We were a little apprehensive when we arrived at this campground as reservations are not site specific and they give you a colour-coded tag and ask you to go find your own site that corresponds to the colour. Turns out it was fine. We found a very nice site in the G loop that was very close to the beach. Be advised that sites are on the small side and the maneuvering is tight so big rigs might have a tough time. We were on the beach almost every day and walking on it every night. The campground AND beach are very dog-friendly. On the beach, if you're looking for waves, you won't find many. It's more like a very warm, salt-water lake. Views of dolphins, cargo ships, Navy vessels and helicopters were great fun! Privacy between sites is great. Our only complaint was the Wi-Fi. They have an Internet cafe area, but for eight days we couldn't connect with two phones or a laptop. The staff said that that the Wi-Fi was erratic and that some people were able to connect, but we never talked to anyone for which is was working. Normally, we wouldn't care much, but we were trying to sell our house while we were away. Luckily, MacDonalds is five minutes away with free Wi-Fi. We would camp there again in a heartbeat! We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

Really enjoyed our stay in this park. Sites were well spaced. Some paved, some gravel, some sand. Bathrooms were older but clean. Had a little trouble with WiFi at lounge but cell data worked just fine. Enjoyed biking and hiking in this park. Lots of trails just across the street in the main section of park. Regular patrols by park police, was a little cold and windy this trip so not sure what bugs will be like when warmer. Will definitely return. We camped here in a Motorhome.

We really enjoyed First Landing State Park. The campsites are nestled into ancient sand dunes among gnarled live oak trees. They are sufficiently separated from each other that you have some sense of privacy. There are beach access points in each of the loops with boardwalks across the dune ridges to a wide sloping beach. The beach is along the Chesapeake Bay so the water is shallow, without the surf you will find around the corner on Virginia Beach. In the distance you see ocean going cargo and Navy ships entering the Bay. The Trails part of the Park has quite a few well marked trails. The Bald Cypress Trail goes through a cypress swamp with Spanish Moss hanging from the trees. Quite unusual for Virginia. There is a wonderful Visitors Center in the Trails area. The Park also offers cute 2 bedroom cabins for rent in a pine forested area. Like the campsites, they are thoughtfully situated for privacy. We camped here in a Motorhome.

We had a great spot backed up to the woods. Even though the area got 7" of rain in two days, the drainage ditch behind our spot flooded, but the water never reached the tires of the 5th wheel. There was a wooden deck built all around, I suspect for this very reason. The park is very big, and mostly empty. The roads need some repairs. Wi-Fi was good. Sites were level, and dog poop stations throughout the park. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

This was the loudest campground we have ever been to. The sheer volume of campers that are there is just overboard. The rest rooms and showers are clean but there are not nearly enough showers, my wife, and 10-year-old daughter each had to wait over an hour and 1/2. The Wi-Fi was expensive and there was no fire ring at any sites I saw. I like to cook over the fire but that was not possible. They have quiet hours but those do not apply to the owner approving that the band can play well past it (11 PM) if they enjoy the music. Despite what other post indicate, we were there Monday through Wednesday and there were bands every night. We have young kids as did many campers and going well past 11 PM is unacceptable in a “family friendly” campground. . This was like camping in a city. We camped here in a Motorhome.

This is a huge campground in Virginia Beach. The sites are back-in and fairly level. Electric and water are good. Hookups are easily accessible. This campground gets heavy use and the staff work hard to keep it up but the use shows. All of the staff we dealt with were friendly. They get the price due to location. They had entertainment on Saturday night. Due to the price would look elsewhere. We camped here in a Motorhome.

This is a really nice membership park. We were able to use it through Coast-to-Coast, with the additional charge for 50 amp. The grounds are extremely neat and well cared for. The sites are concrete back-ins that have river access so you can tie a boat up at your site. The pool areas are clean and kept up. Power and water were as advertised and area was great for walking the dogs. They have an off-leash fenced area for the puppies as well. We would definitely stay here again. We camped here in a Motorhome.

