This is a campground, not a 'RV Resort' (just like I like it). 52 sites in two loops, all full hook up. Most sites are level and wide. This campground is off the beaten path so there are not many transient travelers - mostly 'destination' campers. No resident campers because of a two week limit. Old growth hardwoods and a fairly heavy tree canopy - so pick your site carefully if you need a hole in the trees for satellite. The sites are spaced out well and the general layout of the campground is good. This campground is now being run by a management company - American Lands and Leisure; it looks like they are doing a pretty good job. Check-in was efficient, the bathrooms are exceptionally clean and the facilities seem to be well maintained. None of the sites on either loop are directly on the water. But, there's a maze of hiking trails to the West of the Yellow Hammer loop that provides access to the water. There is also a long trail between the two campground loops that has a couple of pleasant surprises - caves and small waterfalls. Be careful though, lots of poison ivy off the trails in the whole campground. Not much for the kids here unless they like hiking and a beach - no playground. This is a quiet campground and dark at night (also like I like it). No street lights except security lights on the bath houses. We camped at Corinth Recreation Area in a Fifth Wheel.

We reserved a site on Recreation.gov. When we arrived we found that the sites you can reserve are very limited online. We asked for a site overlooking Smith Lake and were allowed to change to Y-16. Great site above the Observation area! You may want to call rather than reserving online. It is very quiet there, but not much to do in the area. We would camp there again. We did not use the fire ring because it was too close to our camper. There was a heavy picnic table and two lantern hooks on the site. Bring your own entertainment. There is limited phone service (we have Verizon.). This campground has no internet/cable service. We camped at Corinth Recreation Area in a Fifth Wheel.

We had a great stay at this campground. The camp host was extremely nice and helpful. We took advantage of online registration a week or so before our trip, and check in was a breeze. The park was clean and quiet. Shower and restroom facilities were convenient and very clean. The sites were level and spacious with a fire pit, picnic table, and lantern post. It was an excellent stay and we are looking forward to going back and staying there again. We camped at Corinth Recreation Area in a Travel Trailer.

This was originally a tent-camping park, and we found it to be nothing to write home about; couldn't even see the lake. Not easy to get to from the interstate, and once there we were happy that we had changed from a two night visit to an overnight stay. Older park that the USFS tries to maintain, but their money goes to fighting real fires instead of keeping road shoulders level, and trees trimmed. We camped at Corinth Recreation Area in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Don't expect to be able to use your golf cart on the roads. My wife needs help getting around and we try to cart around parks in order to give her a good view. Seems that USFS doesn't want that to happen. Oh well.

We spent one night here on a road trip without reservations. Many of their sites are suitable for motorhomes and are very level with asphalt pads. We were on site 41 and needed no leveling. This recreation area has launch ramp to a lake. We would stop here again if passing through. We camped at Corinth Recreation Area in a Motorhome.

Sites are nice but close together with no vegetation in between. Showers were old and tired. Push button for water flow, however the family shower room had individual regulating water flow/temp. Expensive fire wood for minimal amount. T-Mobile covergae was 2 bars. W, S & E provided at each site. Dump station closed. We camped at Corinth Recreation Area in a Motorhome.

This place is not very close to any towns or major roads so it is very quiet. The sites seem to be reasonably flat. There was a view of the Lewis Smith lake although it was springtime and the trees were not full yet. Bought groceries in Double Springs area. I had made a reservation on reservations.gov but the host said if I wanted a different spot they would work with me since the campground was not full. I stayed where I was because they all looked pretty good to me. I would recommend this place to anyone that wants to see some back roads of Alabama. We visited this park at the end of the season in October. Sadly, the lake was way down because of drought but we were not using the lake so it was mainly a visual detraction. I really appreciated the asphalt pads. They were deep enough and wide enough for my 34' Airstream, my F250 and the picnic table. There was plenty of shade from the trees around our site. We were right across from the bathrooms so I used them frequently. They were quite clean. We camped at Corinth Recreation Area in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

It's important to know that this campground is 20 - 30 minutes from the nearest small town of Double Springs. That is where the nearest grocery store is. It is 45 minutes from the larger town of Cullman. Cullman is the exit right-off the interstate as well. Due to food allergies, my wife and I had to go to Cullman to get groceries. I work from our Airstream so our Jetpack is a critical life line. The Internet service to the Jetpack supported video and audio conference calls just fine.

The most unfriendly campground we have ever been to. Been camping for over 50 years and this one was bad. Would have been better off without campground host. Site was paved but washed out around the payment. Stayed 3 nights and 4 days and only saw the camp host at check in, no other staff or workers were seen. No activities or playgrounds for kids and no fish cleaning station so fish are cleaned at campsites, We will not be back. My wife and I are from this area and were heart broken to experence this campground. We camped at Corinth Recreation Area in a Fifth Wheel.

The sites are paved and most but not all are level and had a gravel patio. The campground is nice but in the middle of nowhere so be sure to take your provisions with you. There is a swimming area with rocks on the bottom that hurt the feet and a very nice lake for boating and a boat ramp. Too much shade for satellite, ATT worked well. Staff was friendly and helpful.

Camp spots were all full hookups and had some space between them. Nice quiet. Lots of shade. Had nice beach and pavilion, if needed. Lots of picnic tables. Concrete pads. About 10 miles to grocery. Will stay again. We camped at Corinth Recreation Area in a Travel Trailer.

A must, go see the Natural Bridge. It's awesome!

There is an old Corinth Church and cemetery on the road in. If that's your thing. It was interesting.

The Corinth Recreation area is part of the Bankhead National Forest. It is about 30 miles from Cullman, Alabama and interstate 65. The city of Double Springs is about 5 miles and has stores for groceries. It is about 25 miles from Jasper, Alabama. The pads are asphalt and level. Each site has a fire ring, grill, and picnic table. Electricity (30 & 50), Water, and sewer hook ups are great. The staff is extremely helpful and friendly. There is a boat ramp and fishing on Lewis Smith Lake. The beach area is very nice, but I do recommend water / swimming shoes since the bottom is lined with gravel. We saw a number of deer in the park and one grey fox. This is a very peaceful and relaxing place to visit. Nearby you can visit an old 1894 church, the oldest jail in Alabama (1868) and a 1904 covered bridge. We camped in a 24 ft. travel trailer and was well pleased with the room. Motor Homes have no trouble here. We camped at Corinth Recreation Area in a Travel Trailer.

This is a beautiful park with nice, wide spaces long enough for big rigs. There were great trails and easy access to the lake. The park was very quiet at night and very well-maintained. Park staff was friendly and helpful. We would definitely stay there again if we are back in the area. We camped at Corinth Recreation Area in a Motorhome.
