The brochure shows a very soothing, picturesque place to camp along with poetic descriptions. Wow: the brochure was very deceiving! What a dump! It was more like a trailer trash parking lot. Any view of the lake was blocked by trees or ugly permanent trailers. Even the map on the brochure was deceptive: driving west from '67' we took the left on 'P' from 'A' only to drive for 30 minutes in a big circle realizing the signs were posted further west on 'A'. Then there was the added fees and odd rules. Can't walk pets, keep noise to your site (hard to do when the sites were only 12x18), anything above a whisper gets you kicked out with no refund of course. Don't waste your precious vacation time and money on this dump. Don't believe their brochure. We camped here in a Motorhome.
First the pro's. Very pretty lake. It is picturesque from the third tier where we camped. The campground is nice, and the hosts and staff at the bar were friendly. Now, the cons. This is a VERY tight campground for turns, and you descend a VERY steep hill to get into it. I was concerned about the back of our Travel Trailer dragging. But I went slow and we were ok. The campground layout is three tiers. Very neat for a "view" perspective, but it means that the sites are quite shallow from a level ground perspective. Once we parked, if you walked much past the edge of the awning, you were on a VERY steep hill that would be very hard to stand on, much less walk on. The fire pits are on the edge of this hill. Thus you can only sit on one side of the fire, not in a circle around it. This is a nice park, good for adults, nothing for kids. The sandy beach is non-existent. It is literally 6' of sand water frontage. But, we didn't come here to swim so no big deal to us. If the owners did some upgrades to make more of a level area for the sites, my rating would go up considerably. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
Nice campground, but photo's, website, and brochure make it look better than it is. Could use some upgrading to the showers (only 1 bathroom/shower for the whole campground), beach area was very small, boat docks run down. Great location, and I recommend the top tier for the best view. CG has mostly seasonal campers and park models. Lake is good size, and not overly populated. A lot of skiers and tubing, but there is a no wake rule after 2:00 for fishermen. CG has a bar and restaurant, and had karaoke on Sat. night. Staff was friendly. I recommend this CG, but know that it is not as nice as advertised, and do not go there with too high of expectations. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Camped here in October of 03. Left our two toddlers at home and went just the "two of us"
for a romantic weekend. Turns out that is just the kind of campground this is here at this lakefront campground. Absolutely nothing for toddlers or very small children to do here, but what a great place for adults! Very clean, homey, and comfy bar and restaurant with excellent food and good conversation to be had with the "locals". It was blustery and cold when we camped here, so we had a great time relaxing in the restaurant with cocktails, then headed back to our site for a campfire while we watched the water from our beautiful site. Great fishing lake, friendly staff with Very well-maintained grounds and restaurant. We plan to make it our special getaway spot for the two of us...again, nothing for the kiddies unless they are old enough to go out in a boat and be trusted near water! Also, no playground that I could see. We LOVE THIS place. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
