This is a really cute park catering to families. The owners of the park are some of the nicest people you could ever meet and do everything possible to make your stay a memorable one. The park is of older vintage which restricts larger units from entering. Many low hanging limbs and electrical lines prohibit access to the transient area of the park. One of the many attractions of this park are the structured activities that are endless. They offered complimentary pizza on Saturday night and followed that with a dance for kids until 11:00 pm. The overall condition of the park was clean and tidy and in good condition. We camped here in a Motorhome.

We have been staying at this campground a couple weekends a year for several years now and find the people very friendly. There is plenty of activities both at the campground as well as nearby. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

We arrived at Camper's Cove hours after picking up our first trailer at the RV dealer. As it was dark we were escorted to our site (nice touch!) #247. The site was a good size and was grassy and treed. The best thing was that it was right across from a playground! Priceless for the parents of a 4 and 6 year old! We found out the next day that this was only 1 of the playgrounds in the CG. Having camped at CGs that had only one playground that was usually located by the park entrance or heavy park traffic this was a nice surprise. The CG does not have a pool (a plus in my book as they are usually too loud and crowded and we have one at home anyway). Instead of a pool it has 1200 ft of beach on Lake Erie. We spent Sunday at the beach and felt like we were a million miles away from home. There is a Nature Trail by one of the playgrounds that the kids and I had a blast exploring. The monarch butterflies were out in full force due to the proximity to Point Pelee and the kids had a blast trying to catch them with their butterfly nets. On the Saturday night they served free Chili and Hot dogs and then in the evening they had a country band playing in the pavilion. All in all they have really set the bar for camping in the area. I've been looking for CGs for the Thanksgiving weekend in October and I'm having a hard time finding one that measures up since camper's cove is now closed for the season. We are already booked there for 2 weekends next year and I'm sure we'll fit in a few more. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

Wheatley is a tidy, well-maintained 600 acre provincial park divided into four main campgrounds. We started out this summer camping in the Highlands where the lots are generally spacious, private, grassy, with little shade. The roads are very good. Many sites have 30 amp power pedestals, and there are water taps throughout the park (but not at each site). We now camp in more woodsy radio-free Boosey Creek where the sites are non-powered and more popular with quiet tent campers. Enforcement is handled by MNR conservation officers and security guards who are highly visible and do frequent mobile and foot patrols. They nip problems in the bud and generally don't wait for the phone to ring first. Each campground has its own comfort station with clean toilets and showers. Some comfort stations have a laundromat. There are also vault toilets and port-johns throughout the park. If you forget something, the camp store in the main office will probably have it. While they don't have everything from soup to nuts, they do have things like can openers, firewood, books, sweaters, snack food, etc. All the basics. The mile long beach has some sheltered picnic areas and a beautiful vista of the lake. Our experiences at Wheatley have been generally very positive - not perfect, but if there is a problem the staff is there for you and takes care of it. We go back almost every weekend and always look forward to it. We camped here in a Tent Trailer.
