Never again! Terrible. In the rear parking lot of a firehouse. Siren went off about once an hour all night. Nearby train whistle all day and all night. To get there, the roads were narrow and twisty. Lots of workers (linemen, oil workers, etc.) with their families. Semi-permanent. We camped here in a Motorhome.
The campground is about eight miles from I-79 through the rolling hills of PA, not a problem getting there but it is not your typical highway campground. The park is located behind and run by the local volunteer fire department and staying here helps support the fire department. Our site was near the end of the lot and slopped some. The loose gravel. slope, and recent rains made it difficult to level but we made do, as it was simply an overnight stop for us. Some sites are paved and more level, there are even some pull-thru sites. There are no facilities or activities as this is a simply an area to park your RV. Many of the sites had long-term residents who are working in the area. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
We were traveling at night and needed a place to stay and shower, we stopped at the PA Welcome center on I-70 and grabbed some brochures. They were the only answer we got (at 9pm) so we headed there. We were so happy we ended up staying 2 extra nights. The fireman who manages the place is incredibly friendly and extremely helpful. He met us at the front at 11pm and took us back and let us pick a spot. He mentioned that if they had been full, he would have parked me in front of the firehouse and ran power and electric to my trailer. The bathrooms and shower house was pretty new and very clean. They had laundry facilities but we didn't use them as we only stayed for a few nights. Sites were level, water pressure was great and it was so quiet and comfortable there it was a treat. The only potential down side to note is we had no phone service back there, and had to go out to the road to make or receive calls. We will definitely stay here again, they have a monthly rate that is extremely reasonable. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
Great moneymaker for volunteer fire dept (back parking lot). Sites are gravel, fairly level, good water. WiFi is new, and manager not certain how it works yet. TV and WiFi are at no extra charge. Mostly long-termers; gas-field workers, etc. Quiet, comfortable, safe. Clean restrooms/showers. Good for overnight or short-term stay. Ten minutes from I-79. Manager less than half a mile away; very responsive. Bridge on Rt 188 is out for several months, but can get there via Rt 21-Haverhill Rd-Pine St, turn right on Jefferson Rd. Will stay here again. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
This is just a field behind the local firehouse. It sits right next to a cemetary. There is not a shower house that I know of. No one at the campground on a regular basis to run it, just firemen that stop by. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
