Nice clean campground on the lake. Only down side was that it is 30 miles to town. There is a marina and camp store on site. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
Plenty of cedar trees that, if not the prettiest tree, still provide shade. And the kids loved hiking up the "mountain." The premium sites are suggested for vehicles over 20', but we were able to fit our 31' FW in the non-premium sites and liked the scenery much better. We hiked, biked, boated, and a nondenominational ministry group had games for the kids one afternoon. We've already reserved for next year. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
This was our very first experience at camping in a State Park. We have already made reservations to return in July. The staff was wonderful, the store owners very friendly and accommodating. Our campsite (#13) was shady, level, free from fireants, waterfront, and just a great experience all around. We hiked two days of the three that we stayed. Restrooms were very clean with hot showers. We will be staying here often. We camped here in a Tent Trailer.
My kids loved this place! There's hiking trails, a nice camp store, boat rentals and great fishing from the bank. Our site was somewhat difficult to get into. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
We enjoyed our visit here. This lake is in a swamp type area with moss on the trees and plenty to see. We had a great time and the park has been recently renovated. Unfortunately it was 100+ degrees, so we did not get to spend much outdoor time in the afternoon. There is a tour boat at the park that tours at 10am, 12pm , 2pm and 4pm for $15 per adult and $13 for children. This is the 4th state park we have visited in the last 6 weeks and have yet to be dissapointed. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
This is a typical state park that is in need of work. Several sites are unlevel and no water for several hours due to a leak in a pipe that became a flood, causing it to be shut off. Someone would leave the water running in the shower, causing there to be no hot water. Even though it was very warm the week-end we were there, the evenings got cool and warm water, not even hot, would have been great. The water tasted bad, so be sure and bring lots of drinking water. But still we had a good time, and the scenery was great. Diesel users be sure and fill up in Mineral Wells or Weatherford before going to the park, I made it back on fumes. We would go back. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
