Just got back from Wolf River CG and had a good time. It was nice to tube the long river trip, which has been doable for the last 4-5 years. What wasn't nice was all the flies and mosquitoes that come with the rain. We had a river front site, which allowed the girls to play right behind the camper. The site was very spongy because of the rain, but level. I would give them a 10 if they got rid of the coin showers. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
This is a local DESTINATION; lots of people all the time, hundreds per day to do tubing on the river. Pull through sites are not really pull through, as in you must BACK OUT of the site; you cannot pull all the way through if all spaces are taken and then only shorter unit can pull through as the land is a steep slope down. Yes, this is confusing as are the hookups; you must pull strait in so that the utilities are on the left and you then must back out. If you back in the utilities are on wrong side. Showers are somewhat clean if you use the ones AWAY from the day use area. NOTE: I have been to two hog callings and a turkey shoot and never seen COIN OPERATED SHOWERS, but that is what you have here. Dump station is hard to get to. Lots of cars parked around it as this place is full of day use people everyday. Potable water is good. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
Facilities were neat and well kept up. Bathrooms were very clean. Speed limits on the grounds were not being obeyed, even by employees. It was not uncommon to see vehicles traveling approximately 20-25 MPH past our site. Made me very uncomfortable with a three year old child. While at the playground with my child the lodge was playing uncensored rap music on the exterior speakers making us quit that activity due to the profane language. Site was overtaken during the day by day visitors for the tubing activities. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
They put us by the Seasonals. It was nice and quiet, seemed like a whole different world then those camping by the river, it was a bit louder. There is tubing which was very fun however in the middle of the trip people "docked" for drinking and ???. Lots of 18-24 year olds. All in all we had a very nice time and would go back. The food at the onsite bar and grill was surprisingly good. I'd go back but not with small children. We camped on father's day weekend, lots of families. Not sure if this is the norm or just the weekend crowd. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
