We have previously used this park and like it . We stopped by to see the changes and thought about staying here while in town. They have recently redone park and have since raised the rates tremendously $45/$275/$900. We won't be staying here. Other than repaving it. There are no real changes from it was before except the prices. No restrooms, paved parking lot, which would be fine with us since we are self contained and never use park facilities but is not good value . We camped at Hoover RV Park in a Motorhome.

Date of Stay: July, 2017 - $75.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed here because of the location. It had very good Verizon and AT&T signal and the wifi was excellent. It is way overpriced for what you get. It is a paved parking lot with full hookups placed throughout. The utilities are in excellent shape although the sewer is high (hard to make it run uphill). The location at the ballpark is near shopping and easy access to the highway. Costco and Walmart both within a couple of miles as well. It was very hard to get a reservation as they didn't answer phone messages and only answered my third email. Checking in was a little strange as well. We camped at Hoover RV Park in a Motorhome.

The rates have been increased since they finished part of the recreation center complex. The campground seems to have more sites, and it's like its been in previous review. Rates are now $45 daily and $278 weekly...Quite an increase for what you get. We camped at Hoover RV Park in a Motorhome.

Date of Stay: June, 2017 - $45.00
Overall Rating:

It is a blacktop parking lot. The older sites closer to the arena are not at all level. The newer sites (we stayed in site #105) are better. It was almost empty when we stayed there in June. $45 seems like a lot but it was perfectly fine, clean and quiet. There is no office. Don't bother going into the arena; they hardly know the RV park is even there. The only way to reach the park office is via email at rvpark@hoovermetcomplex.com. You send them an email and they answer promptly with a form for you to fill out and email back to them with a credit card number, no cash, no checks. The wifi was great the first 2 days and down for the remainder of our visit (2 more days). No cable but many over the air channels. We camped at Hoover RV Park in a Motorhome.

It is a parking lot with full hook ups. Assuming you can park next to your coach (we were able to) the sites are roomy and getting around is fine. If fully loaded and the spot next to you is taken by an RV then it is very tight, as the sites are not long enough for a coach and a car. Surprisingly, the WiFi worked well when we were there. They will be closing I believe in June for a year so not sure what the park will look like after the rebuild. We camped at Hoover RV Park in a Motorhome.

This "campground" is basically a parking lot they have added full hookups to. The price is extremely steep for what you are getting, and when we were here on a Saturday night, there was a some sort of event happening in the stadium next door that involved very loud (and bad) music until 10pm. I would have said it was fine for an overnight stay, but the noise from the event coupled with the fact that it's not that easy to get to, I would not recommend it. I would never want to stay here for an extended period of time, because there is no separation between sites. We camped at Hoover RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

NOTICE - Hoover RV Park will be closed from June 1, 2016 until May 1, 2017 due to construction and expansion on the property. A new sport complex will be built adjacent to the RV Park and additional RV sites will be included.
Currently, only a portion of the park is available, and is very crowded as a result. We camped at Hoover RV Park in a Motorhome.

This is a nice place to stopover as it is right off the interstate and located in a suburb of Birmingham. All sites are pull through. You have to unhook if you're towing and total length is longer than 45'. There are no bath houses currently (2016) but they will be available after the park reopens in 2017. Full hookups including 50 amp service but spotty Wifi at best.

This was posted at the park March 2, 2016: "The Hoover RV park will be temporarily closed effective June 1, 2016. The RV Park will reopen on May 1, 2017. The park is also sold out for the SEC Baseball Tournament which runs from May 20 - May 30, 2016. For any questions you can call (866) 466-8378." We camped at Hoover RV Park in a Motorhome.

Hoover RV Park is just a big paved parking lot, but it was pretty quiet and the hookups worked. We felt relatively safe. It was hard to know who was running the place, and I don't think the trash is picked up every day like they say it is--but other than that, I can't think of any negatives. There's a grocery store very near by. We'd stay there again. We camped at Hoover RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

This park is a large concrete parking lot next to a baseball stadium. Every site is a pull through with full hookups and there are trash cans spaced around the area. We never saw an attendant of any kind but people staying there are friendly, and there was a crowd! Payment is via a self pay system and there are no reservations. It's first come, first served. You drive through a very nice commercial office area to get to the park and that seems strange. It was quiet at night and we felt very safe. We would use this park again if in the area. We camped at Hoover RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

If you need to stay near Birmingham or are just passing through this area, this is a good place to stay. It feels isolated and safe and is very easy to access and is very close to the Interstate. To be as close as it is to the highway, it was very quiet. We found diesel for our truck only a mile away but we didn't check out the area other than that.

Big parking lot with no one really on duty after about 4:00 PM. Register with the honor system at a drop box. Full hook-ups. Good for an overnight stay, or for the SEC Baseball championship in May. We camped at Hoover RV Park in a Motorhome.

Great overnight stop with full hookups.

Basically a big parking lot. No playground, no showers or bathrooms. Right next to a good sized baseball stadium.

Would be perfect if the sites were long enough to keep the truck hitched- but, 50' is a lot to ask. We camped at Hoover RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

We stayed here overnight. It was very quiet and the pads are asphalt and level. All the sites are pull through. We were told we could stay hooked up to our vehicle since we're were just passing through however that's not the case. You will have to unhook your towing vehicle or your towed vehicle. If you use the WiFi get ready for a great experience. It is free and no password and it is super fast. Best we have ever had in our travels. We will stay here again. Decent for a night or two if you want to visit Birmingham, but understand that this is a concrete parking lot next to the regular parking lot of a large baseball stadium that isn't used 99% of the time. You get full hookups & a large garbage can, but that's it. No bath house/toilets/showers - you must be self-contained. No fires allowed. No picnic tables. Quiet & easy to drive to. No office; leave cash in a box or call office to pay via credit card. We camped at Hoover RV Park in a Motorhome.

This is an ideal park for travelers on I 20. Easy to get into and out of. It is a large parking lot next to a baseball stadium used for SEC playoff games. The city of Hoover is to be commended for providing such a nice RV facility. We will stay here any time we are in this area. We camped at Hoover RV Park in a Motorhome.
