Truly one of the very best campgrounds we have stayed in, after many years of exploring the US and Canada. Great sites for RV's, tents and cabins. Very clean. Hosts on site and their pride of ownership really shows. Central to all PEI. Hosts exceptionally friendly and helpful. Can you add +++ to the 10 rating? Don't miss this one! We camped here in a Motorhome.
This was our first trip to PEI, so all we had to go by were the reviews submitted here and on RV.Net. This campground was beautiful. The owners went out of their way to make us feel at home and were extremely helpful in resolving a mechanical issue with my rig. The campground is spotless, quiet but not to the point that children couldn't have fun. I will stay there again in the future without hesitation. Since it's centrally located on PEI, every tourist local is an easy drive. The campground is small so reservations are a must! We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
This is a beautiful park centrally located on the island. The owners are on site and take great pride in their resort. They even have discount passes to local attractions and parks. I would have given it a 10 except the electrical voltage dropped significantly when microwave and or hot water heater kicked on. Even though it was August when we were there I don't think we ran the air conditioner. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
This campground is visually stunning. The owners, live on-site. They are the friendliest and most helpful hosts that you will ever meet. They have built this campground themselves; thoughtful planning and hard work have been put into it and it shows. Sites are quite large, whether a cabin site or a RV or tent site, and maximum use of trees and shrubs maintains privacy for each site. All have fire rings and picnic tables. The washrooms are spotless. There is a nice swimming pool, and a lodge where campers may retreat to on rainy days or otherwise. It contains a seating area with a wood-burning fireplace, a television, a kitchen facility, and books, puzzles and games to keep everyone busy. The campground is a good base camp for exploring Prince Edward Island National Park, with its high sand dunes and long beaches for walking and bird-watching, the Anne of Green Gables House and other attractions. We traveled on the shoulder season and had no difficulty obtaining a site, but I would think that reservations during the high summer season would be practically mandatory. We only wish we could have stayed longer. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
We have visited New Glasgow Highlands Camp Cabins/Camping twice. The campsites are large and very private. If you like campsites with lots of shade, and well away from other campsites, you will love this place, I cannot think of one complaint I would have, from the booking of the reservation through to the end of our stay. The washrooms are cleaned continuously throughout the day and come complete with fresh cut wildflowers! The owners, Les and Marlene, live on the property and are very friendly and helpful. The first time we camped there (in our tent) we arrived in the rain, instead of having to set up camp for the night, Les and Marlene let us use one of the camping cabins. While there are no rules out of the ordinary, they do take their rules seriously and Les usually comes around the campground around 11pm to ensure you've put on your last firelog. Because there are not alot of campsites and cabins, this helps to create its quiet, family atmosphere. While there are no planned activities or "arcades" at the campground it is close to most of the major atractions in PEI (particularly "Anne's Land" and Cavendish Beach and Loster Feasts). There is a very nice building complete with stove, toaster etc... which is nice on a rainy day, as well as fireplace, books, puzzles and some children's toys. If you like smaller campgrounds, with large, private campsites, you can't go wrong at the Highlands. We camped here in a Tent.
