This stay was in the rustic log cabin on Pilot Knob. This cabin is a hidden gem. It is very secluded with a panoramic view of the Tennessee River and Kentucky Lake. It has a wood burning fireplace. Very clean. Tons of hiking trails and a river life and civil war museum are right out the back door. We have stayed in the RV campground here before, and it is a nice, peaceful place to camp as well. The park is clean and neat. Bring plenty to eat and whatever supplies you need, it is about 10 miles back to town if you forget anything. We camped here in a Campground Cabin.
We only stayed one night while traveling through the area. The campground area with water and electric is in dire need of repair and upkeep. The sites are very narrow, very uneven and the macadam surfaces at some sites are badly broken or uneven. Our unit is 36' long, and an inexperienced driver may have difficulty getting into the sites. The grass needed to be cut, some sites have never been cleaned from the fall and winter and it just appears as if someone had forgotten about this area of the campground. The setting is beautiful, with many trees and woods, so it is sad that it is so neglected. There was no one else there, so obviously it was very quiet. Good place for a one night stay when traveling. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
We've camped here several times, and it's a beautiful area. There's lots of nature and you can expect to see deer, wild turkey, etc. Very quiet, and during the week there are usually very few campers. We've been there with only one or two others in the entire campground. It's located with easy access to the TN River/Kentucky Lake if you want to fish, etc. There's also a lot of Civil War history in the area. Very clean, and friendly. We definitely recommend this as a "get away" trip. It's only 6 miles from Camden, TN. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Park was having serious voltage issues. Our RV club was there for 3 nights and no one could run their A/C or refer on electric. The weather was unbearable. The campground itself was shaded and very scenic. When leaving the dump station was full resulting in over-flow of sewage everywhere. Would not return unless we are reassured these problems have been addressed. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
