Large spots with picnic table and grill. This is a very large park and main road in can be busy but loops off this road were quite and not real busy. Large swimming pool and close to beaches. Did not use laundry but it is central located. There are nice walking trails. WIFI was not good even though we were camped next to it. No cable but satellite worked great and you can get a lot of channels over antenna. Great value for this part of
gulf. We camped at Gulf State Park Campground in a Motorhome.

Stayed all of February. Sites are large with picnic table and grill. Park has great bike trails and variety of weekly activities. Pool was not yet open. Great access to the beaches, restaurants, activities, etc. Park wide WiFi is useless, have to go to the activity center per staff. Our site required 20' of black tank hose to reach the sewer connection. Main road through the campground can be very busy. We camped at Gulf State Park Campground in a Motorhome.
Nice newer Wal-Mart very close.
Date of Stay: November, 2014 - $33.00
This park is lovely for biking, fishing, golfing. The laundry facilities were clean but a little expensive. Tip: Put more quarters in the dryer to increase the time rather than having to do two cycles. You'll save some money. The sites are spacious and you get the feeling you are truly away from it all. We camped at Gulf State Park Campground in a Fifth Wheel.
Miles and miles of bike trails, a nice little golf course, good fishing.
Date of Stay: November, 2014 - $34.00
The park is huge! Very nice! Bathroom and showers are very clean! Has laundry room and a giant pool! We've been here several times. My only problem with the park is no WIFI! I am an author and find it difficult to work and communicate with publishing house, fans etc. We camped at Gulf State Park Campground in a Motorhome.
Beach was about 1/2 mile from site! Bikes are good. Lambert's is close by (home of the throwing rolls). Also Pensacola is close so we saw the Blue Angels and toured Fort Pike where Geronimo was prisoner.

What's not to like? Efficient, courteous check in, beautiful beach and pool, plentiful clean restrooms, great bike trails, large sites of all kinds. We already booked two weeks next year. That should tell you something. One of our favorite campgrounds the past 5 months of almost continuous camping. We camped at Gulf State Park Campground in a Motorhome.Undo

Very large campground that is run very efficiently. Nice size sites with concrete pads and sitting areas. Sites are nicely spaced but little privacy since there is no underbrush and limited trees. Full hookups all work well but the park is having ongoing issues with their Wi-Fi. Wonderful location with excellent bike paths. Beautiful swimming pool, tennis courts, and several lakes to kayak or canoe. Be aware that starting in November the park is starting to fill with snowbirds who stay for the winter. This campground is huge! We were very impressed by it and how well-run they are. There are ample and clean bath houses within a short walk of any site. There is a big lake and canal where many sites can get waterfront access. All the other standard sites on the campground has some foliage to give you some privacy, you just have to drive around and see what is available since it's a first-come first-served system for sites. All sites are widely spaced apart and on level paved drives, including the picnic bench/patio area. You're only 1/2 mi from the beach from the campground entrance, which I recommend driving to one of the beach lots, since your camping pass waives your parking fee! They are trying to get Wi-Fi to work and still having trouble, but I was able to use their other free Wi-Fi channels while waiting on laundry at the laundromat. My Verizon cell service was excellent and was always able to get LTE data service from every point on the campground. We were here the final week of October and there was hardly anyone left. All the premium sites were however reserved the 2nd to last weekend of Oct, which I hear is their last busy weekend, so it's a good idea to reserve ahead if you want the waterfront sites. They have no problem with you moving sites whenever you want - but always check with the office if the premium sites haven't been fully booked before moving to one if you hadn't already paid for it. If we are back through this way, I would definitely stay here again over the other campgrounds we noticed in the area. They don't have fire pits in the campsites though, so that bummed us out; and washing clothes cost $2, drying $1.50 - a bit on the high side; I deducted a point from my rating for these items. Very well maintained site. Pads are well spaced. We stayed on the lake and had beautiful sunsets every evening and great sunrise every morning looking across the lake to the south. Maybe a mile or so to the beautiful beaches of Gulf Shores. Great gift shop, swimming pool with water park, quite for having so many kids around, Don't know about the internet service but the Satellite reception was great. Would definitely stay there again, in fact I can't wait to get back. We camped at Gulf State Park Campground in a Motorhome.Undo

