RV park set up primarily for use of the recreation & water park next to it. Our back-in site was fine, gravel, good FHUs and space next to rv for car. Neat, clean well maintained except for many low hanging branches on loop road and sites. We had to weave down the road to avoid branches scraping but otherwise a good park for us. We don't use restroom facilities as we have our own so N/A. Many permanent residents or seasonals that leave rv parked on site. ( Please don't use the term full-timers in place of permanent residents) We are full -timers because we left our house for an rv but we travel the USA & we don't park permanently. We would return. We camped at Point Mallard Park in a Motorhome.

As other reviewers have said, this is a crowded park with limited availability for vacationers. This was our first time at the campground, and we went for the water park, so the convenience to that was excellent (5-minute walk, bike racks also available at the water park). We arrived on Sunday afternoon after the office was closed. The host who checked us in indicated that had we called ahead, the office staff *might* have assigned us a site, though reservations aren't officially taken. (I did try to call earlier in the day, but no one answered.) Probably because it was Sunday, driving through the loops was challenging because there were a LOT of vehicles at sites throughout the loops (weekend visitors, I'm assuming--didn't seem so crowded on Monday). We took the only back-in spot with shade, but it was tight--we didn't have room to let our awning out because of a tree. We were so close to our neighbors that it felt like we were interrupting their dinner as we set up (there literally can't be more than 6 feet between sites). The hookups worked fine for us. If you like more space, this is not the place for you. If you are looking for a place to park while you enjoy the area, it's an affordable option. We camped at Point Mallard Park in a Travel Trailer.

We were so disappointed! They have added several new sites with full hook-ups but the campground continues to deteriorate. Many of the full time campers clutter their sites and neglect their campers. No one monitors the use of the many, many golf carts - some of which are driven by children. "Quiet time" is totally disregarded. Unfortunately, no one seems to police the facility and the rules are a farce! It's become a haven for loud, disrespectful people. SAD because the area offers a great bike trail. We camped at Point Mallard Park in a Motorhome.

We have a 44' so were given one of the few pull throughs and we fit easily. Large rig spots are out in the open-good for satellite, not for shade. Plenty of overflow parking although it might be a hike depending on where your campsite is. About half of the folks here are permanent and another contingent simply stores their unit on a site. The place was not trashy although many sites are crammed with stuff. One of the permanent folks said they kick out undesirables quickly which appeared to be the case. Many work at the GE plant down the road. ATT had a group there, with their bucket trucks, installing fiber in nearby towns on a 1-2 year project. The place is part of a larger rec area with golf, tennis , open fields etc. Not much to do in the actual RV park. Poor water pressure. We camped at Point Mallard Park in a Motorhome.

From the time I called for information to my site, there was nothing but friendly professionalism exhibited. The staff is superb & extremely helpful. There is plenty to do. We came for a week in July & August. Stay away unless you have a great ac. Lots of shade...first-come first-served protocol. We camped at Point Mallard Park in a Motorhome.

Easy to get into, with 230+ sites you would think they would fix the bathrooms floors--mold ,old cracks, and very dirty appearance. Bugs, roaches, flying insects all in this area. You will encounter one if not all when you try to shower, or relieve yourself. Must wear shoes to shower. We camped at Point Mallard Park in a Motorhome.

Big rig friendly with level sites. The GPS directed us thru the city streets instead of just down Point Mallard Street; therefore, my suggestion is to ask for directions when you make the reservation. Showers had low water pressure. Laundry was good. Campground was great for riding bicycle. No dog park but lots of fields to walk dog. Dirty gravel road and could not wash vehicle. Due to the season the water park was closed. We camped at Point Mallard Park in a Travel Trailer.

We were very impressed about this park. A security gate near our site made it a challenge to back a 60' combination truck & trailer into, but we did it. The sites are nicely spaced and the date we arrived competitors for a Bassmasters Elite bass tournament were also arriving and there was a lot of traffic. There was no excess noise. The city of Decatur knows how to manage a city park and campground. We camped at Point Mallard Park in a Travel Trailer.

The sites are mostly gravel, sand or grass and close together. The back end of our 43' bus was hanging over a ditch, but the staff was very helpful in finding us a site that was not too muddy. The camper next to us, which we never saw in the four days we were there, left his satellite dish set up on our picnic table. The driveways are narrow and require looping around several times to exit the park. There are a lot of "long-term" campers (not "full-timers" like us), including one police officer, so there is a lot of stuff and extra vehicles spilling out of the sites (cleanliness rating). The park has more than two hundred sites and therefore the Wi-Fi is virtually non-existent. It is very popular with families and many sites had multiple families over Easter weekend. The only saving feature for us was the bike path along the Tennessee River. Next time we visit family here, we will look for something better. We camped at Point Mallard Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

We had great meals at the Cajun Steamer in Huntsville. The Cochon and Grits and the Melvin's Blackened Chicken were awesome! We also really enjoyed the tour of the Space and Rocket Center, Harrison Brothers Hardware store, birthplace of Tallulah Bankhead and driving around the beautiful old homes from the late 19th and early 20th centuries. We were told there are a great number of pre-civil war homes that were not destroyed in the war, but we did not have time to search them out.

We were there soon after they were flooded. Park appeal is low due to many permanent sites with all the "stuff" that goes along with that. Roads and sites needed work since the flood. Lots of room to walk since is a city park and part of a large complex. Utilities worked well but wifi was worthless. Good value. We camped at Point Mallard Park in a Travel Trailer.

Made reservation to stay here on my trip back to Mississippi from Indiana. Called and made a reservation and made sure they understood that I had a 42' triple axle fifth wheel and I was pulling it with a 4x4 long bed dually. Upon arrival there was not one spot that we could fit in. After driving around the park I wasn't sure I wanted to say any way. The spot are tight and there are A LOT of full timers that need to clean up around there spots - kind of trashy. I will never go back. We camped at Point Mallard Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Let's be honest here, everyone is jammed in pretty tight. A lot of folks that live here in their RV, and most of them have a storage unit or two next to their RV. If you have children this would be a great place. Lots of activities and space to roam around, ride bikes etc. We camped at Point Mallard Park in a Fifth Wheel.
