Overall Rating:

This a great park close to Mobile and gulf coast activities. The beach was a good 30 min drive because of stop lights. There are plenty of nearby amenities in Foley. There are lots of great restaurants and shopping in Foley and the entire area is really nice. Fairhope is a super cute little town you should not miss. As for the park, I have never seen a better pool in any park. For the kids they have large water slides and a kiddy type section with sprinklers. They have a separate pool area with a lazy river and it was incredibly clean. I didn't check out the laundry but there is one onsite as well as propane. All of the buildings and grounds are very well kept up and the park is immaculate. There are lots of permanent and long term residents but their RVs are all newer and their spots are not junky at all. The downside of this park is it is very tight. They are really packing them in here and there's no space to stretch out really. The roads are narrow and a little small to navigate but I saw plenty of big rigs so people must get it done. There is a small dog park for the pups and there are sections of beach 30 min away where dogs are allowed. I didn't use their wifi. Cell was good for Verizon (17d/l) but ATT was really bad for data speeds (1.6 d/l). ATT voice was fine. I didn't try T mobile. Tons of cable channels and solid 50 amp power. Cement pads were in perfect condition and very level. I would stay here again if I wanted to stay in the area. I found the price very reasonable at $35/night for the weekly rate. We camped at Johnny's Lakeside RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

Very nice park. Grass sites with nice concrete pads. Quite level. We have been here for 3 previous Good Sam events. Lots of fun and very nice facilities. Great pool and Lazy River float.

Though we made our one week reservation months in advance and requested our favorite site, they gave it away and changed it three times. Upon check in, it had been changed again. After complaining to the Parking Host, and office, we found out it was a common practice here. If reserved for less than one month, they can, and will change your site to better accommodate long term campers. A pretty crappy policy in my eyes.

It is a long drive to the beach. There are many Campgrounds closer if you choose not to fight traffic or pay tolls to get there.

We will continue coming to this area as we love Gulf Shores, but will not camp at Johnny's. Too many nice RV Parks in the area. We camped at Johnny's Lakeside RV Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

We were there for the AL Good Sam Rally for that week and that is why we got the rate we did. It'a clean park, with all cement pads, has a dog run, pools, laundry room and sandwich bar. However the sites are very close together and if your not good at backing into a site you will have problems. Has several full time folks in most of the pull through sites. The park is kept up nicely, no junk laying around even at the full time peoples campers. It is close to everything, shopping, food and touring Mobile, AL and Pensacola, FL. We camped at Johnny's Lakeside RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Take in the NAS Museum at the base in Pensacola, FL ride the scenic roads of Hwy 90/98..pretty country. Take a ferry ride from Foley to Mobile. Eat at the "Throwedroll" they throw rolls at you, the food was good and got plenty of food for the price. There's a business just down from the campground where you can buy some fabrics by the pound. they have a big selection of quilting material.

Beautiful park and sites. Back in was long and level. Grass was long, wet and not cut very often as it was too wet.

Great club house and pool facilities. Very responsive management.

Location is perfect for restaurants and Gulf Beaches.

Would definitely stay her again and recommend it highly. We camped at Johnny's Lakeside RV Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

Stay for 2 months. Middle of January thru middle of March. rate reflects monthly rate. Very clean and well organized . Every day there was different things to do to keep you entertained. Showers and restrooms was spotless and cleaned every day. Concrete slabs that are very level. Only fault was the Wi-Fi was next to none . They need to work on this as it is a lot of snowbirds that depend on Wi-Fi. Would recommend this resort for any snowbird looking for a winter get away. When we pulled in and husband said I did good picking this park, I was happy. Close to lots of shopping and restaurants. Many activities to participate in if desire. Even had a speaker come in one day, WWII survivor of Bataan death march, wonderful! Park was very clean, picked up garbage daily at your site. Dog park and amenity to clean up after your pet were conveniently located around the park. Sites were a bit close together but everyone so friendly, not a problem. Traffic noise was a constant. Wifi good depending on time of day but slow at times. Cable good also. Very level site. We camped at Johnny's Lakeside RV Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

The sites are very tight, but I think that is probably true of any park in this area. Other than that, this is a great park. The staff is very friendly. There are several options for families without leaving the park: go feed the ducks at the lake, a playground, lots of paved roads for bike riding, and of course the water park during the warmer months.

Prices are competitive for the area, the staff has been very friendly. We camped at Johnny's Lakeside RV Resort in a Travel Trailer.

