (nothing I would want to remember). We woke up in the morning to our coach vibrating from their loud TV. The WIFI was a problem also. Besides being slow, the system was down at one point so I went to the office to verify that it was not my computer. The man was short with me and told me he didn't know if it was down and he would have to go "all the way upstairs" to find out. I walked out telling him I was just making him aware I believed his system was down. About 30 minutes later, the system was working slowly again. We camped here in a Motorhome.
We were here a week. Overpriced for what you get. We reserved a pull thru, but when getting there was put into a back in. Site #221. Was told the site we reserved, the people in it wanted to stay longer, so the management was letting them stay. The back it was back to back with another RV and shared electric and water. But both were fine during our stay. In fact a lot of the pull thrus are to small for a "Big Rig". A lot of the pull thrus need some major branch cutting. The Wi-Fi was hit and mostly miss but better then nothing which is what we had since our satellite internet provider doesn't reach this far. There is a Wi-Fi "Hot Spot" by the laundry room, with tables. This is a easy in easy out for a HDT and a 35 ft trailer if you are parked in the back ins. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
This centrally located CG is an ideal spot from which to explore Cape Breton Island. We spent 12 days here, ranging from light occupancy to the Canada Day weekend, when the property was SLAMMED! The staff did a yeoman's job at controlling the pandemonium, but be prepared for a crowd. Other caveat: you're in the middle of the woods in a largely undeveloped area of an island; be prepared for no television (either OTA or US satellite), sporadic power outages, few conveniences and sparse wi-fi. Many will find this idyllic, while others may be turned off. We found the CG a pure delight, from the beautiful surroundings to a capable and extremely cordial management. The CG is convenient to Baddeck and Lake Bra d'Or, as well as to the start/end of the gorgeous Cabot Trail. It has a lovely pool, a well-stocked store, an excellent on-site restaurant, well-maintained grounds and very nice washroom/showers. We highly recommend as a destination; it's a keeper! We camped here in a Motorhome.
Stayed here for one night in mid-June. 10% off with Good Sam. The main part of the campground is very steep with grassy sites cut into the hill. This area is very nice and shaded, although you will need to level your unit. You can pull through, but this area is for smaller units only (our motorhome is 24' and this is about the max for the lower area). At the top of the hill is the area for larger rigs - no grass, no trees. Not sure a really big rig would fit. Did not use wifi at the site, but used it in the laundry - excellent signal. They have a restaurant on premises that looked good although we didn't try it. We went to the Baddeck Lobster Supper, just down the road. We preferred the KOA in North Sydney, so we probably would not stay here again. We camped here in a Motorhome.
The comments made by others about periodic electrical outages and sporadic wi-fi still applied when we were there, however, they were only minor inconveniences. The road into the park was pretty rough, but they resurfaced it while we were there and it was much improved. It's a bit far east and north to get the DirecTV satellite signal, but you shouldn't be there to watch TV anyway. The park has a nice feel, and the sites are level. The park is well maintained and the personnel are friendly and courteous. And yes, there is wildlife. I was walking my dogs on the entry road and a black bear crossed the road about 30 yards in front of me. He glanced at us and kept walking. The park is very convenient to the Cabot Trail and the town of Baddeck itself. I recommend it. We camped here in a Motorhome.
We used this facility as a based when visiting Cape Breton. Our treed site was somewhat small be we preferred this versus a larger open site. We would stay here again. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
We camped here in June, 2006 and they just installed wi-fi. Park exceptionally pretty and clean. Heated pool, close to town. We camped here in a Motorhome.
This was an okay park that is fairly close to Baddeck. It is somewhat hilly and leveling was a problem on our site, but not impossible. The sites are fairly large, but (even though the it has trees) the park has an "open" feel to it. You can walk down to the bay from the park, but the sites are far from the water. The restrooms were clean, as was the park itself. Somehow, it lacked visual appeal, but I guess that is a really subjective judgment....it's just that so much of Cape Breton Island is SO beautiful, that I was a little disapointed in these surroundings. It's an okay, but not outstanding, place to stay. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
Great location to start or end a trip thru the Cabot Trail. Friendly people, reasonable sized sites, and close to activities. Some of the smaller sites for PU's and smaller TT's seemed to be somewhat sloping. (I saw lots of blocks for leveling). Nice place and well kept. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Very nice park, very nice people running it! We found the park was a great location for touring Cape Breton and area. There were a few holes in camp sites recently filled with gravel. Reasonably sized sites for big rigs. Quite a few camping supplies in office. We camped here in a Motorhome.
This was a great campground - especially for visiting the Cabot Trail. The staff were very friendly and helpful with directions and knowledgeable about local attractions. It rained a bit during our stay so we made great use of the games available in the rec room and when the sun came out we throughly enjoyed the pool and grounds. The amenities were very clean and the staff were very attentive to the grounds. The view of the Bras d'Or Lakes is beautiful and the walking trail along the waterfront was just gorgeous - Great for picture taking and some bird watching. All in all a great experience and I can't wait to visit again. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

This place looks better from the highway than it does up close. Everyone was crammed on top of one another in a series of side-by-side sites. It rained while we were there and our site was flooded when we awoke. Another camper had his truck stuck in the mud as he tried to back in to one of the "higher" sites. WiFi did not work from our site or from the office area. I am not sure we'd go back again. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
Staff were very unprofessional , restrooms poorly cleaned . On several occasions both male and female were using same facilities . Poor site drainage and little if any concern by staff as to water on sites . No attempts to assist in finding better site. Very high prices in store. WiFi not available as stated. This was the worst run campsite I have been in in over 30 years of camping . I realize there was little could be done about the weather but the owners/staff showed NO consideration for the state of their guests . No attempt to open the rec center for rained out campers. Wouldn't stay here again. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
Overall great park for visiting the Cabot trail. With that said the only two reasons I didn't give it a ten was the lack of enforcement of the in park speed limit, it was the same vehicles flying in repeatably, as well as others, and some even while the office staff was sitting outside the office! When I said something to the office help it was shrugged off as what are you going to do? The second reason is the laundry..first no option of hot water wash only cold available and the price, it's the highest we've encountered anywhere across North America in five years of full-timing! Except for those two items it's a great place to stay. We camped here in a Motorhome.
An above average park with a nice location; however park drains badly and we almost got stranded in mud. Good electricity; however and 50 amp is a nice change in Nova Scotia. Close to the Cabot Trail a major plus and the quaint town of Baddeck. We camped here in a Motorhome.