Price reflects C2C membership. The staff in this campground was exceptional. We had several “out of the ordinary” issues that needed help and assistance—everyone was friendly and helpful. Good paved internal roads throughout. There is a security gate; you cannot enter campground without your cardkey or being let in by staff. Campground easily handles big rigs. Sites vary in size. Ours was very large because it backed up to the canal. There are concrete pads for the RV’s with ample gravel parking for 2 additional vehicles. Each site has a nice grass area with picnic table. Sites are all very level. Multiple nice pool areas, additional shower and bathroom facilities. Management does a very good job keeping campground nice; there were people working throughout on gardening and general maintenance. Good Verizon cell phone coverage and easy to get DirecTV satellite connection. We will definitely return. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

We stayed at this resort with friends that are members. Great setting with lots of on water sites. Staff rating has to be a 10. They were very friendly and helpful the entire stay. All sites were well maintained, level, and sufficient in size. Bath houses were dated but kept up clean and painted. They have 3 pools on site. Plenty of fishing and wild animal sightings. Great place and atmosphere for everyone. We highly recommend this resort and will return. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

An overall outstanding campground! Please disregard any and all old reviews for this website, because this campground has different management from a few years ago. My family and I were very impressed with the very clean, air conditioned bath house, very friendly staff, shaded lots, clean swimming pool and access to a small beach on the North Landing River, upper Currituck Sound. The campground is also a short ride to the Pungo Strawberry Festival. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

We called for reservations several months ahead and stayed during the off season. There were not that many campers there. The park is beautiful with a nice beach and great views. The onsite maintenance and office staff were very friendly and nice. It's off the beaten path but not that far. The only problems were the laundry was closed for renovations the entire 2 months we were there (the nearest coin laundry is 20 minutes away and very small), they had several campers with excessive barking dogs (I mean all day while the owners at work) even though they make you sign a separate pet form and the biggest issue is there is no onsite management. All questions require a phone call to an out of state manager. I had trouble getting answers to questions before we got there and during our stay all questions required a phone call. We did enjoy our stay and will come back. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

We love the location of this park, but it leaves a lot to be desired for safety and family atmosphere. No shortage of Rebel flags, drunks, loud music, crazy driving, golf carts everywhere. The roads are un-paved (very dusty), water hook ups are underground and are very dangerous (trip hazard) and hard to hook up and turn on. The beach was nice. Bath houses were serviced regularly but still dirty, and no soap in dispensers the entire stay. Staff was not helpful. We reserved a site well in advance and was changed upon arrival. We do not plan on visiting this campground again and would not recommend this campground to anyone. Hopefully they will improve this park as it does have a lot of potential. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

It has great beach access and the beach is very nice and natural. Easy access to the nature preserve and sites on the water. Sandbridge is a nice area. That's about it. The cable did not work, ants were bad, and we were told by some other residents that snakes come up out of the water frequently at night. The rates are inconsistent. The bar next door has LOUD bands til 1am. This is a trailer park with some vacant sites for rent. Plain and simple. It has all the look and feel of an 80's Florida trailer park and for that it's way too expensive. We camped here in a Motorhome.

Excellent staff and very accommodating! The property is located on the bay side and across the road to the oceanfront. Beaches are clean and not crowded. Several waterfront (bay) lots are available. The sites consist of a several park models in new to fair shape. The roads are paved and sites are concrete. Two pools and playground are well kept. WiFi was spotty but worked. You can expect some noise from the restaurant/bar next door til midnight on a Friday or Saturday nights. We camped here in a Motorhome.

I'm from Quebec Canada and we have been to a lot of campgrounds around the US from coast to coast. Unfortunately, this year for our 13 days of vacation we were a bit disappointed with this campground. To be clear, let say that the main reason is the price for what you get. It is a good spot to be near the beach, just a mile to walk, but for $96 we had other campground much nicer at lower price. The Wi-Fi was not good - I guess it depends where you are on the site. The bathrooms were just ok and could use a better maintenance. Nice people around and very friendly. Almost all the sites are owned and they are rented when not used, so each site have there own looks depending off the owner. Some are very beautiful, but others are so-so like the one we had 111. Finally, the correspondence with the management was not good. They never confirm your reservation and no confirmation by internet, so you hope that what they tell you on the phone will be what you get. We did, but it was not reassuring. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

Camped in a 35 foot 5th wheel. Site C 160 is easy access pull through, level, & narrow. Site is grass & sand. We were camped during a hard & long rain storm & a very large mud puddle formed at the foot of the rig stairs. Sewer is in rear of site & a rather long reach if rig is centered front to back on site & has a center sewer discharge opening. Site is adjacent to bath house & propane tank. There is a somewhat noisy air conditioner at the bath house that can be heard at site, & lights shine all night. WiFi access is good. Bath house is well-used; shower stalls have slight mildew odor. Showers cleaned at least once every morning. The handicapped shower stall allows water to spill onto the floor outside the shower & it wets the entire floor of the room. There are no hooks or a place to put clothing & towels. Did not use restrooms or laundry. Did not use pools, but they looked clean. Convenient to Virginia Beach beach (three miles). There is a bike path that can be followed to reach the boardwalk; however, it is across a busy road from the campground. There is a city shuttle bus that stops in the campground. The campground is in a navy fly zone & there are noisy jets periodically during the day & until close to midnight. This a family destination type of campground. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

