Of all the parks we have stayed in with the word "resort" in their name, this is one of the rare ones that truly deserve to call themselves a resort. This park is right on the Coosa River and has fishing piers, bank fishing, boat docks, and covered boat slips. There are two swimming pools, one of which is an infinity pool overlooking the river. And a splash pad for the kids. And a whole lot more. Much of the park is nestled in tall pines common to the area but they do have an "open" section for those of us that are too big to get in under the branches or need a clear shot to the satellites with our roof mounted dishes. The staff couldn't have been friendlier or more helpful. In addition to cheerfully helping accommodate my request for an open site, I got an escort to it and he stuck with me and helped get me centered up on the pad so that all my utilities would connect without having to use extensions. With everything else being so nice it was a little disappointing that the RV pads were bare ground and tightly packed. The sites in the trees were a little grassier but still very close together. Power was solid, ran 2 A/C's, elec fridge, elec water heater and a bunch of ancillary equipment with no voltage drop. Water pressure was good and sewer hookup was a breeze. WiFi is advertised as "not always available" but we had a solid hookup for our two days. Verizon was good. If the RV pads had been a little more widely spaced I would have rated River Country as a 10. We camped at River Country Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

By far my favorite campground! We always get a site on the water and spend every day bass fishing. Pools are clean and since there is 3 of them, plenty of room to swim. Our last visit we planned to stay 2 days and ended up staying 12. The owner is very involved and tries hard to make everyone's stay here perfect. Recently she made some changes to the "bay side" sites to allow more room between the campers. This allowed better parking for the tow vehicles also. We camped at River Country Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Very friendly and safe park on the Coosa River. Good security with a gate and security cameras. We were escorted to our site, but it would have been nice if he would have got off his phone to welcome us. Nice walking trail with wooden swings by the river. Nice garden area with a walking path, but kids were using it to race golf carts. Hopefully, manager takes care of this. Nice park for an overnight stay. We camped at River Country Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Second time we've stayed here. Typical angled rows for most sites. Ours was slightly unlevel. On a lake and very scenic. Appreciate being guided to our site and immediate service when I thought my site Cable TV hookup was messed up (problem on my end). Great Clubhouse for events. They'll pick up your trash as the dumpster is just outside the park entrance. Very friendly staff. We camped at River Country Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

Downtown is decent and worth strolling, Free Back Forty craft brewery tour on Saturdays with "Taproom" restaurant. Nocculalla Falls Park is very nice, albeit one way Gorge Trail is moderately strenuous. All other paths are paved. There is a good Bakery across the lake.

Overall Rating:

This park has lots of different sites - sunny, shady, along the Coosa River, not on the water, pull-through, back-in. All sites seemed level. A guy in a vehicle something like a golf cart leads you to your site. We were in site 171 along the river with a gravel pad, no grass and it was dry and dusty. We had to park our tow vehicle across the road from the campsite because it was not long enough. Along the river is a nice walking trail with wooden swings that seat 2 people, flowers and shrubs. There is a nice park with trees, shrubs & a chapel which is like walking through a forest. If you are traveling north on 411/Rainbow Dr. turn right after Waffle House & before McDonalds on River Rd. - there is a dedicated right turn lane here. Park is close to a shopping mall and restaurants. The only thing we did not like is that an army of tiny ants climbed up our sewer hose, into the water/sewer compartment and RV living room. We had to spray or smush ants off the living room wall, kitchen cabinets & sink and the dog food. Next time we go we will spray all parts of the RV that touch the ground after we hook up. The 2 couples who camped with us also got ants in their rigs. There are no fire rings but you may bring your own off-the-ground fire pits. There are 2 lodges available for groups. Cable TV had about 60 channels. The swimming pools are very nice. We camped at River Country Campground in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Gadsden has a "First Friday" party downtown on Broad St. between 2nd & 5th streets on the first Friday of the month with several bands and many antique cars and trucks. The downtown area has a lot of shops and restaurants. Back 40 Beer Co. is a microbrewery and is downtown on 6th St. The Mary Hardin Center for the Cultural Arts has a large model train exhibit on the second floor.

Gadsden, Al is the start of the 147 Yard Sale. This campground makes a nice home base. Top O' the River restaurant is popular with locals for their catfish. We liked it too.

You are assigned a site when you check in on a first come first service policy. The staff is very helpful in getting you the site of your choice. The sites are snug but they skip every other site so no one is right next to you. Beautiful views of the Coosa River.

