Most of the campers at Lake Snowden are "extended stay" and many spend the entire summer at the lake. Sites are available on a daily, weekly, monthly, and even a seasonal basis. One big draw for campers is the Ohio Pawpaw Festival that is held every year. It is a fun, family festival with bands, kids activities, and heck they even sell Pawpaw beer for mom and dad! The people are so mellow and fun here, it is a great time. The campground always seems quiet, even during the Pawpaw festival. The campers are respectful and adhere to the rules and curfews. This is a place to go if you have a boat. The lake is very pretty for the paddler, and the fishing is fun for the angler. The grounds are kept up well, and there are stores and gas stations close by. It is very close to Athens, Ohio and the historic Ohio University campus. A short drive to Athens will give you night on the town or a day full of fun at a relaxed and quaint college town From the web site: "Campsites are divided into 4 areas. The Locust Grove is ideal for those wanting to use the horse trails. Big Oak camp has some lakefront sites and is close to the play area. Hickory Camp is close to the camp shelter house and off the beaten path. Hilltop Camp offers sites on the hilltop with hot showers and flush toilets (vault toilets are located in the other camps). Lake Snowden is a 675 acre education and recreation park, featuring the largest of four lakes which form the Margaret Creek Conservancy District. The lake covers approximately 136 acres offering camping, boating, fishing, picnicking and swimming. The serene setting reveals natural beauty while maintaining the convenience of being just 5 miles from Athens, Ohio. The shelter houses, restroom facilities, beach, shoreline fishing holes, and fish hatchery make Lake Snowden a full-featured recreation park." We camped here in a Tent.
