A true hidden gem. Quiet, level, spacious sites with FHU. Pristine surroundings including the lake where one can fish (no license required). Bobby Trent Jones Trail golf course close by. Friendly staff. Day of reservation was not an issue. A must stop if in the area. Bring a fishing pole and your golf clubs. We camped at Sherling Lake Park in a Motorhome.

This was our first time camping here. If you are looking for a quiet and peaceful stay, this is the place. Not much to do except for the walking trail and a golf course near by, but, over all, a wonderful relaxing campground. We would go back. We camped at Sherling Lake Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

This is a very relaxing, quiet place to camp. Not much to do except for the walking trails. There is a play ground for kids. A nice place to just explore. Many places to eat out in town if you choose to do so.

Great overnight stopover spot for us as we moved from NC toward Louisiana. Quiet, full hookups (although we only used the electricity this time). Park is dropping Good Sam membership - too expensive for a relatively small and economically priced park. We camped at Sherling Lake Park in a Motorhome.

I have stayed at this park many nights heading to Gulf Shores. It's a great stopover and I intend to stay longer sometime to explore around the area. Check in is easy and everyone is friendly. You can have an escort to your site or not. (I don't need one as I have know the park.) You can reserve by site if you call ahead. I have stayed in #41 before and it is a level pull-thru as was #25 which I stayed in this time. Bathhouse is a bit dated but spotless. We camped at Sherling Lake Park in a Motorhome.

My rate is based on a weekly rate. Very nice no-frills park. Staff is friendly; park is very clean. They pick up the trash numerous times during the day. I was escorted to my site and he assisted me in hooking everything up. Site was concrete and level; roads are asphalt; easy to navigate. My site was close to a main road and you could hear the trucks going by during the day. I had zero problems with ants as others have said. We camped at Sherling Lake Park in a Travel Trailer.

Overall Rating:

This is a really really nice City park. It has 41 RV camping sites and several tent sites. All asphalt interior roads and concrete pads to park on. The only reason I gave it a 9, is that we had ants in our RV with in 24 hours of setting up. We bought Raid and sprayed our rubber seals and put ant bait where were saw ant trails around our coach. It was fight, but was manageable. If you don't have pets, the staff will spray your sight, if you ask him to before you come in, or during your stay. That should help. The attendant who was working the time we were there, was really helpful. Not much more to say, except we would come back. We camped at Sherling Lake Park in a Motorhome.

We reserved here based on previous reviews. The gentleman meeting us in the office and leading us to the site was very nice. The sites are a bit close we are actually so close to our neighbor it's almost embarrassing, but for a one night stay it works. Some of the sites look like they would be difficult to level; lucky for us we got a pull through and were able to keep our tow in place. There is some road noise but it quiets down later in the evening. Traveling through this area we would use this place as a night over if needed. We camped at Sherling Lake Park in a Motorhome.

This is one of if not the best campground I've stayed at. I travel for work and stay in my travel trailer during the week. I loved staying here for a little over a year and can't wait to be working in the area again so I can return. ALL of the staff are super good people, the place is very clean and very well kept and quite quiet. The wifi worked wonderful as did all of the utilities, the pads are nice level concrete pads and the paved roads make it nice and dust free. The "lake" should be called a pond, but it's really nice to walk around on the trails. We camped at Sherling Lake Park in a Travel Trailer.

This is a city run campground. We just stayed one night on our way to our destination, but enjoyed the short visit. 2 lakes within short walking distance which had walking paths around them. Very nicely kept up, friendly staff and level lots. Would stay here again. We camped at Sherling Lake Park in a Motorhome.

Best WiFi we've experienced (12 megabits download per second for you techies). As others have mentioned, follow signs, not GPS (about 3.3 miles on Hwy 263 on left out of Greenville). Campground is laid out in an unusual configuration and couldn't see lake from our site, but the site was easy to access, relatively flat, 50amp, water and sewer and excellent WiFi. We have a 40-ft with a toad and there was plenty of room for our length and width with two slides. Friendly check-in. We camped at Sherling Lake Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Avoid Wintzell's Oyster House in Greenville. Young, inexperienced, inattentive wait staff. Decent food but not worth $48 for two (and that was without dessert). Try Bates House of Turkey - everything is turkey, but smoked turkey sandwich is highly recommended.

Have overnited here twice and have been very satisfied with facilities. Love the mix of woods and openness. As other campers noted, the layout is a bit quirky since the campground is configured on a hillside, but that does not interfere with access at all. Again, follow the signs - not your GPS. We camped at Sherling Lake Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Paved roads with concrete pads. Pull through sites were parallel to the road and plenty long. Utilities good, including WIFI, but no cable TV. Park only takes cash - no credit cards. Don't rely on GPS to get you there. It will take you about 2 miles past the park. Once you drive by the entrance, it is a long way down that road to somewhere you can turn around. Watch the road signs instead. We camped at Sherling Lake Park in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

We stayed 1 night while traveling through the area.

The park is located several miles off I-65 along acceptable 2 lane paved roads.

The park was built on a hill resulting in an unusual layout. Some of the roads and sites required some interesting maneuvering.

The interior roads are paved. The roads & sites could be considered narrow. The parking pads were either paved or concrete. A few pull through sites were just long enough for a coach with the toad attached.

Some of the sites were laid out strangely that required utility connections to be run under the RV to reach the connections. Not much privacy as the sites are very close to each other.

There was an outside table and a fire pit.

Asked for a satellite friendly site when made the reservations. Didn't get one. There were trees to interfere with satellite reception. Couldn't get any broadcast channels.

Our Verizon hotspot reception was good.

No designated pet area but there was sufficient distance along the park roads to walk dogs. There were no bag dispensers around the park to pick up waste and the only garbage collection point was near the one bathhouse in the campground.

No dumpster available but there was garbage pickup at your site.

Cash or checks only - no credit cards.

For being in a hazardous/severe weather area, there was no underground storm shelter and none of the buildings were designated as shelters.

Would not stay here again. We camped at Sherling Lake Park in a Motorhome.
