Very nice people! Small park right on hwy 97/153 in the town of Carlton. Easy Access. Looks like there are several long-term renters there. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Great food, friendly staff and a chance for a cocktail or three within walking range of the rig more than make up for the lack of Wi-Fi and cable. This is camping in the country with lots of grass and plenty of shade to read under. A Washington state favorite for me and my family. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
This is the worst park we have been at in 10 years of RVing. We made reservations, but there was no spot reserved for us. The spot left was short, uneven (like rolling waves) and 15 amp service. We couldn't find any owners in the area to help us. The park was like someone's un-kept backyard and that was the size of the whole park. We would never ever stop here again. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
It was kind of a fluke we stayed here. We had a mix up on reservations at nearby Alta Lake (on fourth of July weekend) and were stuck at the last minute trying to find a place somewhat near Brewster, Washington. We went into this park not knowing what to expect and left feeling pleasantly surprised. Although it's not the "prettiest park" (the maintenance man's house was right next door and it was a sight to behold), the little town of Carlton was actually a fun place to discover. The owners of the RV park also own the restaurant right next door, which had great food, and the grocery store just a little further down. I was able to get Wi-Fi at the restaurant, but not at our spot. Each site has a small amount of shade, some sparse grass and nice picnic tables and chairs on a first come first get basis. The downside of this place is there is no view whatsoever. Just a highway with brush in between the campground on one side and then a field on the other. However, the big draw is a little swimming hole right across the highway, although not within view of the RV park. It had a decent sized sandy beach and swimming hole along the Methow River. Lots of rafting, fishing and sunbathing. We have 3 kids and they had lots of fun playing in the sand and the very cold water of the Methow. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
