We had no problem getting in or out with our 25' trailer. The park host was very nice. He even let us move sites after we had set up and then found another that we liked better (#10). This site was on the river and was absolutely beautiful. There is a lot of construction going on in the area, making getting to the campground a little tough. The river can be too fast for swimming when they are releasing water from the dam, but boating is fine. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

I was not going to re-review Long Branch ( COE ) campground but changed my mind when I came within 4 inches of tearing up the passenger side if our motorhome when attempting to exit this campground with our auto hooked up and in tow. Our attempted exit was so precarious that we blocked the exit and entrance to the campground until we had disconnected the auto and then carefully backed up. This is apparently not a new issue as the camp host came out and make a comment to the effect that he’d like to take a chain saw to this section of low lying fence. That said, be careful entering and exiting this COE park and hopefully whoever is in charge of this campground will seriously look into this issue. Other than that, the sites are spacious – water and electric only with a dump site near the host site. They have a nice kids playground and the Caney Fork river at the foot of the dam offers trout fishing. Our site #11 did not allow us to connect with our rooftop satellite dish – a fact that was lost on the host. We had a very weak cell phone connection. Other than that it is a good park with a price break for seniors. Our inexpensive camping fee could have run in the thousands of dollars to repair the rig had we scraped this fence. We camped here in a Motorhome.

Long Branch COE Campground was one of the most difficult destinations to find because the Tennessee DOT signs on I-40 ( west ) directed to use an exit not initially recommended by our GPS. We ended up miles west of the best campground exit and this put us on SR 141 - a tight windy road nightmare of a road. . If you read this review, take exit 268/ Cordell Hull Dam and ignore the DOT signs. The very cordial/helpful camp host said these signs are long overdue for removal and it’s a 5 miletrip from I-40 to the CG. Once at the campground we found everything to our liking. The on the river sites are $24( $12 w/ Golden Age ) and the inland sites are $12/10. The sites are level gravel with grass between. Not every site offers 50 amp so if you need it make a reservation. Below the Cordell Hull Dam there is fishing for trout on the Caney Fork River. Browns, Rainbow and Brook Trout with a limit of one per day if they are over 24 inches. The bathhouse was more than adequate and spotless. In addition to fishing and boating on the river ( or the lake above the dam ) there is a playground for the kids. If there is a down side, the campground is not close to restaurants or shopping unless you consider a 10 mile drive to be close. If you can be self contained for a week and like peaceful country living, then you’ll enjoy this place. We would come here again for a 3-4 day stay, but not for a one night stopover. We camped here in a Motorhome.
