Very friendly and helpful staff which includes a park ranger. The park was full this weekend with a group of archery competition and the Dixie division military group showing their military replica vehicles. The park was very clean and they now have sewer connections on all sites.

The park has a pool, the ironworks furnace and lots of trails as well as a couple of cabins that have artist and leather crafts. They also have great cabins we have stayed in on other occasions and bingo on Friday nights. Spaces range from close togetherness to lots of extra room depending on area.

Great place to enjoy quiet weekend and meet and make new friends. We camped at Brierfield Ironworks Historical State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Whoever set up the camping at this park has never been to another campground. We paid for an "electric and water" site. Turns out it was primitive camping on the side of a hill with dips, dirt, mud, rocks, and fallen branches but no actual sites. The water and electric were a few connections spread out over the entire space. There was no spot to camp with an RV where you could reach both, and nothing actually level or cleared off. We ended up paying extra for a site with sewer (we had no need for a sewer site). These sites looked like RV parks being small and close together but without the concrete pad.

We asked for a map of the trails and got an old handwritten map that they said wasn't accurate with small lettering and had been copied so many times we couldn't read it. If they have bathroom and/or showers here, I never found them. They aren't near the campsites. There's a pool here that they make a big deal that it's "clean" so that was scary. We don't plan to return here. We camped at Brierfield Ironworks Historical State Park in a Motorhome.

Extremely nice staff. Beautiful little state park. We stayed in the 'hollow' which has water and electric. Huge width on sites. A few might take a big rig. Lots of trees and a fire pit on site. Roads are dirt and narrow. Sites are a bit tricky to get into but worth it. Great little trail in the woods to walk. They do not take reservations but you can call and find out availability. Restrooms were older but clean. We would definitely stay here again. The rate we had was for Seniors. Best deal we have had in a while! Wifi and cell service is very weak but usable. We camped at Brierfield Ironworks Historical State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

This is a nice campground. Everyone was extremely nice from the staff to the visitors. The campground is small so in the course of a weekend visit you meet just about everyone. We visited during their Halloween celebration. Great fun was planned for kids of all ages including ghost tours and trick or treating. Positives: Great playground, quiet night sleep, friendly staff, wide parking pad. Negatives: Long walk to the bathroom/shower, close together sites, dusty (rock and dirt). We will definitely stay here again and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this campground to anyone. We stayed here in a pop-up. We camped at Brierfield Ironworks Historical State Park in a Tent Trailer.

I actually loved this historical park. It was so unique, a small reconstructed village, the ironworks are very impressive. Take time to talk to a ranger to get the history of the ironworks. The swimming pool is open to the public so was very crowded. The shower house is shared by the swimming pool patrons. We were in campsite 25 next to a stream with a covered bridge steps away. Quiet, well maintained, friendly staff. We plan to come back someday. We camped at Brierfield Ironworks Historical State Park in a Motorhome.

They have spots for RVs of any size although most sites are on the short side. There's a nice pool, an archery range, a general store and cabin rentals. There's also a woodworking shop that has some very neat items in it. Since it was Labor Day weekend when we were here, it was quite busy: lots of campers, people playing horseshoes, croquet and various other outdoor games. There are no full hookup sites but they do have a dump station near the general store. Most sites have water and electricity and they also have a number of primitive sites with no hookups at all. There's not a lot to do outside of the park but there is enough to do at the park to satisfy a weekend of fun. The town of Montevallo is nearby and they have anything you might need in case you forgot to pack something. Very scenic park and we enjoyed it. We camped at Brierfield Ironworks Historical State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Located about 12 miles southwest of Calera, just off I-65 south of Birmingham, Brierfield Iron Works has a nice small campground. There are two camping areas. There are 10 sites near a gravel parking lot, for the small church and some of the cabins. Those sites, which are right next to each other, back right up to the stream that runs through the park. The other 15 sites are in an area between the stream and a hill. Some of these sites also back up to the stream. While some are closely spaced, there are some that are well spaced. There is a large "range" just behind the camping areas. I was told that was for target shooting, which happens one weekend every month. The ruins to the iron furnace are near the entrance to the park. The kids enjoyed going around looking at all the green and black glass-like rocks that are scattered throughout the park. When we were there, one of the bridges over the stream was being replaced. Access to the dump station required backing up. The only other thing I could pick on was the small amount of road noise that was only noticable at certain times. We camped at Brierfield Ironworks Historical State Park in a Fifth Wheel.
