We found this park by accident. We went to a "resort" but didn't like it, and passed this park, so decided to try it. Only one part of the campground was open, and reservations were not needed. The park was clean and quiet. They had just built cabins along the lake, so some of the pictures of the sites on the website were taken before the cabins were built. There is a trail along the lake to walk. We were treated to the sight of deer in the late afternoon along the water's edge. We will go back to this park again. We camped here in a Motorhome.
I love this park. It's got allot to offer with the swimming area, and trails, but you have to go across the parks main entrance to use it. A beautiful setting. Hosts are friendly and helpful. I would recommend this park anytime. Off season is about the best time to go unless you can get reservation during the summer.. It always full. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
Nice country park. But very noisy with boat traffic on the lake and nearby river. We stayed there on Labor Day weekend. Would not return on a weekend due to boat noise, as loud as camping near a highway! We camped here in a Motorhome.
Varied Spaces - We have stayed here many times. This is our favorite camping spot in Washington. The park is always clean, the Hosts are always pleasant. The full service loop sites 1-14 on the lake side are too small for our 28 foot fifth wheel, the best spots are 18-24. Our last stay was in loop B with no septic but the spaces are larger and seem a little more private. You loose the beach access from the campsites here but it was a good area. Showers are 50 cents for 3 minutes now. Overall the park is pretty peaceful for the size and the lake adds a great atmosphere. The local day use area has a beach but was too busy this last visit, there was not enough parking. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
This is one of the most popular state parks in the state. It is virtually booked up for weekends through the rest of the summer. This is not a big rig friendly park. I managed to find one back in spot in the full hookup area for my 31ft. 5th wheel, but it was tough going. In the dry camp area you might find more luck. This was the first place we ever camped at and we love it. But it will be crowded during the summer weekends. It is an older park, built back in the days when the largest trailer out there was 30 feet long. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
A very nice State Campground with sites that share a campfire. Nicely tall wooded area, sites and area is clean and well kept. All sites are on asphalt and easy to level your R.V. Not all sites have sewer hook up, although you can stop on the way out to dump before leaving. I will return here again. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
This is a very nice family park. The night life here is fun. They play music and people come to dance and have fun. The fishing is good too. The staff is very friendly. We will camp here again. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
If you have children this is the place for you. Lots of boating and fishing fun. Lots to do 24/7 This is not a quiet place, do not stay here if you don't have children or if you like quiet. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
Great, very family oriented park. Lake is big yet not too crowded. There are two large playgrounds, rooms for rent, a restaurant, store, great fishing, docks, boat rentals, activities for kids, etc. There is a fishing dock that has plush, comfortable seats built in! The "resident" bald eagle is amazing to watch. The interior road is paved and sites are gravel. Most sites have picnic tables and fire pit. If they had cable and Wifi this place would be perfect. The gravel in the sites is a real mess when damp so bring your mats. The TV reception was 1 fuzzy channel so don't forget the satellite dish or just watch the lake or their rental VHS tapes (no DVD's). The sites are fairly level. Hook ups are placed awkwardly so bring some extra length utilities. The staff can be slightly rude but were accommodating when we asked to move sites due to some renovating they were doing. The restaurant was also under renovation so I can not attest to the food, however we will return and will try it then. We camped here in a Motorhome.
