Date of Stay: April, 2018 - $28.00
Overall Rating:

We had a delightful four night stay at this very large campground (over 500 sites) in April 2018. Our site did require leveling on blocks but was long enough for our 27 foot trailer and tow vehicle. Sites appear to be undergoing renovation and some of the renovated sites on the water had concrete surfaces. Ours was asphalt in reasonably good shape. The lake is beautiful. There were few campers during the week but the park filled up on the weekend. We had no problems with noise even on the weekend. This is a good park for overnight or stays of a week or more. Waterfront sites require a 7 day stay. Two night minimum stay for weekends on all sites and 3 night minimum for holiday weekends. We camped at Wind Creek State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Date of Stay: April, 2018 - $52.00
Overall Rating:

This is a huge park , a little off the beaten path but beautiful. We stayed in the new luxury section that has 55 spots, all 50 amps, concrete pads, sewer and right on the water. Sites are large with plenty of room to maneuver our 45 ft. with towed. The only problem we ran into was if you make reservations for one of these sites in advance you must stay 7 nights, if you just walk-in you can stay for only 1-2 nights if you like. This is a very popular weekend park during the season so it stays busy and can be a little noisy with boats and children at times. There are horse trails , fishing, lake swimming and boat launch facilities and it is excellently maintained with gated entrance and plenty of security. The closest restaurants are in Alexander City which is about 5 miles as is the closest Walmart. There is a Dollar General store about a mile from the park which is great for cokes, snacks, ice, etc. Will definitely stay again. We camped at Wind Creek State Park in a Motorhome.

Date of Stay: March, 2018 - $25.00
Overall Rating:

This is a huge park is a beautiful location. It is well kept and has plenty of scenic hiking, walking, biking opportunities. I would imagine in the summer months, the lake is hoppin' with boats and skiers, and jet skis and all manner of lake recreation. We were there in early spring, running the heat in the mornings, taking walks, and doing a little fishing from the piers. Our site, and most of the sites we observed, was very narrow, so much so that we couldn't stretch out our rug in front of our door. It was adequate, though. Most sites had either a fire ring or a pedestal BBQ grill. We spotted just a handful of sites that had both. The waterfront sites were the most desirable, but our camp information sheet said that those are reserved for campers staying at least a week. The negative here, to me, is the lack of privacy or view. Although it's all on the lake, most of the sites are going to be looking at other RVs instead of the water. If a view is important to you, you're probably going to have to get one of the premium sites on the water at a much higher price. The park overall was not crowded at all when we visited in early March, but we happened to be in a section that had quite a few RVs. The water view was on the backside of our RV, with other RVs just outside our front door. I can imagine during the busy summer months it would be similar. You'll be happiest here if you use your RV for the necessities of life and are away from your site doing fun things most of the time, especially boating and such. You're probably not going to want to lounge under your awning to enjoy the view of the back of your neighbor's RV. There are multiple places to enjoy beautiful views, though. It just takes a little walking or riding to see them. That being said, everything else about the park is GREAT. Just don't go in expecting wonderful views or privacy from every site, and you'll be fine. We plan to go back with our horse and try some of the horse trails. We camped at Wind Creek State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

Camp store is surprisingly well stocked and cheap. They had Walmart prices on almost everything they sold. Their prices were actually better than the Dollar General right up the road outside the park. Staff were friendly and helpful.

We had a great time! There was a group of 6 sites that we got during this trip. We were all in the same Premium site section. The sites are spacious. The restrooms were clean. The staff was very helpful, we set up a scavenger hunt for our group and they were very kind to work with us on it. We camped at Wind Creek State Park in a Motorhome.

We have been here several times visiting relatives. It is an enormous state park on Lake Martin with over 500 sites. Many sites have 30 amp FHU. A few sites have 50 amp FHU. Rates are discounted after Nov 1. Weekly and monthly rates are available. Easy access from US 280. Easy check-in. Reservations are available, but not necessary in November. Well laid out campground. The sites are asphalt. Utilities worked as expected. Interior roads are asphalt. Propane is available on site. We camped at Wind Creek State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Very nice park located in Alexander City, AL directly on Lake Martin. Pricey to stay here but for a night at $63 I'll take it as the view at sunset will be stunning. Nice concrete pad with fire ring and stand up charcoal grill. We camped at Wind Creek State Park in a Motorhome.

