At almost 500 sites, this state park is HUGE! The nice thing is, the camp ground is almost 2.5 miles long and is divided into several sections, so it really doesn't feel that big. Well, unless you walk on the main road, then there is a lot of traffic. You really need to check aerial and camp ground maps when making reservations since there is not a lot of consistency between them. Some are very long, some short, some have very close neighbors, others have decent spacing. We spent a lot of time walking/riding through the park and sites 14-37 on the lake and sites 469-496 on the canal were our favorites. 447-468 are also decently long pull throughs, nearer to the great bike paths, but further to the beach. The new blacktop paths and boardwalks are awesome!! If you ride a bike, this park has wonderful trails and connects with additional trails. A beautiful location and we will be back. One ding on the park...no dog waste stations! Hopefully, they will add some. One major ding on the area - Zero dog friendly beaches. Decent Verizon coverage and our site had open sky for sattelite reception. We camped at Gulf State Park Campground in a Motorhome.

We visited 15 years ago. Since then 3 hurricanes hit so most sites have no shade. Grounds well kept but is is a mega campground with 500 sites. Must drive to beach about a mile. Beach is very nice, wide, white sand. Would not visit again. Fire ant hills everywhere so watch where you and pets walk We camped at Gulf State Park Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Big Park, almost 500 sites. Some of the nicest biking/walking trails anywhere. A 5 minute drive to a very nice beach. We did not use shower house, but checked them out, and they were clean and plenty of room. We came south after Christmas with no reservations, and couldn't believe that it was almost full, so call ahead!! We camped at Gulf State Park Campground in a Motorhome.

Visit Fort Morgan. Ate at Lamberts, it was just okay. But if you go, take cash, they do not accept cards.

We stayed at Gulf State Park for our stay in Gulf Shores, Alabama. They have 500 full hookup RV sites with great hiking trails and bike trails. Nice pool. The sugar sand beaches in Gulf Shores are beautiful. Very popular Park for winter RV snowbirders. Reservations advised. We've stayed here before and will return. We camped at Gulf State Park Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

First time we've been here and we were thrilled by the park, the biking, the site & the facilities. Stayed for 2 weeks & should've booked for the month. The biking is awesome. The site was large and felt very private. The laundry facilities are clean & well maintained. We were extremely happy with our stay We camped at Gulf State Park Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Lovely park. Sites were paved, level, and roomy. Park has miles of walking/bike paths. Beach is across the street - park has beautiful pool, tennis and basketball courts. They have planned activities such as guided nature walks. We camped at Gulf State Park Campground in a Travel Trailer.

This is the best state park I know for recreational cycling. The rates are quite high and we were disappointed to find that wifi is no longer available at campsites. However, the paved bike/walking trails have expanded since our last visit, and more trails and boardwalks are under construction. The facilities are well maintained and staff are visible and engaged. Sites are mostly large but vary in terms of privacy. The campground is long, and services such as garbage are all near the entrance, so there is lots af vehicle traffic back and forth. Choose a site on a side loop if that is an ussue for you.The park has a civilized vibe. We like it a lot. We camped at Gulf State Park Campground in a Motorhome.

The best thing about the park is full hook-ups, pull-throughs, and bike paths--best and prettiest paths I've seen, with wildflowers and bridges! However, the campsites aren't all that pretty. Campsites have no privacy, few trees, and sparse weedy patches. You have to drive to the beach--not close and across a busy road. Picnic tables are very warped wood. We camped at Gulf State Park Campground in a Motorhome.

They have raised the camping fees a lot every year over the last two years. added several taxes over and above the camping fees and it is now very expensive. None of the revenue seems to have gone into infrastructure and the park is going down hill. No changes in the showers. The people in the office are very short, but I get the impression they are being pushed from both sides the campers and the state. The park is huge and very busy. the main center road is not a good place to camp. and a line of continues rigs. in and out. During the summer the pool is open and is nice. winter it is closed. Store and laundry, are open year round. The wi-Fi they list does not work at all. I found a few places I could connect but no internet access. The park is located fairly close to Alabama 59 so all the stores you need. There are tennis courts nature center activities room. If we where camping with lots of kids it could be better than the average RV Park with things to do. But for snow birds or adults just looking for a park it is not worth the price. We camped at Gulf State Park Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Wonderful state park full of lots of amenities and in great condition!! Amenities include a very nice pool and splash pad (for registered camp guests only), two small playgrounds, nature center, laundry facilities, Segway rental, tennis and basketball courts, fishing piers, dog pond and park, 14 miles of trails, nightly food truck, a camp store and numerous geocaching spots. Don't know if we've ever been to a nicer state park. Everything was very clean and well-maintained. Park staff was constantly visible and always friendly. Park was busy but not super full which was surprising for families in the summer. Rates were unbelievably affordable, compared to other private large campgrounds on the Atlantic Coast. The beautiful Gulf beaches are about a 5 minute drive away- you are given a parking permit to park for free at the Gulf State Pier or Pavilion. We camped at Gulf State Park Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

This was our first stay at the park. The campground was awesome. It was very clean. Sites are private and have nice separation between them. We were in a pull thru that faced a small wooded area. The roads are all paved, amazing bike trails. Nice pool area. We cannot wait to go back! We camped at Gulf State Park Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

We have stayed at Gulf State Park for three different stays, each a week or a little longer. The sites on some loops are larger than others (the ones on Gator Road on the lake are closer together). We stayed on the main road all the way towards the back of the park this time and liked the sites there better as they were farther apart. There are loads of biking trails through the park and over to the city of Orange Beach. You can combine loops to make shorter or longer rides. AT&T 4G works great here. The prices have gone up recently at the park, but they do give you a free pier pass and free parking at the pavilion (which is normally $6 a day), so that does make it a little better. Lots of people bring their dogs, but all seem to be responsible pet owners for the most part. We will be back again! We camped at Gulf State Park Campground in a Travel Trailer.

This is a great State Park. Our site was a back in which was plenty long enough for our 40 ft. coach and toad. Site was a paved level site with a patio. Each site has a picnic table and grill. Sites are large with trees and plants between sites. Hook ups worked great, check in was easy with cheerful people. Lots of walking trails inside park, you also get a pass to the state fishing peer. Lots of great eating in Gulf Shores and Orange Beach. We camped at Gulf State Park Campground in a Motorhome.