We stayed at this campground for a week. The sites are all paved and have a paved patio area. There is very little shade so the AC had to work hard. There are tennis courts and swimming pool. The campground is accessible to the public for $1/car so there did seem to be a lot of traffic. The State Park has a section of beach about 3 miles long. There is an access area near the entrance to the campground but unfortunately there is parking for only about 10 vehicles. Since it can be used by the public you have to get there early to get a parking spot. You have to be careful how you park because those arriving later will park behind the vehicles already there blocking them in. This limited parking does ensure that the beach is not very crowded. There is beach access at the State fishing pier and also at a large pavilion. Pavilion parking is $5/car. There is at least one other beach access area that is in Orange Beach between 2 condos. It is a lot more crowded there. The staff in the registration building are all very friendly and helpful. There are well maintained trails around the campground. The have many signs warning of alligators but we did not encounter any. We camped at Gulf State Park Campground in a Motorhome.Undo

This place is huge and busy. Luxury camping – swimming pool, tennis courts, beach – even golf. Have to drive to the beach but campers have free access to the day use beach area with boardwalk to the beach, outdoor shower spot, and concession stand with covered tables. Wifi was great one day and couldn’t connect the next – so I won’t rely on it. We never could connect at our campsite – had to go to the camp store area – that was the only time we were able to connect. Very convenient location to town and beach. Glad to see that they are starting a program to eradicate the tallow trees – it will eliminate some of the minimal shade available at the camping spots but will be great for the ecosystem in the long run. Not much shade, but some sites do have it. But since you can’t reserve a specific site you take what’s available. Many of the sites don’t have much shrubs screening them from other sites. But many small trees have been planted so in a few years there’ll be more shade and privacy. One tip: if you plan to eat at a popular restaurant in town - go during or right after lunch. Dinner and peak lunch time is really crowded. We camped at Gulf State Park Campground in a Travel Trailer.Undo

We just spent 2 1/2 weeks enjoying this park. The sites are all very nice with paved parking with paved patio area including picnic table & grill. It's been completely renovated since hurricane Ivan. The facilities are all pretty new including a huge swimming pool area with children's area pad with fountains. There are also tennis courts, a nature center, gift shop, and wonderful bike county bike trails easily accessed from the park. The location is great and only 1 mile from the beach. I would rate it a 10 except for poor WiFi connection. We camped at Gulf State Park Campground in a Fifth Wheel.Undo

Perfect. Great birding, great biking. They have added even more bike trails since last visit. Good showers and large laundry. It does not get any better than this. We were here during tornado watches and record flooding. We saw other parks and parking lots submerged, but our RV stayed high and dry here. This wonderful park that gets our first "10" since we began full timing 2 years ago. Although very large with almost 500 sites, it was equipped to handle a lot of campers with over a dozen bath houses, many trash dump locations, and several large activity areas. These included a pool, volleyball courts, tennis courts, activity center, nature center, and miles of paved and unpaved paths for biking and walking. The internal roads and large sites were paved and level. They were also spaced quite far apart and all had strong 50-amp full hookups and nice tables. No fire pits, unfortunately. The Verizon phone coverage was good, and our amplified MiFi unit signal was adequate. The laundry room featured over 25 washers and 25 dryers, but in a place this size it got quite busy at times. Bathrooms and showers were clean, and the showers had benches and hooks for toiletries and towels. The staff was friendly and helpful, even though they were always extremely busy. There were nice grocery stores and many restaurants within a 10-minute drive of the park. The streets were busy with lots of kids and bikes moving around, but everyone seemed to be having a good time. We stayed 3 weeks and found it was much cheaper to pay the monthly rate. If you stay a week or two your daily rate will be somewhat higher. The monthly rate is only offered during the winter months, after that the stay is apparently limited to 2 weeks. This is a very good campgrounds. All sites are level and some have shade. They will only let you make reservation for a road and not a site. This is a large park with lots of campers. Still, there is plenty of room for your site. They have no internet at the site so if you want to go to the main entrance, one can use the internet there. Good selection of off-air TV channels. The showers were clean but dated. Plenty of hot water with good water pressure in the shower. This is really a nice place to stay. You are about one mile from the beach and can use your campgrounds parking pass to get free access to the public beach. We camped at Gulf State Park Campground in a Travel Trailer.Undo

Very nice and well maintained park. Full hookups, paved, level sites, great utilities and friendly staff. We were along the canal toward the state park's beach which was a very pleasant one half mile walk. The state park also maintains their beach VERY well. The water is emerald green and the sand is like sugar. We were there during spring break. The park was 100% full, but the beach was 99% empty. Was so nice!
