Nice small state park right on Lake michigan with miles of sandy beachfront. Unfortunately the water is so clear this year that some algie covered the first 3 feet of water. Once past that the lake was fine. Stayed in site 17e which had a paved pad and 30 amp electric. Very quiet at night, not a lot to do in the immediate area, but if you are looking for a nice weekend getaway this is the place. We camped here in a Motorhome.
A park that we have camped at before and not disappointed. However, this time we camped and "spring cleanup" must not have been complete yet. There were a lot of cut down trees, leaves and branches laying all over the park. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
I hesitated to post this review, as this is a very popular state park and it's difficult to get weekend sites, or even reservations! Our visit this year, after an absence of several years, confirmed why we like this place so much. The park itself is right on Lake Michigan, with a nice beach and changing facilities. The campground, located behind a back dune, is a short walk from the beach, and a couple sites have their own unofficial trails to the beach area. Sites are paved and mostly spacious; many are shaded, some in the woods, and a few are open. There are some rather weird (in my opinion) pullthrough sites, not especially large, along the campground entrance road - right along the road! Unlike most state parks, this one also has a coin laundry available (probably for swimsuits). Very pleasant; some turns in the cg road may be tight for larger rigs, as are some of the back-in angles. Less than half the sites have electric hookups (20/30 amps), and most of these are reservable, and filled on weekends. One of Wisconsin's best state park campgrounds - and that says a lot! We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