Previously read about new owner and quiet time. Maybe I am too old, but it is a family campground. The new office personnel are much more pleasant and knowledgeable. Pool was cleaner and smoking in limited areas. I found nothing that I would change. We camped at Johnny's Lakeside RV Resort in a Motorhome.

I actually waited too late to make my reservation, so I had to reserve a spot at another campground down the road. On our way in, I told my wife that we weren't driving past Johnny's without stopping to see if they had a cancellation and they did. Spent a full week there, the kids love the pool area and it close enough to the beach. Booked my site for next year. GREAT Place and very family friendly. Me and my wife have stayed at this park for many years but since the new owner has taken over it has become a retirement community. We go there on holiday weekends to have fun and enjoy time with friends and family. Now all that's there are older people that want piece and quiet ALL the time. So no more having fun cause you have go to to bed at 9 PM. When going camping it's all about fun and no worries. If you have kids they will have fun in the lazy river and slides but make sure they are quiet and in bed by 9 PM or you will get a call for park manager because some retired couple got hurt cause they interrupted their bingo game or their afternoon nap. I wish the old owner was still there "The Original Jonny" we always had fun back then. No disrespect to older people but the park's name says "Johnnys RV Resort " not "Johnnys Retirement Community ". We camped at Johnny's Lakeside RV Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

Park is nice but sites are too close together and they cater to older people. So if you stay up pass 9pm you will have complaints from everyone and there rules are about 2 pages long.

The rate is based on the monthly rate divided by the 18 days we stayed. Park office personnel were very courteous and escorted us to our site. All pads are concrete and narrow (approx. 10 ft wide). Sites are narrow, but there is about 6 feet of space on each side of the open slide outs. Roads are asphalt and are approximately 12 feet wide. Because the roads are narrow, maneuvering big rigs is difficult. Laundry is satisfactory. Washers and dryers are $2 each. Nice water park, which is great for kids. The park appears to be occupied mostly by a few permanent residents and it fills up each weekend with locals or semi locals who bring their kids to use the water park. Many guests just park their RVs there and come in on Thursdays and leave on Mondays. We left after 18 days due to the following reasons: 1) Very loud music from park guests that went on until 2:30 AM; 2) guests who drive their 4 wheelers up and down the narrow streets with music blaring at a speed of about 20 mph while consuming alcohol - we were nearly run over on 3 occasions while walking our dogs; 3) park rules limit 1-2 vehicles per site yet we saw sites that had 4 - 5 vehicles per site - our neighbor left his truck parked fully in the street over night; 4) guests routinely cut through sites on the way to and from the water park. If there is not enough room due to parked cars, they just cross beneath your awning; 5) guests were not inclined to obey park rules; 6) we saw no presence of park officials after hours. Because of the narrow streets and parked cars, we were not able to pull out of our pull-through site. There was a vacant site behind us, so the only way out was to back up on to the vacant pad to exit our site. We will look elsewhere for a place to stay in the future. We camped at Johnny's Lakeside RV Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

Liberty Church in Foley is a great place to worship. Be sure to visit Five Guys Hamburgers in Foley. Longhorn Steakhouse in Gulf Shores is good, and Olive Garden in Spanish Fort is also good.

This is a summer park for the kids (water-park) and a winter park for snowbirds. All adult activities (card games, coffee room, in-park dining, socializing in general is very "cliquish" and controlled by the snowbirds.

Park is very clean with very narrow paved roads. All RV parking sites are finished concrete. All sites are very close together which can make it very difficult to maneuver anything 35' or longer. They have widened some turn areas so not to run over curbs and grass although. Two vehicles can not pass each other on the same street without one of them parking on the side.

Cable is very good however, their Wi-Fi is awful to nonexistent. Monthly group meetings have discussed the awful Wi-Fi and Managing Staff promises to have it fixed or they're currently looking into the problem. 3 months there and it didn't get any better.

Be aware, that management sometimes will move you to another site to accommodate another camper for various reasons without notice when you check in. Be very careful of children playing in the streets or riding bikes/skateboards/motorized carts after dark with no lights. Coming back here is not in our plans for now. We camped at Johnny's Lakeside RV Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

Great kid friendly RV park located right off the road and an easy drive (25min) to public beach access. Clean, very safe feeling campground. Nice ceramic bathhouse with 2 showers, 4 toilets. Laundry and clubhouse. There was an ice cream social while we were there. Lots of kids on bikes/playing. Huge waterslide and pool!!! Office staff helpful. And you can store your Camper here for ?$40 month. (But they did go to move ours-tried to charge the wrong battery and ended up disconnecting some battery cables) Wifi was not at all good:( But we will definitely camp here again!!
