The managers of this park have been steadily improving the park since they purchased it twelve years ago. It is primarily a family-oriented permanent site park, but has a few transient sites available. The entrance to the park is a somewhat rough and narrow road and the park is adjacent to a federal prison, but once inside provides a comfortable, if rustic, setting. Our full-hookup site provided 50-amp electricity and easy satellite TV access. The campground Wi-Fi worked well. The full time tenants in the campground generally maintain their sites well and were friendly to visitors. We were there for a holiday weekend and were impressed by the good behavior of the many young people who were there. We camped here in a Motorhome.

The owners of this campground would go out of their way to help with just about anything. The sites are tight and there are many seasonal folks. It is right next to a federal prison but we felt very safe here. Quiet at night. We could not get one of the sites with sewer, so the owner would come and empty our holding tanks when asked. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

FRIENDLY! Seasonal campground, and really nice. Heated pool (82 degrees), picnic / party pavilion / plenty of grassy areas for kids to play, playground, clean restrooms/showers, hardwood shade throughout the park, activities e.g. tag-sales and parties. Plenty of seasonal campers - folks escaping the sweltering south. One guy rides herd on this re-managed / re-stored campground, while another keeps the grass neat and tidy. The office lady runs the office/store with a great smile and an iron fist, and the do-what-needs-done guy is just across the gravel street (and invites newcomers for a BS session over a cold Froshingschlosh). The rules and guidelines are reasonable, and enforced - it's quiet and peaceful after 2200 hrs. The manager is getting the place back on its feet - and doing a great job. Some folks may be put-off by the bumpy gravel road coming into the site, or the many of the electric/water-only hookups (with a pump-out when needed) for most of the sites, but the grass-everywhere sites, nice people, cool weather (warm pool), and great facilities were just right for us. Kane (15-18 miles away) is a nice little town in which to spend an afternoon (check out the Texi-Hot - been there for decades, and Bells Market - outstanding Leek-Loaf, Leek Sausage, and Leek Dip), Smethport is the "quaint" little town, the Kinzua RR Bridge is not to be missed, and Bradford has the usual big-box stores. If you have a motorcycle, be prepared to spend weeks on the by-ways...state parks, Kinzua dam and lake, museums, bars, and ice-cream stops. This is the Pennsylvania "outback" at its finest! We WILL be back to see the gang at Idlewood! We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