This was a pretty nice park but I found the sites too close together and some didn't have much usable area besides the trailer pad. Ours didn't even have a fire ring. We were there for some fall festival with kids trick or treating so it was very busy but suprisingly quiet at night. I'd go back if I could get site B34 or one in the E loop. Could be the prettiest state park we have ever stayed in. Check in was easy and help was very friendly, lots of sites here so we unhooked and found site before taking the bus into the park. We had site B27 backed right up to the water, lots of room too. We launched our kayaks right behind the site. They also have a well stocked store with boat rentals too. No WiFi or cable in our basic site but with all there is to do you wont miss it. Park is patrolled and secure and they don't hassle you about the little things, like parking on the grass. Lots of stuff for the kids too!!! We camped at Wind Creek State Park in a Motorhome.

Very large state park. Our site backed up right on the water which gave us a great view of Lake Martin. Good cable TV and decent wireless internet service. As others have stated, a little pricey for a state park but I can see that the staff has a lot of area to maintain with probably very little state funding. They do a great job. We'll definitely be back. Thanks. We camped at Wind Creek State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Roads and sites are asphalt. No pull thru, but most are full hook up. Water, Electric, and sewer are in great shape. They have fire pits and grills, but no paved patio. Tables are wood and a little aged, but work fine. Bathrooms and showers are very clean. There is a laundry at the Marina. Wind Creek in on Lake Martin, which is miles and miles of good fishing, sailing, skiing, etc. There is a sand filled beach area. Located on one of the points is a premium area with large concrete pads, cable, and wifi. The premium sites are around $58 a night. The guest hosts in the campground are extremely friendly and helpful. We camped at Wind Creek State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Overall Rating:

The only good thing I can say about Wind Creek is that it is easy to get to from Hwy280. This park was packed due to local school's spring break week. Check in was confusing. Given wrong site info and directions to site was incorrect. Not easy when you have a 40 foot RV. Finally found our site but there was a huge culvert on either side of a very narrow pad. RV rear almost went into culvert. No other sites available. Sites are very small and cramped with the pads being paved but very narrow. There are exposed tree roots all over the site making walking treacherous. Told we had a 50amp site but it was only 30amp.

Verizon cell signal very good but no satellite signal due to trees. Park WiFi down due to maintenance during visit. I would not recommend this campground to Big Rigs. Maybe the waterfront sites that are much more expensive are OK but we did not get to check them out since we were there only for an overnighter.

Exit was almost impossible to go South on 128 due to a very narrow lane with curbing. RV tires rubbed the curbing. Sadly we will not be back. Will not return. We camped at Wind Creek State Park in a Motorhome.

This is one of the best state parks that we have visited. We had our pick of sites and chose one that backed up to the lake. Beautiful site and surroundings. There were few neighbors in November. Site and roads are paved and well maintained. Utilities worked well, as expected. Good Verizon and excellent Direct TV. This was our second stay and we would certainly consider spending a month or more during the winter months in the future. We camped at Wind Creek State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Overall Rating:

We called a couple of days ahead for a one night reservation with a 50 amp full hookup site at this state park for an early November weekend. The lady on the phone told us we wouldn't need reservations, as they had plenty of space, and did not reserve specific spaces. We arrived shortly after noon on Friday, and found that what we had been told was true. Of the 39 spaces with 50 amp service, only 4 were occupied when we arrived. We were able to select our site from those that were open. We had not been told what the rate was, and were shocked at the $63 price for one night (and this was after taxes, and with the senior discount).

We selected site 176, which was a very long and wide concrete pad with a nice lake view. The hookups were at the back of the pad, and luckily our electric cable was just long enough to reach, without having to break out the extension. A 25' water hose was also just long enough. The sewer connection was also at the back of the pad, and if we had needed to use it, we would have had to connect an extension to reach it.

This section of the campground is new, and there was a notice at the main office that the campground WiFi was unavailable because of the renovations. We have a strong WiFi booster, and found a campground WiFi signal, but even with our booster, it was not strong enough to do simple web searches and email. Cable TV was provided, however there were only a few channels available, and they were quite grainy. It has been raining off and on during our stay, and the local network channels are unavailable more often than not.

Although the parking space is nice and well maintained, the price is much too high for what is available. We will not be coming back for a return visit. We camped at Wind Creek State Park in a Motorhome.
