We had a very pleasant stay here. Management is very helpful and courteous. In Texas you are not allowed to carry an unconcealed weapon unless you are a police officer of some sort, so I question the earlier statement that he wore it on his hip. We've stayed there a few times and it has always been a positive experience. We camped here in a Motorhome.

We stayed here in August on our way to and from Galveston, TX. My husband and I, with our two dogs were caravanning with my sister, her husband, and their five little dogs. The owner/manager is a friendly fellow that seemed happy to see us. He came out of the office to greet us when we arrived. He led us to our sites and gave us his cell phone number just in case we needed anything. He was wearing a rather large pistol on his hip and said that he would be patrolling the park several times in the night, and that we should not be concerned if we saw a spot light. He told us that his park was the only one in the area that had not been robbed or vandalized in the past ten years. We had an uneventful and quiet night. We did not see his spot light. The interior roads are a bit bumpy, but not bad. The sites are not level but they are not that far off either, at least the sites we occupied. As far as we could tell, all the sites were dirt. We had two full hookup sites on the last row, across from the pond. I marked the lake front water sites because there was not the option of pond on the review form. We did not see a play area for children, but children are welcome. Woodall's says the sites are grassy, but they are not. It is grassy around the pond and that grass was maintained. Bring your own ant spray, because there are a lot of ants. We had to spray around the sewer connection just to be able to hook it up. We also had to spray in front of the camper door before we could put out the rug. There were many mosquitoes, but we expected that because of the pond. Even though this is not a particularly pretty park and I would not want to spend a week here, I gave it a six rating because it is a good place to spend the night. It was quiet, and the manager/owner was so friendly and helpful. We will be making a trip to Galveston next summer and will be stopping at the Country Pines RV Park for the night. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

The park host is the only thing this place has going for it. He allowed us to change sites due to problems, and willingly gave us a refund when we had to depart early due to death in the family. The 50a "big rig pull throughs" are end to end and share hookups between narrow sites on what appears to have originally been the gravel parking area. After other rigs arrived around us, our Surge Guard repeatedly disconnected power all night due to voltage problems, even when we were not running anything but a few lights and TV. Even the street light on the pole with the breaker box often dimmed and sometimes went out entirely, later coming back on. After testing the 50a outlet and finding irregular readings, I used the adapter to connect to the 30a outlet. It didn't work much better, but I stayed with it rather than the 50a that appeared to have an open neutral. The next morning after the rigs around us left, the power was fine until around noon when our Surge Guard again disconnected. I tested the 30a plug and found high voltage. I checked other outlets around us and found some with the same irregular readings, and some that tested normal. I used a 30a extension to connect to the outlet immediately behind us that tested normal. It was wired to a different breaker box. It worked fine all afternoon, so I asked the camp host if I could back up and change sites, and he said go ahead. He did admit to having a problem once on one of the other sites on the same circuit we had been on, and said he would tell the manager when he dropped by later. When I talked with him that evening, he said he told the manager, but "he didn't seem very interested in hearing about any problem with those outlets because he had someone come out and check them out about 6 mo ago." Add to their other issues a manager who doesn't care about a potentially dangerous electrical situation, and this is a park to avoid. Added "charm" is the constant 24hr noise from US 59 and railroad across the highway, did not answer email prior to arrival, did not answer phone as park host is in own rig rather than in clubhouse, and stray dogs from the surround area leave "deposits" around sites. In spite of the nice host, we won't return. We camped here in a Motorhome.

This is a mom & pop park as the name says. Mom & Pop live next door. It is a good overnight park. It is easy access right on US-59. The railroad track is across the highway, so be aware there will be train & highway noise. Sites are gravel, level & easy to get in to. Most are side by side hookups. Roads are gravel & of adequate width. There are a few trees but they cause no problem. Visual appeal is average. We were there twice in 2004 and would go back again if in the area. We would NOT go down the highway to Country Pines RV Park. We have heard from several sources about the man with the pistol. We camped here in a Motorhome.