So we just got back from a 10-day trip to Virginia Beach. Stayed at the KOA, and I gotta say that the staff there was top-notch. From check-in personnel to the staff that cleans the restrooms, I was very impressed with the professionalism and helpfulness displayed across the board. We had a nasty storm roll through Saturday evening. A lightning strike hit the ground across the road from us, about 20' from the pop-up that occupied the site. Not 5 minutes later staff members were at the camper. Long story short, the father in the camper got zapped by the electrical discharge, and the staff had EMS on site within 10 minutes of the incident. From my assessment, the staff did an A+ job handling the situation and directing help to the family (who were from Montreal and unsure how to access EMS). My biggest "negative" was this park's pricing system. The site price is based on 2 people occupying the site. I didn't catch it when I reserved the site back in March, and that's on me. Even now that I look at their website, it's still kinda sorta hidden - when you put in how many people are on the site, it says that kids under 6 are "free". When I double checked the receipt, it showed a $6 per night charge for "extra" person. I went back to the front desk, and was explained that the site price is for 2 people, etc... I had not come across this before as all the parks we have stayed at have been priced for 4 people. The explanation given me was when a site is only occupied by 2 people, they feel they should be given a discount since they shouldn't have to pay for 2 extra people. I get it, Ive just not encountered it before. Shame on me for not recognizing the pricing policy. (No I'm not going to blast the park on the rating for my mistake). The sites near General Booth Blvd will get traffic noise. That road is a 4-lane, well traveled boulevard. Be advised that if you're back there, you will hear the cars. The sites in that area are well-shaded, and best suited for tents and smaller TTs/pop-ups. A good portion of the sites are gravel/rocky, which is my biggest knock on the park. It's great for shade, especially in the heat of summer, but not the most comfy on the feet. There's a few grassy sites back there, but ask when you call the park - they should be able to let you know the general site characteristics. We were in sites 149 and 150. Very little (to none) shade from 144 to 150. 151-157 have woods/greenery behind them, and 158-190 have a lot of shade. These sites are deep, but narrow. The pull through sites seemed to be narrow as well, but that's where you'll find the full hookups. The sites across the entrance street (21-59) have some good shade as well. The pull-throughs are a gravel base also. For us, 150/149 were perfect (even without the sewer) for the group of us that went down. My rig is long (~60' end to end) and we got in and out fine, though if you've got a tall/long rig, I'd try not to exit using the road along sites 158-190, as the trees that line might be obtrusive to taller rigs. We used the restroom and shower facilities near our site. The restrooms were clean and well-maintained. The showers... the showers could use some improvements in water pressure and hot water. Also, the floors need to be redone and weren't ultimately the most stable or clean. The showeres were attended to, but they need some fixing-up. We were told that the showers up by the pull-throughs were better, but I didn't feel like venturing up that far. Too lazy... There is a beach shuttle that runs every 20 minutes (I forget the exact hours), and it's $2 per person. Parking down by the beach will run you $5 for 3hrs or $10 for all day (depending on lot). We had 10 in our group, so for $20 it was a wash, and easier to bring all our shtuff. Lastly, the noise from the F/A-18s that people complain about: it's not as bad as its made out to be (all hours of the night, constant, disruptive, etc.). Yes, you're gonna hear them. Yes, they will be loud. For the 10 days we were there, only 1 night were they flying past 10 or 11pm. It did not interrupt or spoil any of our camping experience. To me, it's an awesome sound! And, if you're a man and an American, you would NEVER complain about the sound of freedom raining down from above! Heck, if it bothers you, just pretend it's the wife yapping at you and tune it out! So, at the end of our trip, the park gets high marks for it's helpful staff, pool area, cleanliness and attentiveness. Good activities and close to the beach, and there's some fun things nearby (go-karts, water park, mini-golf, Hooters and Chik-fil-A). The negatives are some of the site sizes terrain, and the showers we used. We will definitely return. For our experience, it's a "9". We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

We stayed here to attend my son's wedding in Virginia Beach. The staff was friendly, the site was level, Wi-Fi was strong/fast, and the weather was great. Overall, a very nice campground. I would stay here again. However, next time I would take the shuttle to the beach rather than my toad. Parking is expensive in VA Beach. We camped here in a Motorhome.
