This review pertains specifically to registration and cancellation as opposed to actually staying at Wayside. On August 13th, I talked with the staff and made reservations for two nights, September 10th and 11th. He requested our credit card number "only to confirm" the reservation. On September 8th in person, my husband and I stopped in and said, "because we have had time to already see the area we would be leaving Nova Scotia early and would need to cancel our reservation". He asked, "where are you staying now and said it was a party park". replied, we hadn't noticed because we were gone most of the time. He said, "well you should have stayed with us". He was more concerned about where we had been staying than the need to cancel. He insisted on charging us for one of the two nights regardless of the fact we notified him two days in advance of the cancellation. We have stayed in many parks and have never been treated with such disrespect. I wouldn't recommend staying at Wayside under any circumstances. There are many other nice parks in the area. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
When the wife made reservations she asked for a 85 ft. pull thru with 50 AMP. Was told no problem. Got there and was put in a back in with 50 AMP. Good thing because the pull thrus are to small for "Big Rigs". We were in site #149. Stayed 10 days/nights. Easy in and out of the site #149 with our HDT and 35 ft trailer. Can wash your RV here. There is a road that runs along side, but it's quiet in the evenings and nights, except once in a while a motorcycle that needs new quieter pipes may go by. Wasn't able to get the "free" Wi-Fi at the trailer but they do have a hot spot by the office. Our electric was fine, but as the other poster says, the water pressure is low. I do agree with that statement. The restrooms by the office are nasty. Never checked out the showers, used our own. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
Nice wooded park across the road from the bay. With Passport America, it was $15US for full 30 amp hookups. $5CN extra for 50 amp. Large, clean laundromat. Very low water pressure and fluctuating electric voltage (110-134 VAC) at our site. Very pleasant owner. Free WiFi that reached most of the park. Beautiful coastal area, just a few miles from Peggy's Cove. We camped here in a Motorhome.
As far as campgrounds go in this area, it was a nice park. Owner very friendly and helpful. Close to Halifax and Peggy's Cove. Stayed here for 6 days. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
Some shaded sites. All sites are really close together. Few restrooms, and then porta potties. Restrooms have concrete floors, plywood stalls and were dirty and smelly. Showers are private, but have no ceiling so you look up into the eaves of the building to all the bugs, spider webs etc... Trash containers were overflowing. Sewage odor was noticeable throughout the park. We stayed one night and left, without a refund. We camped here in a Tent Trailer.
