What a little gem of a park! We stayed here two nights as part of our 101 experience. We were looking to stay as close to "on the beach" as we could and we definitely got it with this state park. The ocean was less than 50 yards from our campsite. Although: the downside is that not all of the sites are ocean view and you have to book early to get the "view" sites. Even then, not all of them on the ocean side are "view" sites. They have brush and trees obstructing the ocean view in between the campsites and ocean. We were lucky enough to be in one of the 3 sites with an unobstructed view. The only other downside was there is a fence maybe 3 and a half feet tall all along the ocean side sites, so you can't just walk right out from your site to the ocean. But, there were paths to the ocean easily accessible and very close by. Just the sound of the waves and the fresh air all within feet were so worth staying at this park! The bathrooms were clean and it is a very small park, so you didn't feel like you were right on top of each other. They do not have a dumping station at this park, so we had to continue on and dump at the next campground. Overall we loved this park and it made our ocean experience perfect! The kids loved playing on the beach and we were within 20 minutes of Newport, which had an excellent aquarium and many other things to check out. As for the beach, it is long and flat with really no rocks or anything much to see. Just lots of beach and water! We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

This is a very low end park, and appears that it hasn't had anything put into it for some time. The bathrooms and showers would have been marginal except for the risk of falling through the floor. There were seasonal (or permanent) campers for the most part, and a few of these units will never see the road again. The price we paid reflected the Passport America discount; we would otherwise not have found the place. It was OK for an overnight, but not for anything longer. There were plenty of other overnight sites, albeit at higher prices. Our Verizon air card worked well at this location; there is no park Wi-Fi. We camped here in a Motorhome.

We parked here with our windshield hanging directly over the Alsea Bay. By providing hook-ups on BOTH sides of the sites, they allow not only back-in parking, but nose-in as well. This allows both RVs and 5th wheels to park with the fantastic view filling the windshield. In nearly 7 years of full-time RVing, we have never seen an RV park quite like this... and we mean that in the very best way. Instead of just providing paved streets, or paved patios, or paved parking pads, this park has all three... in brand new solid concrete. That may sound cold at first, but the effect of having everything being concrete (with nice plantings between and around the sites) it that everything is immaculately clean. The bay here supposedly has some of the best Dungeness crabbing in Oregon, and judging by the number of people hauling in large catches, it must be the case. The park rents out motorboats, and also has a launch ramp for people who bring their own boats with them. There's also a large gift shop and convenience store, brand new bathrooms (with granite showers) and the newest, cleanest, most beautiful laundry room we've ever seen anywhere. This is a top-notch stop on the Oregon coast. We camped here in a Motorhome.

Liked the park. Easy in and out and girl in office very nice and helpful. Park is not finished so there were no showers yet, but being built. The cement sites and road into park were good, but the gravel in front of the office was deep, and noisy. The one bathroom between where the showers were going to be was used by a lot of tenter and dry campers, so it was hard to keep clean but was OK. The bathroom in the laundry area was clean, but no mirror. Would stay here again when in area and sure the place is improving all the time. We camped here in a Motorhome.

Quite a place for the Forest Service. Too bad the rates have gone up to $25 for W&E; $20 for dry camps sites. The nearby state park may be a better deal since they have showers but this is a wonderful USFS campground, right on the ocean, with trees to hide in at many of the sites. The parallel parking sites are right on the bluff overlooking the ocean, but if you need slides, that's probably not going to work. There are a couple of fairly large rigs tucked away here but as the previous comments said, this is more of a small rig/ camper/ tenting campground. Access to beach is very close and easy so this must be a popular spot in the summer. Worth stopping if you can fit in. Non- summer is a good time too. We camped here in a Motorhome.

I made reservations months in advance to assure I would get a campsite on the ocean. Well, our campsite was on the ocean, but we were disappointed to see how small it was and thus we were unable to stay in it and instead got a site off in the trees away from the ocean. It stated that it was a pull thru, and that it was 38', but it was really only a parallel parking space, with no room for any overhang and our slide out would have been in the street. The way it was set up, our 28'fifth wheel would just barely fit and we wouldn't have been able to open the door. I only saw two sites that could accomodate anything over 25 feet or with a slide out. The website misrepresented the size of the sites. If you have a small rig, this is a spectacular park right on the ocean with a view unsurpassed by any other park I have been to, but too bad bigger rigs can't enjoy it too. We camped here in a Motorhome.

For a Forest Service campground, this is a highly desirable place. Most of the sites are not designed for anything over 30 feet. But there are a few that can accommodate large rigs if you're good at parking and don't mind putting your tow car in the extra vehicle lot. If you have a high rig, when you leave, you have to watch the trees overhead. Many sites put you overlooking the beach. Step out the door, down a small hill and you're on the sand. Some sites have electric and water, but most are designed for smaller rigs. None of the ocean front sites have electricity, but several RVs parked in these spots ran generators. This place requires reservations in the summers. I'd go here again. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

We had a nice spot with view of Alsea Bay and Bridge. We spent 5 nights there, and had an enjoyable time. The park staff were very friendly. The spaces were very close together but after all it is a KOA. We will return. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

The staff were friendly and helpful. However, there were NOT enough washrooms/showers for the 88 sites (only 8 stalls). The showers and washrooms weren't filthy, but could be cleaner. Floors were full of sand, and the toilet covers were a bit dirty. Overall OK, considering it's still a campsite. The dish washing sink was a nice touch. The campsite is in need of more trees. There was not enough privacy; the picnic tables in front of cabins were in open, no privacy at all. The beach was a joke... not a nice one. Overall, not that impressed with KOA on our very first visit, considering it's supposed to be a premium camp site. We camped here in a Campground Cabin.

We stayed at this campground for two nights while visiting the Oregon Coast. Very nice, quiet campground with a great playground for the kids. Gravel sites - some with views. Nice store. Small laundry facility but reasonably priced. Everything stays damp because of the coastal weather so beware. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
