Arrived after office hours and did not find any site information as promised. There was a gravel area near the office with a few full hook ups. We backed into a site here, hook ups worked well and we had a nice grassy view from our large back window. This is a huge part of over 200 sites. Many sites are close together and on the grass. We camped at Smith Lake Park in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

This is a huge county park in a rural area. Swimming pool looks great but was closed as was the miniature golf which looked nice. Our GPS took us on many winding roads to get here. We didn't feel it was worth going here for one night after the fact. We had not realized how long it would take to get to the park from our main route of travel.

Super large campground, well maintained. Next to Alabama Public boat launch (free). We stayed for thirty days as reflected in the rate we paid. Can stay for up to six months. Only complaint there are no sites with views of beautiful Smith Lake. Two very nice playgrounds, putt putt, pool, lake, beach. Very laid back. Nice people. We camped at Smith Lake Park in a Travel Trailer.

Heartland held an Ala. group meeting here (17 campers) - at a reduced rate. Two months out we signed up to stay a full week ($160 - $170 for the week). Most important to know: no wifi and no Verizon; only two or three weak over the air TV channels. Parking pads required backing in at a 300 degree turn in - which pulled my safety brake cord out. The 50A service, water and sewer were fine. My assigned spot (M22) was foul with cigarette butts. We camped at Smith Lake Park in a Fifth Wheel.

When we needed a resupply trip we typed Walmart in to the GPS, it took us to a Walmart distribution center; the real deal is just a tad bit further down the road. Verizon worked fine in town.

Had a great stay on Thanksgiving Weekend. Campground was very clean quiet, and well kept. Staff was friendly and helpful. Sites are very close together so if you have a larger camper, then things might be a little tight, and sites range in levelness from extremely unlevel to OK level. Lots of things to do. Putt Putt course was fun for the kids and a great value $3.00 per person. Playgrounds were nice and there was even basketball, volleyball and other activities for families.

Stayed here twice for 1 night each while passing thru. Pretty setting, no wifi, no cable. Able to get about 15 channels on TV if weather is good. We usually like having wifi and cable but there were very few choices in the area. We camped at Smith Lake Park in a Motorhome.

We stayed for three nights. There were no trees on our lot but plenty of trees nearby. The only reason I did not give this park a 10 was due to the entrance. I used to stay here as a kid in tents. The main or old entrance is blocked off and now you enter near the marina. The road is narrow, then you have to wind around one way roads to get to your site. I could not imagine two large campers passing by on the narrow road. The rest rooms are clean and our site had full hookups. The park staff was nice and friendly. If you plan on watching t.v. You better bring a video or a satellite. Over the air reception is non existent. We camped here for the Rock The South Concert. The drive was not bad and we got to enjoy the lake each day before the concert. We camped at Smith Lake Park in a Travel Trailer.

Nice park, friendly staff, pool and putt putt golf is extra, even for residents of the campground. Lots are spacious with a sunny/open exposure. Site surface is gravel and features a fire ring and picnic table. We camped at Smith Lake Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Overall Rating:

Good park for a weekend getaway. It has a very nice pool. There is a lot of space for the kids to play. The campsites we were in were Very close together. If the adjacent site to mine were occupied I wouldn't have room to extend my awning without hitting the back of their RV. If they had a slide out, I probably wouldn't be able to get out the door. It's a shame they were so cramped, they have lots of space available but chose to cram to campsites into very small areas. Office personnel were extremely nice. There is no cable TV and we were only able to get a signal for 1 over-the-air TV station event though we have a antenna booster. They have WIFI access, but it wasn't working when we stayed there. We camped at Smith Lake Park in a Motorhome.

This is a very nice park and there is plenty of room for the children to run around and play. The bath house and restrooms were clean. The only downside is the distance from most campsites to the lake. The park's staff was very helpful. The park was very quiet and plenty of shade trees are available. We camped at Smith Lake Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Overall Rating:

We drove 6 hours to go to this park. It was ok. The staff was good but seemed indifferent to the world. It was a good park with plenty to do for the kids. The waterslide is broken, so do not make a trip just for that. The pool is jam packed with people. To many for our liking. The Lake was a red clay lake so everything we wore was stained red afterwords. All in all it was an OK time. I just wish the slide had worked and the lake was not red mud/clay. The goofy golf was a very nice touch and was one of the better things to do. There are lots of residents here, 3/4 of the park maybe. Some dirty looks from them as they drove past in their golf carts. Strange place, nice park. Not sure if we will be back. We camped at Smith Lake Park in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

There are some permanent campers here but they keep the area presentable. The sites are just grass, but some are quite roomy. In February, when we went, we felt like we had the whole campground to ourselves. Has areas to walk and explore and a nice playground for kids. Fishing is available in lake with a license. Cell service was good. We camped at Smith Lake Park in a Travel Trailer.

Overall Rating:

This is a nice campground. The sites are not level and there is no reasoning around the site layouts. The pool and water slid are an additional $7 per person. The campground sits in a public county park with no entrance fee so there are non-campers in and out of the restrooms at all times. The beach area on the lake is also free/public access. However, the boat launch is great and free and we carried our boat. We would camp here again. (The $11 rate is based on a monthly rate of $330 per month.) We camped at Smith Lake Park in a Motorhome.

There was no TV reception, but site was reasonably level and area clean. In spite of no alcohol or loose pets, there were both. However, they were no problem and we found the park quite nice. The pool looked lovely, but it didn't seem to be open during our stay (2 nights). We would return if in the area. We camped at Smith Lake Park in a Motorhome.