We were assigned a site with full hook ups on the Coosa River that had a concrete pad and gazebo. Picture perfect setting. Amazing swimming pool complex as well! Great value and very helpful staff. We camped at River Country Campground in a Motorhome.

We stayed at River Country Campground for one night as we were just passing through Alabama on the way home. We were extremely happy with this campground. Service was friendly. We requested a shady spot and were guided to it. My husband asked where we could park the pickup and was told to use the site next to us as they didn't like to crowd the campsites and he would not rent that site while we were there. The entry requires a key card, security was good. The park itself is beautiful, right on the Coosa river. Very pleasant walking trail around the perimeter of the park. I believe there were two swimming pools available, splash pad, playground, coin laundry, even a storm shelter. If ever in the area again, I will definitely head for River Country Campground. We camped at River Country Campground in a Travel Trailer.

My wife and really enjoyed our 2-night stay at River Country Campground. It is one of the prettiest and cleanest RV campground we've ever visited. From check-in to check-out our stay was very pleasant. A host was dispatched to choose a site and ensure it met our needs and desires. This is a wonderful park to walk around the water's edge and enjoy the daylight and after dark scenery. The park is gated and you will always feel safe and secure. We even observed a couple of Gadsden Police cruisers checking the security of the park. We visited the International Motor Sports Hall of Fame Museum at the Talladega Super Speedway and the Noccalula Falls Park. We will return to explore more of the area. Thanks for providing a wonderful campground! We will definitely return again to explore more this beautiful area of Alabama has to offer. We camped at River Country Campground in a Motorhome.

Enjoy the area, as there are a lot of interesting things to see and do. Next time we're in that area we will stay several days and plan to visit the US Space and Rocket Center in Huntsville. There are a lot of nice restaurants in the area including "It's Yogurt Time" yogurt shop just .7 mile from the camground. You fix your own bowl of yogurt with the toppings you desire. I highly recommend.

This time of year the CG has many sites to choose from. We were given a selection of sites and then directed there by a knowledgeable employee. I received a rose. It is a very quiet CG with a pretty view of the Coosa River which, I believe, is visible from most of the camp sites. There is a marina and boat launch. Two pools and a childrens splash pool, which are not yet open. We enjoyed walking the entire length of the CG along the riverfront. They have pretty flowers planted here and there and have installed swings along the walking paths. The employees appear to patrol frequently throughout the day on golf carts. There is a bit of road noise from Hwy 759 although it did not bother us. Good cable and wi-fi. We stayed three nights. We camped at River Country Campground in a Motorhome.

Stayed overnight here. The park is located right on the Coosa River. It has a marina on site. The pool and other facilites are excellent and even includes a small chapel building. Unfortunately, they seem to focus on their facilities at the detriment of their sites and interior roads both of which greatly need to have gravel laid on them. The site we were on had little gravel remaining on it so it was mostly grass. Cable worked well. I did not try the wifi. The pool, etc. deserves a 10 rating, but the RV sites are no better than a 5 given their poor condition. The park does not give any discounts for RV club memberships. Tips for other Campers:

We have 3 different sources of GPS directions. All were confused by this park's location. After being taken in a loop past the park on a road with no access to the park, I stopped in a parking lot and called the park for directions and was able to easily get to the park. The park is located near several major highways so there is some road noise, but it did not bother us. It is convenient to services and restaurants.

We stopped for one night on our trip back home. This is a super nice campground on a peninsula that extends into the river. We were off season so there were lots of open slots. Unfortunately, it poured rain so we couldn't walk the trail along the river or even hardly leave our motorhome, but with the landscape and trees, we bet it is beautiful when foliage comes out. With the thunderstorm, we asked about a storm shelter and they do have one. It was an easy in and out and nice enough to stay a few days. Staff folks were very friendly and helpful. We would stop again. We camped at River Country Campground in a Motorhome.

This is an interesting CG to rate. We were there for a one night stop over on our way North. There are some really great sites that boarder the river. These are mostly back ins and would be terrific if we were going to spend a few days in the area. The CG is mostly a peninsula formed by the river so it has some natural ambience. There is a very nice river walk all the way around as well as some interior walking trails. The transient sites are parking lotish and tend to be quite close together. Fortunately, it appears that they only use every other site where we were located. If a camper were next to us, we could not have opened our awning.
The pool and facilities were outstanding and could be a model for other CGs. There is no dog park.
Access to and from the highway was excellent and straightforward. The staff was friendly and helpful.
All in all, this is is a good camp ground that has the potential to be great. We would stay here again. We camped at River Country Campground in a Travel Trailer.