All but two of the RV slots have full hook up and most are pretty easy to navigate with a large RV or trailer (many are pull through). The grounds are mostly gravel with a small (maybe 10'x10') slip of grass, picnic table and fire pit for each slot. Likes: - Quiet time at 10:00 - Grounds are well maintained - Clean showers and bathrooms - Plenty of garbage cans (no overflows) - Small, but well stocked store - Boat launch with a gas station, plenty of trailer slots and boat slips - Lake is small enough to not be busy, but big enough to take 15-20 minutes to run from end to end. Has Rainbow trout, Tiger Musky and at least one other fish. - Very kid friendly. Has two big playgrounds, basketball court, volleyball area and the dance on Saturday night has lots of kids music. Dislikes - The utilities are at the end of the slots, so be sure to have a long H20 and sewer hose. - It is built into a side of hill, so not all of the slots are level (we didn't bother hooking up our sewer line because the drop was uphill from our discharge). Slots 67-74 were okay, but 81-88 seemed worse. The rest appeared to be fairly level (but not sure about 100-104). - The dance on Saturday nights brings locals out of the hills and the place gets very busy and loud. Local kids also seem to drop by and cruise the place as well. - If you have young kids like us (infants or toddlers) on a sleep schedule, don't bother coming here. The dance goes until 10:00 and is too loud to get them to sleep. Wait until they're at an age where you can keep them up late w/o throwing off whatever schedule you have them on. We stayed along the 67-74 strip. When we go back, we'll either stay in 36-37 or 95-104 to keep away from the noise and traffic. We camped here in a Tent Trailer.
Beautiful little secret not far from the main road nestled between Rainier and St. Helens National parks. Owner/manager "feeds" the bald eagles by placing raw chicken parts on the dock. Eagles fly from far across lake and grab them from dock in mid-flight! Great show for everyone! Flying bug factor not bad for a lake site. Lush surroundings. Good hiking, great fishing, little day drives abound on the dozens of back roads. Many sites are lake front, and almost all are level. Managers fairly friendly. Rules are strict, but not overbearing. Prices at store mid-high. Actually camped there in 2003. I will go back. We camped here in a Tent Trailer.
Excellent campground only 25 miles east of I-5 on the way to Mt. Ranier. Sites are laid out in such a way that you don't have to look in your neighbors window. Cell phone availability is very spotty to non existant. I would give this a higher rating if they had 50 amp and sewer at each site. We camped here in a Motorhome.
The regular reserved RV sites are $22; however overflow unreserved sites without power and water are $11. We actually moved from a $22 site to the $11 site because these sites were right on the water; had a better view; and more convenient to the boat launch, swimming beach, laundry and store. We camped here in a Motorhome.
We love this park due to the large campsites and large play field. There is also a store near the swimming area that has breakfasts during the summer. There are multiple playgrounds also. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
Level gravel sites with lots of grass around your space. Only water and electric, but plenty of dumping stations on the way out. This place is a jewel with a great staff. It does fill up on weekends. You probably won't get in without a reservation. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
Sites were large and spacious. One draw back is the birds eye loop is up a pretty decent sized hill. Restrooms were clean but doors were left proped open so bugs would hang out in there. Showers were only 1 stall so you would have to get dressed on the wet floor. Not much to do in the area. If you like boating/fishing this is a great location for you. We camped here in a Motorhome.
This one has something for almost everyone. Boating, fishing, swimming, playgrounds, horseshoe pits, endless undulating grassy meadows and a camp store that serves up good breakfast and a respectable cuppa joe. It's a large, clean campground in a beautiful setting. Open and grassy, but with ample mature deciduous and evergreen trees and a good mix of sun and shade. A wide selection of pull-through and back-in sites are distributed among three loops. some by the water, some in the 'birds eye' loop overlooking the lake and campground. The sites themselves are well-laid out. Fire pits are thoughtfully located away from the pad and out of the foot traffic areas. This one was also great for the kids. They loved the grassy fields and play structures. Good biking opportunities. A large beach, and a grassy slope that's good for volleyball. The only drawback I found was the lack of sewer hookups. Sites come with power and water only. Pull-throughs have a somewhat tight radius that can be a bit of a challenge for longer rigs. Those might be happier in the many back-ins available. In both cases, maneuverability and visibility are excellent. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Tacoma Power campground with boat launch on Riffe Lake. Very well kept with large spaces lots of play equipment for kids. Good fishing and water sports lake . Lots of grass and trees. 22 miles from I-5 S of Chehalis. We camped here in a Motorhome.
