This campground is in the trees above the Pend Oreille River. It is approximately 2 miles off the 31. There are quite a few sites with fantastic views of the river. We were here during the big heat wave and the breeze off the water and the shade from the trees helped keep us cool. The campsites have nice tables and firerings. The road is paved and was wide enough to maneuver while towing our jeep. This campground was a real treat and best of all there was hardly anyone here! This campground is on the Reserve America reservation system, but 9 out of the 20 sites are non-reservable. We would definitely camp here again. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Absolutely beautiful. We have camped here several times and return each year to the tranquil and peaceful alpine lake. It is the first campground heading west on the 20 from the tiny town of Ione. Bigger rigs may not fit, but our 30 foot trailer and long truck are fine. We have seen many large RVs. This pristine lake offers outstanding views of wildlife and serenity. A small boat ramp for non motor boats offers excellent fishing. Most of the 8 sites are level, lots of trees, fire pits, and a table. Pit toilets and food storage bins available for renters. Camp host drives through daily. During the week we are often the only campers so if you like privacy and wilderness on a paved road you will love this amazing Lake Leo. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
