Went to Lake-in-Wood on Columbus Day weekend with my wife and two kids. Positives: paved roads, beautiful landscaping, numerous activities, great site (121...nice one!), modern and clean bathrooms, fun playground, indoor pool and spa, great places to walk within and just outside of the campground, good staff. Best of all it was Christmas Weekend. They REALLY went all out. Caroling, outdoor decorations, the hall was super decked out for Christmas, many campers went all out and decorated sites, hay and/or trolly rides around the campground, character visits including the big guy, gifts for the kids, home made cookies/punch. Just a really great job – can't say enough about it. Negatives: Not many...really. To nitpick – they charged us $1 to use the shuffleboard equipment. Cannot figure out for the life of me why that would be – I had to go back to the camper to get a buck. Firewood they sold was too new/wet to burn well. Internet was very weak during peak times – could not get signed on. Strengthened after many people left on Sunday. Do watch the kids as some drivers go too fast on the roads. Anyway we had a terrific weekend and are making plans to go back again next year on the same weekend. Great way to end the season! Definitely recommended. We camped here in a Motorhome.

Very nice park and well-maintained. Bath houses were spotless and lawns were kept manicured. This is a great park for families with kids. Lots to do, activities, mini golf, playground, pool and a lake to fish, etc. If you're there to visit the area be aware that everything is about a 30 minute drive away from the campground at a minimum. As others have stated the initial entry into the campground is horrendous. We arrived in a 40' motor home with a toad and pretty much blocked everything while I hurried to check us in to get through the gate! Bad set up. Our site was long and wide enough, we did hear the quarry somewhat during the week and the speedway over the weekend, but nothing real noticeable. We camped here to visit with relatives and that would be the only reason we return; just not our cup of tea. We camped here in a Motorhome.

We had made our reservations in February, as we would be meeting other family members coming from Connecticut. Even in February, it took several calls to get our sites together. Sites had to be paid in full at time of registration. Upon arriving, we encounter an access gate about 1/2 way into the parking lot, with cars parked on each side. A sign telling you not to block the gate while registering. So we pulled to the side. With our 35 ft trailer and Crew cab truck, this blocked several cars. If your going to be out after 9 PM, they will issue you an access card, otherwise, you just show your registration paperwork and someone in the office will open the gate for you. They do offer "Late arrival Hookups" on each side of the gate, yet I'm not sure how you would get on the other side of the gate after hours if no one is in the office? While this campground does offer a Good Sam discount, I was informed they only honor it Sunday - Thursday as they are not a Good Sam Park. Pulling around to our site, we passed a trash dumpster with a sign, "Kitchen Trash Only - Your On Camera". We had a back-in site in the woods and it took several attempts to get in our spot due to large rocks that line the streets. No on-site trash pick up. Looked for recycling bins, and only found two the size of regular trash cans. For a campground of 350+ sites, you would expect better recycling options. The campground offers several activities, but no weekend timeline was provided with check in. I can't comment on the restrooms as we did not use them. They offer cable TV, but when I scanned channels, several of them came in so snowy, it was like using the old fashion rabbit ears. My sisters camping on a site near by experienced the same condition. If arriving from the PA turnpike, fuel up after you exit. There are no gas stations along the route leading into the campground. Campground is big, so plenty of golf carts cruising around. On my last day, I found out that free coffee and newspaper are offered each morning in the Cafe..Little late... We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

This is our first visit to the campground. We were camping with friends. The sites we were given were perfect and two of the better sites. They were in the D area. There is a staff member greeting you upon check-in, and you are escorted to your site. The sites are level and nicely separated. There are golf carts for rental. If you up on the mountain, I would reserve on upon registration. It's a steep hike down to the store. Even for the off season, there were many activities to keep everyone busy. Staff is friendly and all the seasonals we encountered were friendly. It was quite chilly, so not too many people were out and about on Saturday. There are three playgrounds and plenty of bathhouses. There is a small pond for fishing and a nice stream. The pool has several water slides, but, obviously, they were closed this time of year. We will most likely return. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
