This could be a nice park. The sites are above the lake, but it's so low that water sports are not allowed. It is gravel and a a tad rough around the edges. We were the only campers the night we stayed. From Silverton take TX 86 W 5 mi and TX 207 N 7 mi. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
This office and laundry were immaculately clean and decorated, host was very friendly, courteous and helpful. You will never beat this price. WI-FI was adequate!! Gravel sites. We were parked between the laundry and a rental cabin so our only side windows view were wooden walls, but it was very quiet. Eighteen miles to Cap Rock SP and well worth a visit, it is beautiful! We would stay here again if in the area price and cleanliness being a huge factor. We camped here in a Motorhome.
This park is located in a rural community on a paved county highway. There are very few parks within a fifty mile radius, apart from a state park. The park host was extremely helpful and friendly. Very nice person who goes the extra mile to make sure her guests are well settled and informed. Laundry room is virtually new and in excellent condition. Water, sewer, and electricity hook ups all worked fine. Minimal road noise in spite of the fact that we took a site in the front row nearest the highway. Sites are extremely long. Even the longest motorhome with a toad should have no issues here. Now for the bad news. Park roads are gravel and in OK condition but the individual sites are not paved…just soil. If it rains, which admittedly it rarely does in this part of Texas, one might find ones self in an awful mess. The entire park is as level as a pool table, with no sign of a tree or picnic table. There are no amenities of any kind apart from the laundry and restrooms. Although there were few park guests, they were all long term campers. The neighborhood and the town itself, although friendly, suffer from decline. In spite of these negatives we would happily return to this park. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
$13 a day reflects the weekly rate. $18 is regular, daily rate. Small, friendly, family run campground with pull- through sites, cabins, bathroom/showers and laundry facilities - all immaculate. Campground located in small, friendly town of Silverton. Negatives are there are no grocery stores in Silverton. It's located near Caprock State Park to the East and Lake McKenzie to the Northwest. Both areas are excellent day trips from this base camp. While in the area, make sure to visit the town square for the Briscoe County Jail Museum and war memorials. We would definitely stay here again if staying in the area. We camped here in a Motorhome.
New park, wonderful, Texas friendly welcome from receptionist (shook hands and volunteered her name), on the Texas Plains Trail with some unbelievable sights including the Palo Duro and Tule Canyons (2nd largest). Wide sites (50'), 36 pull throughs with full hookups. Park models, fully stocked including condiments (!), DirecTV, linens, etc. Being the only place for miles we were very happy with the reception here, the sites are level and huge, perfect for our big rig. We camped here in a Motorhome.
