Best beach in on Lake Ontario -- really. City campground, office staff was very nice to us. Not the cheapest place we stayed at, but our RV was literally less than 10ft from the beach, and a huge very clean swimming area. WOW. Nice place. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Over the summer we stayed at Victoria Park Campground. This was our second visit to this lake front campground. There is an amazing view of the lake and beach and lots to do in downtown Cobourg. Unfortunately, they cram the campsites too close together trying to make all the money they can. Our RV awning was touching another campers RV. When you walk through the oval shaped campgrounds all you see is campers jam packed together. One of the seasonal people told us they did this to get more people in. It didn’t used to be so jammed. They didn’t have enough staff to keep the washrooms clean. We found them to be dirty most of our stay both times. They don’t check on the campers often so strange people are hanging around at all hours of the night. Make sure you don’t travel alone. For the amount you pay, and the little service you get, I don’t recommend this park. We tried it twice and don’t think we will be coming back. They also have a lousy reservation system for the Canada Day long weekend. Forcing campers to wait all night in a line up. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
Primarily a seasonal situation, with most guests living in Cobourg and using it as a cottage. In mid-week July there were only 3 sites available and they gave us a 'larger one.' Packed in like sardines with barely enough room to deploy the awnings; however, most sites were well maintained with very little junk. Beautiful beach! Do NOT come here for peace and quiet: there's a loud diesel unit that combs the beach from 6:00 until 7:00 am, some construction vehicles with loud backup beepers from 7:00 until noon and lawn cutting for a few hours each day. Nightly trains close by, but at least they don't use their horns. The rate shown (plus tax) was for a 3-way hookup, no cable and add an extra $10 a day for WIFI (in this day and age when it's free in most CGs, coffee houses and airports.) Didn't try it, can't comment on quality. All that said, it's within walking distance to a pretty village with lots of nifty shops. A good destination for a few nights. We camped here in a Motorhome.
